I agree with you, I brought this up about a month ago here. While self-moderation has the benefits Jet Cash mentioned, it is almost exclusively used to curate feedback and scam other users. I think one possible solution would be to restrict the self-moderation ability to only Members+, as this would at least stop the most flagrant abuse. Something also needs to be done about auto-buy links (selly, rocketr, etc.), these are just as much a plague in the Digital Goods section. It a great idea, however I have suggested numerous times here to either not allow locked or self-moderated threads AT ALL in digital or limit to full member and above. Each time I got shot down with "people should be able to take care of themselves" (or similar). |

An astute observation! Not only that it is so easy to check all the "crumbs" those scammers have posted in various alts that easily tie them together if one has the time to do that. Past post history usually exposes most of the alts and the fake "trust" as there is always a pattern. One moron used the same Skype across 20 alts.

yes, this account was hacked and that account was mine, and for his return from me they demanded money, but my Skype is the same. Yea, OK. If you say so. 50% discount Walmart cards? Seriously? Definitely legit. Right? LOL That would be a first. You can get 90% on the "real" market but I'm sure you're just taking the loss because you want to donate the profits to the police widows & orphans fund. |

And his new _accounts_ alt that he tried to scam with while he was temp banned. Already reported him today for constantly bumping, he just blatantly flaunts the rules knowing nothing will happen. SAD. I will continue to Report to Moderator on his locked thread, and I encourage all of you to do the same. If the mods are inundated with reports from the same thread, maybe they'll wise up and ban his sorry ass once and for all. And yet again, new scam accusations from him ripping off another newb. Unfortunately scammers never get banned. If this guy hasn't been banned after 6 months no one will be. Besides, they just come back with new ALT and/or use VPN. |
