601  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Difficulty retargeting with lower hashrate question.. on: September 30, 2014, 02:33:51 AM
So you are saying the net work diff can retarget on the fly? and not wait to a predetermined block # then check to see if it needs to retarget?

The whole point of my question was will we have to wait for a X number of blocks to be solved before the network diff lowers due to the lowering in hash rate..

602  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Difficulty retargeting with lower hashrate question.. on: September 30, 2014, 01:31:21 AM
I know the diff changes depending on the hash rate and retargets ever 1024 blocks? somewhere around there.. my question is what happens .. like it is now the hash rate drops and its taking longer then the average 10 mins per block, will bitcoin qt retarget sooner seeing its taking longer to solve a block now that there is less hash rate.. At the time of this post it's averaging 11 mins for a block to be solved. Are we going to have to wait longer then 2 weeks till the next 1024 blocks are solved  (ever how long that will be) before a retarget?

So.. to clarify something please.. Before as i read it, maintenance fee was .18 cent per gh/s per hour per 24hr*30 days is that correct?

If so that's was a lot of $$ or is it just as simple as .015 cent ~ (11 cents * per gh/s  * 30 days?)

Thanks

PS

The DVC balance on the ghash.io mining page is not showing the balance @ 0.00 but on the finance tab it has the correct amount.

We are also actively working on our cloud mining cost structures / services and will announce news in that direction in the coming days.

Let me  guess a higher maintenance fee.. Due to price drop of btc

Well i didn't know the diff reset, i knew it would probably be lower for the fewer miners mining on it, but that being said the electricity should be covered by the company as part of R&D and not been taken from the miners, kinda like ordering a pizza and the driver shows up to hand you 3/4 pizza 1/4 was ate while delivering it to you Smiley

Just an fyi, THERE IS NO REASON WHAT SO EVER FOR A COMPANY TO MINE REAL BTC! Not when there exists test net btc. I know the hardware needs testing, hence the testnet btc.. mines fake btc just as hard as the real.. sorta. Smiley

anyone after 24h of mining on ghash/cex  have a negative balance?!

support tell me is all right and lot off links to keep me busy ready

Well last night after about 12 hours of mining and today about 15 hours i went from .0005 down to .0001.. Now that's just sad mining to loose btc.. Yep that's Cex for ya.

Yes i know there is maintenance fee/etc but you would think after 24 hours of mining the balance would at least go up..?

612  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Using OpenDNS Instead of ISP on: August 18, 2014, 01:41:39 AM
Correct, but as i stated earlier once that connection is made there is virtual no more latency other then the time it takes the data to travel from point A to B, the dns part is over. So changing DNS servers just to save a one time use.. well if it makes you happy Smiley

Also this might help finding the fastest and reliable dns server..

613  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Using OpenDNS Instead of ISP on: August 18, 2014, 12:40:11 AM
DNS servers do not have anything to do with latency, there only job is to take your web request ie: www.google.com to an ip and make the connection, once done they are done. Now having a good dns server with a faster response time is key when opening web pages and waiting for web pages to load. As far as mining the dns would only have less then a second of interaction find your -o ip address to real ip and making the connection (basically dns is the guy who hooks you up with a blind date), once you two meet he is out of there.

614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It costs $0.09 cents to send $0.24 cents of Bitcoin? Really? on: August 18, 2014, 12:24:45 AM
Or you could equate it to buying something on NewEgg that cost something like $2.50 and having to pay S&H like $6 to get it delivered 3rd day mail.

Like the Post office, they have different rates for overnight, first class/etc.

The "miners" are what move btc, not paying for their storage of the entire blockchain nor the bandwidth/power bill well.. you might as well put the quarter in an envelope and place a stamp "hint cost more then .25 cents" and mail the quarter.

I have been mining with GHash.io for a couple of months, and consistently seeing my "actual return" lower than my "expected return" (i.e. my hash rate / network hash rate x coins generated)......

Wonder if this was just pure bad luck, or is that something sneaky behind? ......

Well you do realize your not going to make what those calculators say you'll make, one simple reason is about ~ 1/5 (someone do the math on the %)  of your profits are taken for maintenance fee's (assuming your buying cex's cloud hashing)

well tracrt is a good and complete detail connection has each hop from 1 router to the next and its latency, it was designed to help trouble shoot problems

yep sun = oracle same, stay away from , or at the very lest don't allow java to run in the browser.

Interesting. Sorry for offtopic, so what do you suggest to use instead of it? Like if you want to do pingtest or any other numerous tools online (which require Java)? My browser asks me everytime Java needs to run...

Thanks

Well if you're really just wanting a ping you can open a command prompt and type "ping microsoft.com"  or any web/ip address and it'll run a ping test, no need for java.

Really? What about packet loss and jitter? How are you going to find that out from the CMD? I guess, you would do the calculations yourself Smiley I am to lazy to do that....

O that 1 is easy simply use trace route

ie:
tracert  www.xxx.com

will give ttl and where congestion was found in a command prompt on windows based pc's

well, if it asking that means its not running all the time (that's good) ya old sun/oracle had to come out with a new version system for java due to the constant bug fixes versions that came out.

So if its asking you should be ok, but not really sure if there is alt seeing sun made java, and oracle bought sun...

But for security make sure its not running at all in IE and if possible uninstall IE, it will still get patched by windows update and use either chrome or firefox

quick fix remove and delete java, and never ever ever never ever use java (sun java) not java scrypt.

Problem solved.. Not unless you want to open your pc up to be taken over ..

Java is about a secure as a screen door on a submarine.
