Ill put up some pictures of my blade-farm as soon as I find my camera's charger, and the rest of my blades get here. I just wish this wasn't so dam addicting.

We accept cellphone pictures!! Cheesy  Tongue

...
Hi!!!

The exit has the same principle as the rear of a rocket engine - for a moment let's forget the fans and think only in passive air circulation. Since the hot air expands, it will hit the walls.
But those walls angle will make it go out, instead of returning.
Since the air exits, it will create a very low pressure in the middle, pushing the air from the back. Wink

Oh, now I get it. I should do more testing Cheesy. Btw, I ordered some temperature sensors (two), only need something to heat in the middle section. Should be fun Smiley
I'm thinking about using a big-ass-fan this http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-3733-20-Fan-Box/dp/B00002ND67/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376038212&sr=8-1&keywords=boxed+fan
but I can't find the equivalent of a boxed fan here in germany, only round ones (I want a boxed one!)

What sensors have you ordered?
I had a lot of trouble that way. They were both expensive and hard to use.
I've been advised in MSP430 forum against the thermo-resistors type, and those such as DHT11 are too complex for my knowledge (and expensive for experiments).
As for heating, as I PM'd you, I'm thinking in heated water, for now.
But I've thought some months ago in this: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/63-292-0-0-1-0.html
BTW, I've found out yesterday's night that a 7ohm @ 10W resistor and a 12V@1A power source don't mate well, although they really produce heat. Too much of it!!  Grin
Read somewere once, many years ago, that if we powered a couple of pins on an old pentium 100 processor, and shorted some other, it would heat up stable, but can't find that anymore. Just this: http://www.instructables.com/id/USB-Heater-or-How-to-Upgrade-Your-Coffee-Cup/ which as nothing to do with... Sad

Any thoughts? Smiley

crazy but nice Cheesy

you could also try a bigger fan, like this:

http://www.caseking.de/shop/catalog/Luefter/Ueber-140mm-Luefter/BitFenix-Spectre-PRO-230mm-Luefter-schwarz::17899.html

230mm diameter, circular case, 264,0 m³/h airflow.

thanks! Smiley

Those are actually not that good, 4 times a 120mm fan would get me like 400m³/h, with a cheap Arctic Cooling F12. The reason I used those fans were I got them off ebay pretty cheap (like 1-2€ each).
I plan on using nine of these:

Fan size: 92mm 55CFM, 32dBa, 3000rpm. Those should push some serious air I hope.

Anymore thoughts? Could anyone explain me why I need the exit (the left side) and not just leave it open after flowing throug hmy to be cooled units? http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18adxj7fzzmaxjpg/k-bigpic.jpg

I have 15 of these delta 120s - 252CFM - lovely for shifting air BUT too loud for continuos use (unless its in a server room) i have 12 pulling air in my server cab and 3 to 'play' with Wink

I have a couple of those and they are just insanely powerful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDOSaPULFro

WOW!!! That's not noisy... that's not loud... that's a leaf blower!!!
Can you please detail the NE555?

Can I play the big fan game too?  Shocked

It needs to run off a car battery jump-starter (600 A peak current) because none of my bench PSU could handle it. It needs about 200 watts or more. Even my small desktop PC ATX PSUs were no match.

I made a bag thing out of a painters dropsheet to show how much air it moves.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihvaFVsB4G8

That's cool!!! But I've always thought that the fans would block each one's air... guess i was wrong, and that, gave me some cool ideas!! Wink
1167  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: August 08, 2013, 09:58:49 PM

to get back to that sweet idea, I build a small setup with 4 fans, sadly different in power, speed etc

here you can see the fans

https://i.imgur.com/Qji5V1p.jpg
the upper left is really powerful, alot more than the others

built this

https://i.imgur.com/jmr1ZcO.jpg

fired it up

https://i.imgur.com/jTWBUcy.jpg

what can I say: it works, but the setup is not good for comparison. The entry is 24x24 cm² and the exit is 8x8cm².
A1*c1 = A2*c2 -> c2 = A1/A2*c1 = 9*c1.
So one would expect the air to flow 9 times as fast as it does at the entry. It doesn't, its actually kinda lame. The powerful fan just pushed the air right out of the weakest of my fans (yeah, who would have thought that?  Roll Eyes ). I think when letting the fans suck the air out I would not get that effect of air moving the wrong direction, or maybe not that bad. Maybe I should try this with just one fan, doing the same in a smaller scale or get 4 equal fans.

