381  Economy / Economics / Re: I need bitcoin to be $690 to break even.....will I make it? on: April 08, 2015, 08:04:37 AM
bitcoin might be worth 690$ and more i would think, but it might be not because of its price sudden explosion, but because worth of fiat currencies implodes Smiley

It would more likely be worth zero or $690,000 in that scenario.

It is a binary bet at the moment.
382  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think 1.00 BTC will worth more than $10,000.00 USD at any time in 2015? on: April 07, 2015, 05:53:09 PM

384  Economy / Speculation / Re: Greece to adopt Bitcoin as currency on: April 05, 2015, 10:23:39 AM

387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why volume of altcoins just dropped drastically ? on: April 05, 2015, 09:43:41 AM
people are tired of scams and shitcoin.

People are losing interest on some altcoins. Only innovative coins will prosper.
388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: coins that you can trust for long term on: April 05, 2015, 09:38:57 AM
BTC, XMR
389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The technology behind Bitcoin is not important on: April 05, 2015, 09:32:47 AM
It's not important for those who want to use it after the value has been created by those who will go down in history (or at least enjoy a more fulfilling life).

We can say that bitcoin is just a kind of cash. You can send it to anybody without the help of banks.
390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something big for Bitcoin coming April 15th on: April 05, 2015, 09:28:53 AM
Yes, it seem he s just trolling.

He's legendary member and looking at his posts, he doesn't seem much of a troll.

Maybe he had some non-public info, maybe he was/is working on some big project, or maybe he was just drunk-posting.

I bet nothing gonna happen on 15th, it never does. Hope he's alright tho.

He has not been active since the OP.
391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: today's msn money article on: April 05, 2015, 09:26:49 AM
They still don't get what btc is backed by.......enjoy Grin

And you get it?
Then please tell me what it is.
Please don't tell me that it's network of miners - in 2009 there were only handful of them.

PS Correct answer is: "First tell me what backs dollar/euro/any other fiat currency?" :p

Bitcoin is backed by usage. When it is used, it is useful, it has value.
392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is slowly warming g upto the Wall Street on: April 03, 2015, 07:24:44 PM
I believe that Wall Street acceptance s gonna determine the fate of Bitcoin. If it gets accepted and traded like oil or gold, it ll go up big time. On the other hand, if they label it as a tool of scammers, bye, bye BTC.
It is funny that we, people of new era - by cretion of bitcoin - are trying to create new economy and better financial system yet we need blessing and approval of old blood financial elites? I find it very demotivating for the future of bitcoin.

At the distribution stage of the bitcoin, I do not wish the involvement of the Wall Street.
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat cash payment limitations funneling people into bitcoin? on: March 26, 2015, 08:17:49 AM
I think most of the unbanked ppl will suffer the most, especially those tourists, immigrants, or those who hates depositing in banks which charges them negative interest rates.

I am not sure about the immigrants, but tourists can use credit cards and tourism attractions should cost less than 1000 E.
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] What anonymous coin will succed? on: March 26, 2015, 08:11:28 AM
So far Dash (Dark coin) 29% and XMR 27.8%, way ahead of other coins!
395  Economy / Economics / Re: I need bitcoin to be $690 to break even.....will I make it? on: March 26, 2015, 08:09:53 AM
Welll, I think BTC is becoming more and more mass currency and its value will probably stagnate over the time. Don't think that it will be that high again.

When BTC becomes a mass currency, and everybody wants to have/use some BTC, how much will it be?
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] What anonymous coin will succed? on: March 23, 2015, 08:11:05 AM
It seems only 1.9% of people voted for BBR.
397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: March 23, 2015, 08:08:50 AM

Yes probably. It should probably be slowed down some when we do a hard fork for other things like MRL-0004. The one minute block time was one of those things that TFT did anyway despite everyone else disagreeing. It was never intended that way (except by him, for god knows what reason).

good idea.
are there any discussions / opinions about what may be a good blockrate?

(i assume you'll keep the social contract intact. eg 2min blocks - doubled reward)

Maybe 2, maybe 4. There was one view that it should be >5 (I don't disagree in the abstract) but 8 seems a bit high. Yes about the social contract and that's what makes anything that isn't a power of two a bit tricker to stick with the same curve (but not impossible). With power-of-two it is trivial.

4 min should be OK. At present, there are not much transactions going on with XMR. Most of the blocks are mining rewards only. When XMR gets used more in the future, we can reduce the block time to 2 min, then 1 min, even 30s when internet is much faster resulting fewer orphan blocks.
398  Economy / Economics / Re: USD monetary base has increased 3.5x since 2006. Why no huge inflation? on: March 22, 2015, 05:20:49 PM
The monetary value of various assets has increased, it absorbs the extra monetary supply.
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - 1 | ASIC - 0 | Lyra2RE | Decentralised | GPU Mineable | Open Source on: March 22, 2015, 05:00:20 PM

negative profit
  Sad

Negative profit for most coins if you pay for electricity and use public miners.
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] What anonymous coin will succed? on: March 22, 2015, 04:41:06 PM
The word "succeed" is spelled wrong in the title of this thread.

English does not matter much here. We all understand. You should use "spelled wrongly" instead of "spelled wrong" if we have to use correct English. Never mind.
