Direct youtube playing from day one.
So that's a feature but how will anyone holding the coin be able to monetize that or make a profit holding PHR?
PHR is a Full POS coin, with interest of 10% annually.
Holding your PHR in the wallet you will earn PHR in percentage of the amount you held.
If we talk of profit in PHR, you will gain more PHR as long as you held them in the wallet and let the POS works, helping the network too.
If you are talking about making profit in BTC, the answer is the same for every altcoin, and I guess a Sr.Member know it.

Yes, it is about increasing your crypto holdings worth, not ideals (but I would support a good project for that too). I don't know that answer to "the same for every coin" please elaborate. Some coins offers this others that, the selling point is eventual appreciation via some gimmick or economic model etc. Please understand that my intention is in no way to belittle the youtube feature. In other words, why would I use your video player instead of my browser?

I think something should be done about the mining diff or whatever combination it is that makes it super expensive to mine like shift. market cap on its first few days should be very very modest else it won't hold. It's gotta start at ground floor for a sustained growth.

425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BITCREDIT | UPDATE NOW 26/08/15 | BID ON THE BLOCKCHAIN | ESCROW on: September 07, 2015, 07:14:02 PM
I had not seen the updated ann with the bidding explained. It says the proceeds of this auction is sent to a multisig address and the effect is immediately felt on the bcr ecosystem. Can you explain how that affects the BCR ecosystem? how are these "bid funds" used?

Instead of distribution only to miners, who spend lots of money on mining hardware and electricity bills, BCR is distributed directly to anyone who bids for it. The money that miners would have spent lining the pockets of hardware and utility companies goes directly to backing BCR instead.

Initially it's BTC/LTC/DASH that will be held as assets, jointly owned by everyone with BCR, and administered when needed by a quorum (currently it's a 3-of-5 multisig setup) of BN owners. There will follow bidding via fiat currency gateways too.

Personally I'd like to see most of the BTC/LTC/DASH/fiat converted to PMs - ASAP, because I frankly see no future for any fiat or cryptofiat currency backed by nothing but speculation and hot air - and held secure by companies that specialise in that, with, again, those reserves being accessible only via a quorum of BN owners.

BCR will have it's own voting system too, so all holders will have a say, probably proportional to their BCR balance.

Thanks.
What do you mean by PMs?
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BITCREDIT | UPDATE NOW 26/08/15 | BID ON THE BLOCKCHAIN | ESCROW on: September 07, 2015, 06:24:36 PM
OK. What is going on here? Block 30 000 BCR Huh

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/bcr/block.dws?200700.htm

Every 900 blocks (appx. once a day) there's a superblock, to distribute the day's newly minted BCR to whoever has bid for it.

Soon all tx validation will be moved to BNs only.

'Mining' is being axed as a distribution mechanism in favour of a less exclusionary bidding system, where anyone can acquire fresh BCR, not just geeks with fancy hardware (and parents to pay the electricity bills.)

I had not seen the updated ann with the bidding explained. It says the proceeds of this auction is sent to a multisig address and the effect is immediately felt on the bcr ecosystem. Can you explain how that affects the BCR ecosystem? how are these "bid funds" used?

**EDIT**
Also, It would be nice to get a status update on the crashing wallet issue... my nodes have been offline for a week now.....

Did you checked compability mode with Win 7 in bitcredit-qt.exe properities ?

Delete nodecache.dat, .lock , maybe another instance of exe is working in background.

One of my wallets only crash at close up, I think it's problem is localisation in default catalogue (c:\users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\ )

All the rest on desktop (with batch starting file bitcredit-qt.exe -datadir=C:\Users\xxx\Desktop\BCR-BN ...) works without problem.

With compatibility mode windows 7 it hangs on "loading wallet" all this even with an empty data folder.

I don't think etherum price should be used for SHIFT comparison. SHIFT has to stand on its own and maybe it will sooner or later but at 1,500BTC $350K market cap, it seems it skipped the very important baby steps for a sustainable price floor. Also 250k out of 2.5m makes the premine worth $35K

Besides, eth price is probably sustained by the larger investor whales, those who bought hundreds or thousands of btc worth, early btc adopter btc, those who can afford to invest thousands, have got more btc to 'protect' their investment.

