681  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My initial Radeon HD 7970 mining benchmarks on: January 05, 2012, 07:30:49 PM
Totally agree on that Death and Taxes,
Since dec 12 - 2011 many shops got some stock for initial sale with the intention to start selling at 9 januari
breaking this rule and amd finds out will be bad for those shop owners caus amd will not quickly give them new supply
With the 9 jan soon to happen the initial prices will be high as allways
But i think they are going to drop soon if amd really gets enough shipped to every shop

I heard from some shops they already got some big piles stocked up, so seems amd got it all kinda done well.
If the initial stocks of the cards sells out quick and amd can keep up with demand, the prices will soon fall to a more acceptable price.

Because sure as hell many hardcore gamers want to get their hands on these very well performing cards

And then the fun starts with the custom build models with better cooling and higher clocks which will this cards make a clear winner
easy overclocks 1100 to 1400 mhz are reported and reviews and some seem to got it at near 1700 mhz
682  Bitcoin / Pools / p2pool - Decentralized, Absolutely DoS-Proof, Pool Hopping-Proof Pool [archival] on: January 01, 2012, 11:53:48 PM
well i think done enough test at p2pool and got not payed at all again.
so i think for those who stop mining in between and game its a bad choice
the shares i did all disappeared and got paid to who ever is the lucky one, but not to me.
but as i see it only those mining the last 24hours get paid.
683  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Intel vs AMD on: December 27, 2011, 03:16:16 PM
Is their some kinda energy saving mode being turned on/off since it looks like that is happening
Amd cpu tend to go very low in energy save which can be a pain in the ass, when you turn it off and see what happens.
And yes it happens on intel cpu's as well but since the difference is smaller on intel between the steps it has a less annoying effect
684  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: phoenix miner in solo question on: December 27, 2011, 02:54:02 PM
Well after a long time solo mining and seeing 2 rejected blocks i gave up on solo mining since that moment btc prices kept dropping from $15 to under $2.
Then i choose to join pools and have been changing pools alot.
But basically for me mining is and will be allways a loss no matter how much the bitcoin will be worth in the next 5 years
I am currently paying 0.33 euro per Kwh and in januari is announced another 2,5 % eco taxes will be added to this amount now that means that the total amount will be even more again since at the end of the bill they count 20% extra tax over the total amount.
I think Germany will follow the netherlands in their foot steps soon as well, so if you do not have "free" electricity mining is not an option.
The worst is also that we do not have sepa payements implemented before 2013 so trading bitcoins is a pain in the ass as well.
Especiually since i do not want to use the thiefs from paypal.
I have been trying to buy bitcoins since it was under 1,80 euro but have not been able todo so, yes i can make a international money order but the cost is not a joke.
They count 2,5% or a minimum amount 7 euro + and the other side 10% with a minimum of 10 euro does not make it a thing you want todo. I allways thought that netherlands was an early adopter of these things but lol germany uses sepa already since last 2009
So i fear for me i have to say goodbye to bitcoin till 2014 or so, if sepa has been introduced or some other way for trading has been implemented, or bitcoin has become $100 each. but to be honest i think their is for me nothing to gain on bitcoin.
685  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER CPU/GPU miner overclock monitor fanspeed in C linux/windows/osx 2.0.8 on: December 26, 2011, 11:19:32 PM
First of all regarding card memory speeds
My 5870 or 5970 was as it seemed gaining stability and lesser errors when i run them with 300 Mhz instead of 175 Mhz

Second i see with the cgminer 2.0.8 indeed a lot of rejects after some time, sometimes even showing all being rejects
And sometimes i saw cgminer constant reporting longpoll and not accepting work for a long time (5 to 145 minutes)
As a solution i allways restarted cgminer which if you press q ends in a hanging window.
But at some moments my system completely hanged on cgminer
686  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: *Catalyst 12.1 Preview* Decreased performance, anyone else confirm? on: December 22, 2011, 10:52:13 AM
try with different settings cause when i use -v w256 i have a lot less performance
setting it to -v2 -w 128 should fit better on a 5850
687  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: *Catalyst 12.1 Preview* Decreased performance, anyone else confirm? on: December 21, 2011, 07:02:55 PM
well lol i see no cpu bug anymore with cgminer and i see hardly any loss of performance but i start cgminer simple on my 5870, 5970 computers like :

cgminer v 2 w 128 -I D --temp-cutoff 95 --auto-gpu --queue 1 --gpu-powertune 20 --gpu-engine 850-920 --gpu-memclock 300 -o http://192.168.178.5:9332 -u user -p pass

