121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese miners rejecting transactions from the US? on: November 14, 2016, 09:51:52 PM
So what will happen if I use a fake Chinese name, e-mail address, residence address and a fake IP provided by a VPN? Will the Chinese still ban my sorry ass?  Grin Beating the Chinese in the faking game that is actually awesome  Grin

Dude I can pay someone to open an account at a Chinese exchange so my transactions will keep going through. There are a lot of hungry Chinese students looking for a quick buck every day.
122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese miners rejecting transactions originating in the US on: November 13, 2016, 03:25:30 PM
This topic is bordering on science fiction  Grin How can the Chinese miners and pools filter out USA traffic and deny foreign transactions? Is this even possible to segregate an entire country or continent from the Blockchain?
123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese miners rejecting transactions originating in the US on: November 13, 2016, 02:30:27 PM
I understand the basic know-how of Bitcoin and I can't figure out how the Chinese miners would distinguish between incoming transactions from the USA and other countries for example. Could someone explain to me in layman's terms how this scenario would pan out? Like the Chinese pools are going to be checking the IP addresses or what?
124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2018 World Cup qualifications, UEFA zone, discussion and information thread on: November 13, 2016, 12:30:09 PM
The juice on all the matches with the big favorites is so big today that it's not worth it to parlay all of them because I think the combined odds from all of them won't even reach 1.5 lol  Shocked Only the Bulgaria vs Belarus game offers pretty nice odds but I am not quite sure what to pick here because both teams could be unpredictable tonight. Perhaps the most logical betting market would be the over/under goals and the half time draw option, too. However I am not confident in picking under 2.5 goals and would go for the half time draw bet instead because it's highly likely that both teams would be playing it safe in the first half of the match.
125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The most precise definition of gambling? on: November 11, 2016, 04:06:35 PM
From MacMillan Dictionary:

gambling:

1. an activity in which you risk money in the hope of winning more money if you are lucky or if you guess something correctly
2. a situation in which you take a risk on something that can give you important benefits

betting:

the activity of trying to win money by placing a bet (=guessing the result of a race, game etc)

I think gambling is the broader term and betting is included in the umbrella definition - gambling.
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought Bitcoin from a train ticket machine in Switzerland for a trip abroad on: November 11, 2016, 01:27:59 PM
Do you specifically need a Swiss mobile phone number for this or any foreign phone number with the roaming feature enabled would work as well? I guess the Swiss authorities made it so only people who sourced a Swiss sim card from somewhere could work with these Bitcoin machines for identification purposes if something goes wrong, right? And thank you for showing us an in-depth review of how these new machines function  Wink
127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: November 11, 2016, 08:24:16 AM
Leicester City have no chances of achieving anything substantial in this season of the Premier League. I don't even think that they have any chances of getting in the top 5 spots. The best they could do this season is to not get relegated. Last season was an odd one and Leicester City just got very, very lucky that's all. I bet they will be focusing more on the Champions League.
128  Other / Meta / Re: Abuse of Moderated Threads on: November 11, 2016, 08:10:26 AM
Seeing a self moderated thread in a marketplace section in the first place should be a warning flag. On top of that, feedback can be left on the trust system to try and warn people, or you can create your own thread to warn people about a self moderated scam topic.

Could you explain what you mean by it would lead to abuse of the trust system? Flagging shady dealers seems like its the perfect use for the trust system.

