Ive never really had issue with Cryptsy other then this Tek wallet thing.  I suspect they have a stuck sync and just have not the manpower to fix the issue quickly, and suspect that Tekcoin is low on their priority list.

Cryptopia has been working well for me...

I made an account with cryptopia, they seem good, way better user interface then btcpool. had not problems moving coin in. Cryptsy was having wallet problems this morning, I could not transfer coin in. 

Has everyone given up on BTCPool?

Is that anything like the downlow on a download?   

Stuck Sync and not staking.  Mac Computer.

So a little background here, I had unlocked my wallet to stake, and it sat for a long time, NOTHING.
It had a very sizable balance that was approx. 35 days old, and historically I had no problems getting my wallet to stake, so I became concerned.  I began leaving my wallet unlocked for days at a time waiting. Still nothing.

The next symptom was the wallet began not catching up. (syncing)

I tried all the usual stuff, rebooting etc.

With advice of some kind folks here, I finally resolved to reload the block chain.

Here is what I did, just in case you need to do the same.

First go to finder and press command+shift=G a window will open allowing you to go to a specific place in your computer.

Put this in the window: ~/Library/Application Support/tekcoin

Copy the wallet.dat file and save it elsewhere. 2-3 places is best at least one the places should be external to your computer.

Delete everything in the folder where you found the wallet.dat file, but do not delete wallet.dat.

Download this bootstrap file: http://richlist.truckcoin.net/tekbootstrap.zip unzip and copy into the same folder as your wallet.dat.

Fire it up and wait.  My syncing took about 2 days. Everything works perfectly now.

I logged into the new exchange. I doesn't appear they do much trading of anything. a couple of the more common coins like Litecoin and Dogecoin have a little volume, but most everything else is all zeros.

The user interface is a bit un-elegant. I realize that is not too important, but rather how they conduct business.   I am Bitcoin Poor and heavy in Tekcoin at the moment, so I cannot but in buy orders. After my wallet is done syncing, I could put some sell orders in, a few thousand each at a higher then market price, so at least something shows up.

FYI, I did have to delete and begin the blockchain reload to fix my stuck sync. Its in process now, and looks like it is going to take some time to finish.

Grigio, when you create your new account, They ask you for a user name, and your email.  Then, when logging in, they want your email and password, not your username.  This tripped me up at first as my computer auto-filled my user name, not my email. Took me minute to figure it out, as the error message when trying with the username was not obvious.  This may be your issue too.

Hat in hand, apologies to you Grigbo, you did not deserve to brunt my frustrations, I do recognize you were trying to be helpful and had no clue what I had already tried.

Thanks for the wisdom Biomech. This is making wish I was still running a Ubuntu PC, The Mac hasn't been too bad though, certainly better then the Wind Blows alternative.

Well that is just great.  Because I am a "newbie" and I have to put up with the "advice" from Grigio, and now lectures on etiquette from someone who is even less helpful, and less knowledgeable, maybe I am just now worthy of intelligent help, and I should just live with things the way they are. Biotech, I would like to offer sincere thanks for your advice. Maybe low tech, but certainly worth a try. Some times simple is good.

I would be certainly grateful for any other advice "beyond buy a PC".  I am considering deleting the block chain and reloading, I have just been hesitant to do so, as I have a sizable number of coin in my wallet ready to stake, and didn't want to risk messing that up.

Ive done the "get out of the car, run around it 2 or 3 times, restart the car" routine.
I was hoping for some help from someone with some real experience. Not the peanut gallery.

I believe this view is a bit short sighted.  While it is obvious where your are going with your argument, there still has to be motivation for folks to keep and stake TEK.  While I would agree more folks are better, which will strengthen the network, you don't get people interested in investing into any kind of medium if it is increasingly becoming worthless.

The number of coin out there does not necessary make the nodes stronger.  It boils down to people, who have computers, which are connected to the network.  Where is the motivation for folks to have TEK wallets on the network if they do not perceive a value? Folks who have already invested will try to dump as we have seen, and over time you will actually decrease the number of folks on the network which will have the opposite of the desired node-strengthing result.