These might be as good as the original but you can't claim the same or nearly the same price. All the research etc has value some how.

Would like to see shift go far though, very far. We got one dox and he's got the skills apparently, curious to see the others.

@hack_ : IPs of the pool nodes?

198.52.160.59
198.52.160.64
198.52.160.60

dev has another node, he'll be online today, finally got out hospital.  Cheesy

That is truly great news.

Thanks, time to get to work!!

So here is the gist of what i could glean,

1) There were multiple forks, i count 6
2) There was a group of solo miners who did not heed my decision to stick to the update and they now have 5K useless blocks.
3) Getblocktemplate was failing for some users because it assumes that the client is still downloading blocks if a certain amount of time has passed since th last block solved.
4) Some of the more stringent rules i placed in order to ensure network wide consensus on BNs were now preventing miners fro solving block 200000
5) Getwork was the quickest way around it using solo.

So since hack_ has the pools, i gave him the git password and some tips, seems he got most of it right, i'm just here to finish the job.

While i did have limited net access....i did have a laptop.... so expect some new code to go up for review, very very soon. (frustrated my friends to no end)

for direct contact please use bitcreditscc@gmail.com, during the course of my detour , someone helped themselves to some of my belongings left in the flat including my phones.

We are currently trying to solo block 200000, it's been two days  Cheesy

If anyone wants to help get the chain back online, download/build from the latest git commit and sync from the pool nodes i have set up. Then try mining the next block and we'll get to it. Dev relaxed some of the rules for a bit to ensure it's easier to get this done and will re-enforce them later.

I don't get it, the chain is moving on my end with the previous wallet, it says it's on block 205966

What am I supposed to do? update and get stuck at 19999 or stay on this one?

The thing is we could be buying 1 coin from a 2M supply and if they decide to increase supply to 25M that would take our 1 value to .08 shares instead of 1

I can't find another risk indicator besides market cap at the moment to calculate an investment risk. 30k for 2M puts it at 600BTC or $138K - 30K for 25M is 7500BTC or $1,723,350  let's be real, we got only a clone right now, not until the talent and commitment from the devs is proven will it make sense to choose shift over something else and that comes with time, not promises but time and results - putting this at hundreds of thousands market cap on inception is insane.

*edited bad pre-mine math*

Hi sir

I want to address this again. The holders of shift will be able to vote after 2M mined. I doubt that people want that kind of inflation that they decide 25M. Would not make any sense. And i fully agree, its a risk. But we want more decentralization when it comes to market and so on.

Regards

One thing is for sure, you and your team seem to have the right attitude so far.

Is Cuckoo currently used in any coin? sounds like a very fair distribution method.

No; it's not in use as far as I know.

As to fair distribution, that depends more on the reward schedule than on the PoW.
Nothing is fair when the majority of coins is released in a few weeks, or even a few days.

A fair distribution would start with negligible rewards, which slowly climb over a period
of months, to reach their peak in maybe a year, when mining software has had a chance to mature
and spread to many platforms (e.g. phones charging overnight), and then slowly decline over many years.

A lengthy pre-ann + linear rewards + a few weeks is decent IMO. It's not like alt-coin crowd will double in a year. I think whoever will ever participate in mining expanse are already monitoring this thread and other channels for the eventual non-ninja launch.

even with the reduction of the block reward I still think that the number of coins created per day is very high.
The dump will be greater after the FPGAs are widely used.
Why should the "dump" be higher? Even if billion of FPGAs are used, the total amount of mined coins will be constant and decreased with each block reward reduction.

Yes, but electricity costs will be much lower with FPGA than GPU, so miners will be more willing to dump

But the ones who are just selling to recoupe energy costs will sell less.
As it is volume seems large enough to hold the price at 30kish+- 5k
As the community grows so to will the price.

We won't moon shot hntil people start to use vnl outside of speculation.

Well I guess we better get comfortable then cause that hasn't happen for BTC either.