But legitimate people can't protect their threads from all the garbage posts that are going to pile up in literally no time by all the illiterate sig spammers doing their daily rounds around the marketplace forum sections. If people don't use self-moderation how could they delete all the shitposters' brainfarts diluting the topic of the thread and making it hard for prospective buyers to find out relevant info by the OP? I am talking about the Services section for example because most of the threads in there are self-moderated for a reason.
129  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Can free bitcoins sites be hacked to earn more on: November 11, 2016, 08:01:25 AM
People nowadays come up with all kinds of bullshit tactics and schemes to get you to sign up under their referral links so as to earn more coins from 'hacked' Bitcoin websites. In reality nothing is being 'hacked' and you will just end up generating more revenue for the people who referred you.
130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Starter Gift Set for Christmas season --- Thoughts? on: November 11, 2016, 06:59:12 AM
Hey there. The set looks nice but if I were going to purchase it I would have opted for a physical coin not encased in a display frame. I don't know if you could take it out of the frame or not, but I think a coin with the public and private keys engraved on it would have been better than a simple coin paired with a laminated wallet. Also the addition of a cheap Android phone with a Mycelium wallet pre-installed might not attract more customers. I would have included a card with a QR code of the Mycelium wallet printed on it so people could download it from the Google store on their own. And you could include cards with QR codes for Bitcoin wallets for the other 2 major platforms -  iPhone and Windows Mobile.
131  Economy / Services / Re: We need 6 professionals on: November 10, 2016, 06:49:33 PM
May I ask what country you want to have the goods exported to? And do you need a global marketing specialist or you will be selling the goods in specific countries and looking for localized marketing campaigns?
132  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Trump presidency may turn out beneficial for Bitcoin long term on: November 10, 2016, 06:36:58 PM
I have read that the Chinese Yuan is backed up by the gold reserves in their treasuries while the US Treasury doesn't have enough gold to back up the US dollar and they are printing bills out of thin air. The Chinese have been gathering insane amounts of cash and I think they have more financial resources now than the western world. I don't think the Yuan is in danger of devaluation, on the contrary it will be more stable than the Euro or the Dollar. Perhaps if Trump closes the borders for Chinese wares China will lose some cash reserves but I don't know how big of a market the USA really is for China.
133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin GEOCACHE in Iceland FREE money!! GAME STILL ON!! on: November 10, 2016, 06:21:37 PM
Iceland's landscape is surreal and looks like it's out of this Earth. I hope to get the chance to visit the country some day.
By the way my family have a trip planned to visit Norway next year in September and we will be going on a cruise to explore the Norwegian fjords. I would love it if you could plant some new bounties around this region  Grin
Jokes aside, I have an idea. Why don't you place new caches in the farthest locations of Europe? Like for example a cache in the northernmost, southernmost, easternmost and westernmost points of continental Europe? I think it will inspire budding travelers to make the effort to find these caches during their travels. Just an idea mate.
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does a President Trump mean for Bitcoin? on: November 10, 2016, 02:50:28 PM
Donald Trump might try to either regulate Bitcoin and force people to pay taxes or outlaw all crypto currencies altogether in order to bolster the local bank cartels. Or if he is smart he might try to play both parties and collect Bitcoin taxes and appease the banks to keep them quiet.
Whatever he does I think the price of Bitcoin will go up because the general population is worried about Trump going berserk on the immigrant situation so I guess the majority of people will keep part of their salaries in a digital form legally or illegally.
135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will mobile devices serve as BTC full nodes in the future? on: November 10, 2016, 05:58:35 AM
I highly doubt so. Surely it's possible to develop a client for the mobile platforms with the current advancement of mobile hardware, but the big question will be if it would be effective? Would you like to lug a battery pack with you the whole day because in order to keep your phone and your client running it would require some serious battery capacity. And with the current trend of slimmer phones every year it seems like a mission impossible. Unless you carry around a bigger tablet, but it's not much better that way either.
136  Economy / Services / Re: Do you live in the UK? Then I can make you money! on: November 09, 2016, 11:49:27 PM
Anyone could attempt to do 'sportsbook bonus whoring' on their own and there is no need for you to provide any advice on the available offers because it's out there in the open and there are enough sites and blogs already providing enough sign up links to prospective players.
And why would anyone give you access to their accounts in exchange for your service?
Are you trying to rip people off mate?

What are you talking about? Ripping people off? How exactly?

I'm not charging a fee to help anyone if they want to do it themselves. I'm not providing sign up links to sites for prospective players either so don't know where you've plucked that from?

I'm offering to buy people's new betting accounts from them in return for Bitcoin. A lot of people have no interest in betting so why shouldn't they get something out of it in return.

You refer to matched betting as "sports book bonus whoring" which makes me think you don't fully understand the concept and instead post in threads to boost the campaign in your signature.

I know exactly what you are doing here, and people can get the bonuses for themselves without you paying them less to use their accounts because anyone with half a brain can do this alone even if they are not interested in sports betting.

If anyone wants to learn about matched betting aka sportsbook bonus whoring you can start here for free:

137  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitcointalk Forum on: November 09, 2016, 11:34:14 PM
Well this is the nature of the beast. What else would you expect from a digital 'currency' like Bitcoin which is very easy to obtain (scam) and you don't have any recourse getting your money back? You better adapt to all the shady deals around here and don't fall for cheap shots which are very easy to detect in the first place. And as a rule of thumb - if it sounds too good to be true, it's probably a scam  Grin
138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Announcing Bitcoin Black Friday 5. on: November 09, 2016, 11:24:07 PM
Someone can make a site where you can find products in stores that accept bitcoin, just trusted ones, so in this way is more easy to users know more stores and find the best prices.. not just in black friday... Wink

You can actually use a search engine that finds Bitcoin deals specifically. It's located on the official Bitcoin website so there is no funny business going on with the results I guess. Link: https://www.bitcoin.com/spend-bitcoin-online
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India Bans Its Largest Fiat Currency Notes on: November 09, 2016, 05:39:52 PM
Oh I see now. So the government officials are trying to bait all of the tax evasion offenders to come out of the shadows and deposit their soon to be paper money bills and catch them red-handed. It's a very effective plan of action to be honest and this idea hasn't even crossed my mind lol. Get rid of the big bills and force people to show up at the banks, get them checked out and then release new, bigger bills. Smooth play, India  Grin
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India Bans Its Largest Fiat Currency Notes on: November 09, 2016, 05:17:25 PM
The problem I see with that ban is low purchasing power of rupee. 1 rupee is currently worth $0.02 cents so 1000 rupees is roughly 15 USD.
I can't figure it out if government in India is being serious - how banning equivalent of banknotes in denominations of $7 and $15 will help them?

BTW - It is more Economy discussion than Bitcoin discussion, this thread should me moved to Economics section.

The way I am explaining this decision to myself is that the government think that banning the top priced banknotes will reduce the likelihood of bribes and corruption going around in the country because it would be more difficult to carry around suitcases full of cash. Now that these banknotes are out of circulation it would take people a lot of effort to pay the same amount of money with a lot of smaller bills thus making their actions very conspicuous and the offenders will be much more easily identified and apprehended.