In any kind of investment strategy, the goal of the investors is to increase their standing. In the short term, you can argue that even if the price is lower, they have GOBs more offset the price decrease, but at some point, the price of the coin (or call it whatever, if you don't like the term coin) will drop so low that no matter how many you have, you are going in the wrong direction with your investment.

If you don't think of this from the people perspective, you are going to miss the mark.  It really all boils down to perception of value, and if nothing is done to protect that perception, people will loose interest, and the 'coin' will ultimately die. The super stake idea is awesome, but it cannot be the end all for TEK. Thought must be placed into protecting value.  I believe the original intent was for so many folks to be bought into the concept, that the sheer numbers of folks staking would control the formation of new coins and slow the process. 

I was initially excited about a hard fork that would decrease the micro-transactions and increase my stake percentage.  While eliminating the staking on very small holding may still be good for the network, uncontrolled growth of the coin is not.  I am a fairly large holder, and I must admit that I prefer reducing the stake percentage to stabilize the coin, to the possibility of having trillions of TEK out there that nobody wants. It hurts me in growth, but goes a long way to protect value of my existing holding.

It has been an interesting experiment.  I will hold on for two reason: First, I did not sell the farm to buy in.  If I loose it all, I can chalk it up to a good idea that did not pan out. and perhaps I am wrong in my reasoning. ( I really don't think so....) and second, the 'powers that be' may come to their senses and fix the coin to protect the value.  Judging by the silence we are experiencing from the DEV team, I expect that is a pipe dream too.  I suspect they cashed out a long time ago, when a TEK sold for close to 2 cents each, and are laughing into their hands.

But who knows? I could be wrong... I certainly hope so.

I have Entered and Exited TEK for about 5 times in its life due to different reasons and it is super cool to find it alive and doing good...
every time I have started from zero Tekcoin and all the time I was cursed with much higher prices that made it difficult to enter..
Guess what? I am happy to be back again on the right moment finally  
I only beg all who want to turn this Coin into some other coins.. just sell TEK and BUY the right Coin for you.. that already has all "supply caps" and "inflation control" in place!

We may not know how much gold there is, but we can definitely calculate how much TEK there will be if left uncontrolled. Our 'stupid monetary paradigms' are valid. Anyone who understands supply/demand will tell you that if something doesn't change, it will not be long for TEK. I have enjoyed the staking as much as the next person, but if it becomes as worthless as rocks due to oversupply, then what is the point of continuing?

Comparing Tek to Gold is so far off base I cannot even tell you. Even though there is still a supply of gold coming in, the new supply is moderate and besides, Gold has tangible uses. TEK does not.  Even if they found a mountain of gold tomorrow, The high tech industry among others would still have use for it. The price would definitely drop due to supply vs. demand, but it would always have some tangible value.  The same cannot be said of TEK.  If we want to save TEK as a crypto, the time is now to make changes.  If nothing happens, it will go the way of so many of it's predecessors, and will end up being delisted and drop to no value at all.

I say it can still be saved. Tek has stood the test of time, but the time has come where we need to tighten our belts, acknowledge that the free ride is over, and encourage the DEVs to make the changes necessary to save the coin. That is, it they haven't already dumped and ran.

And where is the Dev? Thundertoe has been remarkably silent on this while issue. What if anything is to be done to save the coin? Has the team sold out and left or is there a concerted effort underway to change the blockchain?  So sad to see the price plummet as folks dump and run when this could be fixed with a few changes.

Difficulty has been low the last few days without the hard fork. Maybe it is not necessary.

Ever heard of a wallet not staking? 32+ days, I unlocked to stake, and nothing. Usually it stakes right a way.  I tried re-starting the wallet. Nothing. (of course I let it sync before unlocking.) Ideas?

Does anyone know where I can consistently receive POS difficulty?  My wallet will sometimes show the POW and sometimes the POS when I hover the mouse over the green checkmark in the lower right corner. It is a crap shoot what I will see. Words of wisdom?
