Yeah unfortunately. It's unavoidable, otherwise we wont make it through staking due to lack of net weight.

In theory this should be the final update though.

Might be more practical not to set this following update to reject POW after a certain block and once we're staking fine we can have the final update with pow cutoff.

702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DROP] Dropcoin | New Algo | No IPO/ICO/premine on: May 30, 2015, 02:16:47 AM
WTB 7000-8000 Dropcoins PM me your offers.

That's almost half of the supply!

I had not realized there were so many coins out already. With ~50KH I managed to get like 4 blocks in around 8 hours and net hash was still below 4MH. Instamining might have sealed this coin's fate already there is no way this was anywhere near fair distribution at all. Sorry if it sounds like FUD, I'm not that good with numbers but I can't wrap my head around any logic as to why would i waste 8 hours of a dual xeon for 55 coins if a few people already have thousands? This was all yesterday BTW soon after a community member posted the windows wallet.

I think there is a network weight problem... my weight is 1 in 56, but this is not proportional with my wallet coins. The Dev MUST update the block explorer as soon as possible to be sure they have not been produced surplus coins.
Then on yobit I feel there are too many coins for sale. Strange that few expect the DPos.

CryptoBE is always behind. That explorer is as cheap as they come, you get what you pay for but it is something.
There is no surplus, if you are up to date then you should go by what your wallet says which is currently this:
"blocks" : 6993,
"timeoffset" : 196,
"moneysupply" : 124.99867904,

About the weight being off: I haven't run into a wallet that gets your stake stats right; they are always way off. According to wallets, you can be hours away from a stake but then it suddenly stakes after a few minutes. It's beta software. my 2 greedy cents.
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devs need to fuck off with their useless ico scam coins! on: May 29, 2015, 03:26:32 PM
they really need to fuck off.

If you fail to see the scam when a 'dev' takes opensourced coin code, re-brands it and then tries to sell it to you, then you deserve to be left with no btc.

Chain is stuck at block 6129...50 mins ago

That is going to happen multiple times so better get used to it, it happens when no one is hashing it on the pool.
Give it time. Not until it starts staking constantly will the chain move at a steady rate.

please contact suprnova and yobit to have them update their wallets

yobit has been messaged on bitcoin talk. I will tweet at them too.

Do we need supernova? Does anyone still have coins with them? I feel bad asking them to update yet again when it may not even be needed. *-_-

Well just as a courtesy, even though it is no longer needed since you've set up that pool he might still have the stratum open.

it will be out of sync until a new block is found

So that's a few for it and no solid votes against it.

New wallets are compiling now as well as the seed node.

I've extended the market accumulation phase by 5000 blocks.

Fingers crossed greed never has to see another fork after this.

Good decision, it makes it even more interesting this way, the greed is strong on this one  Grin

Ok, here's a question for you guys.

How do you all feel about extending the 0 POW / 1%POS market accumulation phase, and pushing POS back to like 10-15k?

This allows for a few things.

A: An actual market accumulation phase now that we are on yobit.
B: Time to get your coins right and actually get some weight before round 1 (which yeah will probably have to be slow and long to start unfortunately).
C: The ability to move your coins to market and trade them if you don't want to partake in the POS stage anymore.

Thoughts?

It would have to happen like... now though. The second someone hits a 5,000 block it's too late.

I'm ok with it. +1
712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The Game of [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ιοο̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] GREED [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ιοο̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] on: May 28, 2015, 07:49:38 PM
If it isn't clear by now, the staking isn't going to work properly anyway. The coin count is too low for what DPOS was designed for. Anyone with less than 1 coin per input will not receive any rewards. Eventually all the available inputs over 1 will go into stake and there will be no mature coins left to move the chain.

edit: the low coin count will also cause the chain to be unbearably slow in the interim.

meh, i can wait. The greed is and will be strong. Some will sell, some will buy, some will not be able to move coins unless they sell the whole wallet.dat. Moving the coins though, it means losing that precious weight and with a slow chain it might be days. If it eventually starts spitting out the advertised rewards we should be fine.

On what block we are now? How long until HPOS?

1 block away
714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCO] Xcoin | PoS | No Premine & No IPO on: May 28, 2015, 09:33:10 AM
every day in my wallet came 100 xco...because i have open wallet 16 hours per day.

Does it make much (or any) difference how long you leave your wallet open?  I run the wallet every couple of days usually and seem to end up with around 120-150XCO coming in all in one clump, and then nothing after that.  I'd more or less come to the conclusion that there was no benefit to leaving your wallet open (as in, desktop client running) all the time, but not really sure if I'm right.

With this mentality the network would come to a halt, someone has to find new blocks and process transactions. If it incurs a $$ cost to leave it running then it is understandable not to, but if your pc is on then you might as well keep the wallet staking.
