I would buy one at 2btc
222  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: BFL 500 GH Mini Rig IN HAND !@! on: March 30, 2014, 02:53:39 AM
Also looking to sell FAST  Grin
That is quite incompatible with your price.  Knowing that 3 ants beats your machine and costs 2.7 BTC what will you sell yours for?   And the ants are new and use half the power.

223  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: BFL 500 GH Mini Rig IN HAND !@! on: March 29, 2014, 11:15:16 PM
With current BTC prices i could take 6 btc for it plus shipping.

As I have illustrated it is not worth that. It might make 3btc back in lifetime if power was free.  2100w is a lot of power.

Protip:   eBay.

It is not worth $2000 but someone on eBay may pay that for it anyhow.  Remember 10% or so fees.
224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crazy multinational Bitcoin possibilities for moving profits due to guidance on: March 29, 2014, 03:18:55 AM
Don't they already do this with dollars?

Why would they need to complicate things with Bitcoin?

Correct, large corporations already have these mechanisms.

If anything, it makes it easier for small businesses to set up subsidiaries and transfer money when necessary.

It makes it cheaper, not more expensive, to execute these kind of schemes.

It might, but I think it still favors the bigger companies.
225  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: BFL 500 GH Mini Rig IN HAND !@! on: March 29, 2014, 03:02:23 AM
bump it up cmon boys give me real offers.

Hard to go above 2 BTC when 1.8 BTC will buy 400 GH of Antminers that use 800W.  Your unit uses 2100W yet is only 20% faster.

If you put in a mining calculator two antminers after 90 days after power you make $1022

If you put in the BFL 500 after 90 days you get $1044.  Power cost is taking almost all of the extra speed advantage.

At the 90 day point the ANTminers are more profitable due to the lower power usage.   This is at 10 cents a KWh.  If your in NYC or CA, forget about it.  If you are in a lower power place you might do OK with the BFL 500.

I have an Ant that is troubling me.  It has a very high number of discarded shares.  Is this normal?

228  Economy / Speculation / Re: Russia to Drop USD as reserve currency - could mean 5000+ USD bitcoins on: March 27, 2014, 10:59:20 PM
Even if they do not choose cryptocurrencies as an alternative option, this could trigger a massive USD devaluation which in turn will be good for crypto:

http://in.reuters.com/article/2014/03/04/ukraine-crisis-russia-us-idINDEEA2305J20140304

“We will have to move into other currencies, create our own settlement system.”

Yay. How about a sanction proof global currency? BTC

Sorry.  Quote the BILLIONS of dollars Russia has had and it sounds big.  Realize that it takes TRILLIONS of dollars to move the market.  Russia in the past few weeks has already dumped 1/2 of it's USD holdings/bonds etc with almost ZERO effect.

If China or Germany did it there would be a problem.  Not Russia.

I don't think you read what I said.

They are would be doing sales of Bitcoin VS local currency.  Moving $1,000,000 from AG to AU directly as dollars or through a currency exchange has VERY DIFFERENT tax implications than creating losses and gains where needed by selling and buying Bitcoin through different multinational companies.
230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crazy multinational Bitcoin possibilities for moving profits due to guidance on: March 27, 2014, 09:52:29 PM
The recent guidance from the IRS may allow for some very serious big businesses to play some new tax games quite legally. Imagine if Apple Ireland (AI), Apple USA (AU) and Apple Germany (AG) each buy 100000 BTC. Or maybe just one of them at first (AG).

AG buys at 500. Now the price drops to 450. AG sells to AI and can note a loss. Now that price climbs back up to 500, AU can buy them and AI takes a profit.

With the right software counting for various countries rules you could play some pretty serious (legal) games with gains and losses. Apple overall is not selling or buying to outsiders so the net is the same overall.. This could be a new way of moving profits around the globe with no risk. The coins do move on the blockchain but Apple never goes to a broker. All is done by Apple employees. Fees here are irrelevant.

When you add in the complexity of differing rules for differing countries it even gets more wild what you could do as a high powered accountant. Complexity like this is VERY BAD for the little guy, but VERY GOOD for the big company with lawyers and lots of power and money to back it up.

231  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER ASIC miner monitoring RPC linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.2.1 on: March 27, 2014, 04:57:52 PM
Well if I disconnect the power and re-connect after 10-15min it runs normally for 5-10min and then the it brakes down. Am clueless Sad
It sounds like a hardware problem - but since it is all custom hardware, it's most likely a bitmain hardware issue for them to fix, since we know the software works under normal conditions for literally 10 of thousands of antminers.