And it runs like charm when i set it to i7 it really keeps a steady average, but i need the machine for other things then mining as well Wink
Setting intensity at higher levels has a negative effect and i do not see any difference using them.
With I D it runs at 420 Mh with i6,i7 or i8 its all the same just when i use other programs i get some loss of performance as expected with -I D

Edit: After some testing they go off again ... untill BTC reached $ 30 again
688  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER CPU/GPU miner overclock monitor fanspeed in C linux/windows/osx 2.0.8 on: December 19, 2011, 09:36:34 AM
You guys have scared me away from ever updating my graphics drivers

Well really honest if you do not game like me, and have no issues which are directly related to screen drivers DO NOT UPDATE Cheesy
I game a lot so yea i have to plunge into the dark deepness of new drivers which often have a fix for the games i play but most of the time the result is that something else gets messed.
But its not allways a true gpu driver problem, i am not going into this further since i becomes really complex if i do so.
Just saying the graphics driver is a very important one in your system and many things try to "talk" to it direct or indirect.
When i get into trouble i either install 11.6 when using cgminer or if possible even much older catalyst versions in the 10.x range.
It seems every version has its problems and the guy who made the wonderfull omega drivers never returned so we are stuck on what nvidia and amd crappy developers put out into the world Cheesy
689  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER CPU/GPU miner overclock monitor fanspeed in C linux/windows/osx 2.0.8 on: December 16, 2011, 08:57:02 AM
Redline888 i am sorry to say but you have to accept that multi gpu mining is never gonna be the same as single gpu mining
No matter what driver you try it fairly simple your cpu is dividing control over those 2 or 3 and that costs a bit of time resulting in a minor less hashing speed which i think will allways be present in systems with more then 1 gpu.
Even under the old ati stream you see a small drop in performance but not so much as with opencl i think this has todo with the fact that its an platform independant design to run on nvidia and amd videocards.

When i start a single 5870 on 920 Mhz i get easy 410 Mh average when i put in the second card it drops to  395 Mh i tried every driver which can run cgminer and all with same  result. A single gpu card setup will allways outperform a multi gpu

At least on windows based platform since i not run any linux i cant tell if that has the same performance hit as well.

Second peak performance is a not so good choice for comparing the results i use only average hash speeds for compare a more real performance indication
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Staff from PBC suggests taking control of bitcoin network. on: December 13, 2011, 09:39:19 AM

Section 6. Recommendations
1. The government and central bank should acknowledge the existence of Bitcoin and deal with it proactively.  Using the top-notch supercomputers at its disposal and using state power to ensure a monopoly on mining power, the central bank could acquire the vast majority of bitcoins.
2. The central bank should set up a Bitcoin bank and an official Bitcoin exchange and become the middleman in Chinese Bitcoin transactions to eliminate Bitcoin's relative anonymity and ensure that Bitcoin commerce can be regulated.
3. The government should push for international acceptance of a Bitcoin-backed currency, establishing a non-sovereign monetary system, to challenge the supremacy of the US dollar and to make the international financial system more harmonious and stable.

Delusional rantings of communists don't concern me.  They think they can control it like they think they control everything else.  Yawn...

lol you think lightly over at current the financial most powerfull country in the world
You seem to forget that china already owns most of us in terms of what they bought, china is more a super power now then the usa would like it to be.
I can buy nothing these days which is not made in china, even so called native companies just put the parts together which almost all are made in china.
And yes if the chinese want they can blow away the whole bitcoin network with their computing power or do you dream that they do not have graphic workstations.
The chinese are everywhere on the planet buying as much as they can, to later have control over every aspect in products we need or worse for the need of china ( energy oil, gas, metals and whatever you can think off )
Bitcoin is succesfull because no governement is controlling it, if the chinese get full control what effect would this have.

691  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: XFX Radeon HD 6950, only 305-310 MH/s on: December 11, 2011, 02:11:58 AM
If i where you try cgminer and see how much that does Wink

For more options start cgminer as follows : cgminer --help

Its so full of options too much to mention here Cheesy

I personally used on my 5870 : ()  means you need to replace it fully example -u tester -p x
cgminer.exe  -v 2 -w 128 -I 7 --gpu-engine 900 --gpu-memclock 450 -o http://mint.bitminter.com:8332 -u (pool username) -p (password used)