Any thoughts? Smiley

Yay!!!
You made it!!!
I'll PM you, but shouldn't the output be larger than the input (the other way around?)? And where is it pointing to?
1168  Local / Biete / Re: USB-Erupter -Groupbuy - PREIS: 0.59 BTC - 80 Sticks auf Lager on: August 08, 2013, 12:47:16 PM
Isn't it today that we receive the PM about the discounted Erupters? :-D

I thought it was, but there are delivery problems with yxt.
You can read this in the OP:

Quote
RABATTAKTION STARTET CA. AM 15.08. - je nachdem wie schnell ich die kompletten 740 Sticks für die Aktion von YXT zugesendet bekomme - ICH WERDE ALLE KÄUFER MIT ANSPRUCH PER PM KONTAKTIEREN !

When I translate that with my limited German, I get this:

Quote
Promo action starts at 15/08 - It depends how fast I get the complete 740 sticks batch for the action from YXT. I will send all people who are eligible a PM.
***

But Normally, he receives a first batch today. And YXT said that he would receive the remaining sticks 'at the end of august' (but it's possible there will be delivery problems). So I think it would be better to start selling them now for a higher promo price (maybe 0.4 BTC).

edit: Menig answered your question when I was typing this Wink

Thanks anyway!!
Google translator always makes me miss some parts of this post... Sad

Great!!
I'm stacking up BTC's to get at least the 2 I have the right, and if possible another at the normal price!!
Thanks for the update!!

Hi Menig

Apologies for my lack of German

Could you post an update in English with regards to the Promo Sticks please?

the first 225 promo-sticks are shipped to me... the missing 515 devices will send "until end of August" from yxt to me... so i cant still say any exact time... sorry...
i hope that the most arrive until 15.08. - but als yxt wrote " until end of August"... am 50% sure it will not work... but i cant do anything for faster delivery.. sorry...

Yeah, Google translate is quite... GRRR!!! well, it allows to understand most of the time, but sometimes...
Even so, thank you Menig, you're doing a great job!

Yes, about 74 Satoshi's  Cry (its was on BTCGuild, last Wednesday)

now you made me sad  Cry  Cry

solo-mining with something like that would've been quite, well,... stupid.

absolutely gorgeous miner, though. I love it.

Some time ago, it was quite high tech, if I recall!! :-D
Even at 12mhs is still lovely!
1173  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how can i earn bitcoins? on: August 03, 2013, 11:34:32 AM
These are my favorites:
BitcoinBlogger Faucet
DomesticPineapple Faucet
DevFaucet
BTCClicks

Those are my favorites as they don't take me much time.
The first 3, you have to create an account in inputs.io.

If I'm allowed...
I have a somehow stupid question, but...
But since we all have old psu's, why can't I use one of these to control ASICs?
http://tctechcrunch2011.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/hub-03-620x465.jpg?w=620&h=465
According to my calculations, it would allow about 0.53 amps in 12 ports.
Besides being meant to be mounted in an inconvenient bay, what's the catch?

You would need USB extension cables because the Block Erupters are too wide.

Actuallu you could get 7 USB ASICs in that hub if they were staggered properly - i have a similar 8 port in the floppy drive bay that has 4 staggered and a fan blowing over them.

That's what I thought!!
Nice!!!! Smiley

Yes, but besides that?
There are others, with better port arrangement. This picture is just to illustrate the device. Smiley

Great news!
But will everyone who bought have a special price?

Best regards!

I made one in Sketchup.
It mines at the speed you want and dream of!
Comes with a 80mm fan, also included in the sketchup file!
