3801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Confused? on: March 22, 2011, 05:09:37 AM
You own your Bitcoins because they are associated with your private keys which only you have and keep secret. The private keys are stored in a file called wallet.dat (%appdata\Bitcoin in Windows). Therefore, you should back it up and encrypt it if you don’t want to lose your Bitcoins.
3802  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Need 34.14 USD exchanged to BTC via PayPal - Paying 4 BTC on: March 22, 2011, 05:04:49 AM
I’ll do it if anyone reputable who you traded with can vouch for you. Or maybe if you can link your identity to an Ebay Account etc.

Also, you didn’t mention the exchange rate. I’m offering 0.9$ – if you can provide proof of your reputation.
3803  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Paypal for Bitcoins on: March 22, 2011, 02:06:19 AM
Without any reputation (maybe ebay or something?), noone will sell you higher sums for PayPal, as the risk for chargeback fraud is great.
3804  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn 31BTC or 20-21BTC for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin on: March 21, 2011, 03:56:48 PM
Okay, I’ve sent the mail now and suggested Mt.Gox. I don’t see any really superior alternative except maybe for trading with individuals who’ll buy at lower rates and sell at exchanges for profit – which I mentioned too.
3805  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn 31BTC or 20-21BTC for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin on: March 21, 2011, 03:11:44 PM
Yep. Can you even send USD to normal European bank accounts? I don’t think they’d like complicated workarounds.

Maybe there’s a better alternative to MtGox for EUR? I haven’t really checked all possibilities.
3806  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn 31BTC or 20-21BTC for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin on: March 21, 2011, 02:55:05 PM
I’ve just recieved an answer from getdigital.de: http://paste.pocoo.org/raw/357150/

They would very much like to use Bitcoin, but they have little time for this atm, although they state that they are going to eventually.

Also, a question that came up is what the best way to convert BTC to EUR would be… Can you send EUR to MtGox and they convert it? Your thoughts on how I should respond?
3807  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn 31BTC or 21BTC for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin on: March 21, 2011, 02:31:40 PM
I just sent a second request to getdigital.de, let's see what they respond Smiley
The third, I sent them a mail yesterday. Cheesy
3808  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Pledge for DOSBox donations (21 BTC so far) on: March 21, 2011, 12:26:15 PM
What the hell, I'll pledge 1 BTC. I don't really use DOSBox, but I do support the general idea of getting high-profile projects to accept Bitcoin.
You should definitely have a look at http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4667.0 then.

Does the EFA count? (electronic frontiers australia) who I contacted awhile ago and I think are wanting to setup a bitcoin donate address.
As soon as they put it on their donation page, certainly. Wink
3811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin == terrorism? on: March 20, 2011, 10:01:55 PM
Also anyone that thinks btc is below the radar is wrong.
Care to elaborate?
3812  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Get shops to accept Bitcoins on: March 20, 2011, 05:19:43 AM
Note this thread, by the way. That should provide higher incentive.

Services like cam4 is a very good idea in my opinion. Thanks for your input.
3813  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn Bitcoins (20 or 10) for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin on: March 20, 2011, 03:37:05 AM
Thanks, Mahkul. Hopefully, that will be a sufficient filter.

Also, I will fill this thread of more org's and projects than you can count. Promise! Cheesy
Just make sure that it fits the criteria. Tongue
3814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bubble imminent on: March 20, 2011, 03:12:33 AM
Bitcoin value is now at 0.6

It's still above 0.7, today's low is 0.73 (mtgox)

not on bitcoin central.
Are you looking at the Euro? LRUSD is .83 on Bitcoin Central.
3815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin on Omega Tau podcast on: March 20, 2011, 01:46:40 AM
I liked it a lot, too. Usually, I show more technically interested people the episode on Security Now, but this surpasses it by far, due to its length and Gavin on board, so it will be my new reference from now on. Smiley
3816  Economy / Economics / Re: Too many mics not enough MCs - the drop in BTC value on: March 19, 2011, 10:59:30 PM
Looks like you forgot to consider that every four years (approximately), the inflation rate is reduced by 50%, so inflation in 2013 would be around 8.5% etc. – check this graph.
3817  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn Bitcoins (20 or 10) for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin on: March 19, 2011, 08:58:34 PM
What kind of shop is that? I’ve never heard of it.

I’ll add to OPs restrictions that the shop/organisation needs to have a website with a Google Page rank of at least 3 in order to get awarded with my bounty, because I don’t really care about obscure, unknown shops.
3818  Economy / Economics / Re: Too many mics not enough MCs - the drop in BTC value on: March 19, 2011, 06:23:43 PM
I absolutely agree with the OP and also with bitcool. It’s a bit of a hen-egg-problem though, because if you market Bitcoin to a broader audience at this stage, they could be scared off as it’s not easy to handle and there are few shops accepting it. On the other hand, features/applications needed to reach this audience don’t have enough demand at this moment.

If we don’t manage to continue this influx of new users we had, a continuing price reduction would be unavoidable as we are in a highly inflationary phase. A further devaluation and volatility could lead to less trust in Bitcoin, causing it to devaluate at an even faster rate.
3819  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn Bitcoins for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin on: March 19, 2011, 05:13:15 PM
I'll pledge another 5 per shop and 2.5 per organization.
I’ll pledge the same amount, this is a great idea. So it’s 20 per shop and 10 per organization now.
3820  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC, an alternative to Paypal? on: March 19, 2011, 05:08:46 PM
And how do you handle unjust chargebacks? Does PayPal sort it out in your favor or do you blacklist the scammer’s IP/PayPal-Mail and just swallow the loss?