If you run windows save it into a miner batch or cmd file so you can start it in a easy way
My sapphire 5870 toxic makes about 440 Mh/s running at 920 Mhz core and 450 Mhz memory with cgminer ofcourse the average speeds are not consistent cause there are too many factors involved
Now i have run this 5870 at 940 Mhz without problems but i see the usage of electra go up so high i think its not worh doing.
I think more important is have a efficient miner which uses not so much electra but with a good average.
Now lol i have a 4770 still running and i had made a copy error it ran 15 minutes at 940 Mhz on the cmd from my 5870 Cheesy
Seeing such a small card doing 108 Mh/s scared the hell out of me Cheesy
I know some people get these cards well near or over 1000 Mhz but i really think its not good to do so, even stronger i think my cards can run these speeds also but again its useless because the power usage goes through the roof.
692  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [70 GH/s PPLNS] BitMinter.com *** Merged Mining! *** on: December 10, 2011, 02:31:48 PM
You can send any coin to an exchange and there buy the coins you want
The one i use the most is BTC-E where i do change litecoin and namecoin into bitcoin
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: December 07, 2011, 03:19:47 PM
I somehow seem to stumble upon a weird problem with the use of p2pool and the 5.0.4 litecoind.exe
Even though payouts are being done to the assgined adresses you can not see them.
I tried litecoind getbalance over a long period of time but it does not matter how long it runs they simply stay the same. i have to close the deamon and start the gui to see that payements has come in
At first i thought its the p2pool but i start to think its a bug in litecoind
694  Bitcoin / Pools / p2pool - Decentralized, Absolutely DoS-Proof, Pool Hopping-Proof Pool [archival] on: December 06, 2011, 02:28:47 AM
Its a nice concept but yes setting it up is some work in progress
For now even though it costs some time and effort when you finally got it running, it really runs well as long as it does not loose connection with the net.
Now a gui would be nice and most important a way to get stats from each worker/client and so on.
Cause we all thrive on the numbers and stats, without them any miner feels naked and lonely Cheesy
So to make a long story short STATS, STATS and more STATS Wink
695  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Nederlands! on: December 03, 2011, 08:13:11 PM

696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Pushpool - Tech Support on: December 01, 2011, 04:15:17 PM
Hi!

After days trying this... I'm sure that I'm close to start my first pool!

I'm running: pushpool-0.5.1, mysql, memcached and Litecoin (with LongPool patch applied).

 I run pushpool with: "pushpoold -c /home/administrativo/server.json -D 2 -E -F"

Every time litecoin found a new block, I see at pushpool: "USR1 signal received, flushing LP waiters"

All appear to be working okay but, when I connect my minerd at my pool, I don't get any "PROOF OF WORK RESULT: true (yay!!!)", even after minutes!

 But why?!

EDIT: AND... I don't see the message "Long-polling activated for http://mypool:9334/LP"... Any tips!? I disable it for tests... lol

I'm planning to use the mmcFE web interface, it is pretty awesome and clean!

Best!
Thiago

Well its simple to me your pool software is not working at all if you do not get shares.
When you see no result it means your simply solo mining, that means only if you actually found and solved the complete block (50 coins )
So only when this block is found you see result in your miners it does not matter if it is litecoin or other currency
When you run a pool you should see many shares find in shorter time, when solo mining you can wait for days or even up to years without seeing a valid block depending on hashpower
But even if you found one it can result in a REJECT meaning you get silch, zero, nada, nothing, no way jose.

For example when i started mining litecoin i made 1 to 2 blocks a day with around 20 kh/s
Now with so much increased difficulty its at about 7 days before i find a block or even 14 days happened
To make it simple the value of litecoin does not cover the costs anymore for mine them in my view, simply because huge company owned miners jumped onto litecoin making it for

when i try to send small donation to coblee i get : error: {"code":-4,"message":"Error: Transaction creation failed  "}
the goal is to empty out the old wallet.dat cause its over 51 Mb in size with only small amount in it because of the nasty spamming

698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Litecoin Pool] Elitist Jerks 0% Fee PPLNS 1.5 mh/s on: November 09, 2011, 04:18:42 PM
I sure have to add that i am having fun too at the pool
And last but not least in the irc channel where we can be found at a daily basis
Where some of us seems to allways be present
Do not hesitate to ask for help because if we can we will
But lol we are jerks
699  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Nederlands! on: November 05, 2011, 11:00:39 PM
700  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [65 GH/s PPLNS] BitMinter.com *** Merged Mining! *** on: November 05, 2011, 08:38:28 AM
60th block is almost upon us though. Not that I have intentions of switching after the promotion runs out, the pool works great, fees are low and I like mining for a smaller pool; its good for bitcoin and it makes things just a tad more exciting Smiley
I could not have said it better Cheesy
I like the pool and the admin does whatever he can to make it good and smooth for all to use.

So this far its the one i like the most and the bonus well, more more more xD