Try downclocking it and see if it fixes it.  If you do not have to downclock it too far it might be worth keeping now vs sending back.
232  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 500 Gh/s for $1400 on eBay. Worth it? on: March 26, 2014, 03:38:39 AM
Technically its worth it.  If you use a calculator you'll earn more than $1500 back in just over a month.  Problem is ebay doesn't deal with warranties which is technically what you're getting into when you're talking about a dispute months down the road.

The point I'm getting to is whats to stop the seller from cutting you off after 30 days or heck maybe right after you leave positive feedback?

If it were 100-200gh I'd say its favored for the seller but yours seems like a scam to me.

Or cutting you off after 3 months when it is much harder to get a paypal refund.
233  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Still worth it to buy antminer s1 on: March 26, 2014, 03:32:01 AM
mine with it for 60 days then sell it.

why is it 60 days ?

60 days will probably net you about .75btc from mining . eBay you will probably net $600 after shipping and fees

So the miner costs you $550 in btc you make $50 profit there and you still have .75 btc =$400

$450 profit ROUGHLY without breaking out a calculator.

Phil is better with the actual numbers then I am.

After 60 days it will not go for $600 though you might get $450.  Then take $50 in ebay fees.

You still you could make $250.  But I doubt you will make $450.
234  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Best PSU for Antminer S1 on: March 26, 2014, 02:51:16 AM
Remember that you can't just go by the watt rating alone.

This PSU is technically 850W, and it has enough PCIe plugs to handle 2 Ants, but there are some major issues! First, load balancing the rails would be a giant PITA. Second, I wouldn't guarantee the quality. And third, and most importantly, it can only handle 720W (60A) for all of the 12v rails combined. This is barely enough to handle the 2 Ants at stock, and you wouldn't be able to OC at all. Consider this a PSU to stay way from.

On the flip side, you have this PSU. Same max wattage, same number of PCIe plugs, but it's a strong (70A) single rail (no load balance, and no OC limits), and it's by a more reputable company. You could easily handle 2 Ants on this PSU with no worries.

If you really want something that's simple amazing, try this PSU. It's very similar to the one above, but is 92% efficient (80Plus Gold), and is completely modular. You would be hard pressed to find a better PSU for 2 Ants.

In short, don't skimp on the PSU. It has the ability to make your mining ventures a constant pain in your neck, or it has the ability to make your rigs completely rock solid.

If you shop around you will want a single rail IMHO.  After messing with a TON of options, I nailed it down to CX750s. One can power two overclocked antminer S1s

The CX750 is a good power supply.  That being said I would hesitate to use it for two overclocked ants.  That is a little tight and it may not last as long.  It would be fine with non-overclocked.  The 850 is more expensive but a better choice for two overclocked ants.
235  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Is Dying, And why it is different this time. on: March 26, 2014, 02:44:39 AM
This is it folks and toddlers, the hard metallic rain drops have turned into but a mere sprinkle. The freight train is loosing its steam, a blimp in the history books of what is to be a stepping stone to Maglevs and Hyperloops. The ignorent bag holders holding their pitch forks ready to strike at any form of basic logic about what technology has taught us time and time again; "The only thing that is constant is change". One peek at this forum sends chills down the spine of an innocent onlooker, but alas, one sees but a circular formation and within a white mist of an uncanny bliss of ignorance only to be excelled by the next recruits that wish to bask in such alluring prospects of wealth and status, oh but an innocent dream to be, an unknowing trap to bash a handle until one eyes fade, skin turn into but a soft stretchy mesh that signals your inevitability; to make way for the new born's to be.

Did you use a gibberish generator to make this?
236  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: BFL 500 GH Mini Rig IN HAND !@! on: March 25, 2014, 09:54:37 PM
Can I start the bidding @ 1.75BTC and I pay shipping to the EU?

Please PM me if you are planning to sell to another bidder , I might be able to give you a higher offer.
I would go 2 BTC or equivalent USD so you would need to beat that.

Even if you had 100 of these you are only making 1.7BTC per day non overclock  Cry

http://coinprice.us/ionux/100_antminers.jpg

 Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

Just the figures don't add up - PSU - Power cost - Shipping fee's - If you have the money then yeah would be a big risk

I was looking to set up a UK Farm well up in Scotland free cooling aha.

If you ran 100 S1s say in the UK to buy these in inc custom fee based at 500USD per ant = 1.29BTC per ant = 129BTC PSU per ant 0.11 BTC

100 S1 - 129
100 PSU - 11
Switch - 1.35
Racks - 3
Custom power - 2

Total setup BTC cost - 146.35 BTC
£52686.00
$87037.25

https://tradeblock.com/mining/a/5fe2e12def

Never would you make a profit - get my drift ?

It looks bad and yet you did not really add in the power.  You have 350W when it is 100x that.
239  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Vircurex unfair distribution of what was left, why? on: March 25, 2014, 03:37:06 PM
why didn't they do a proportional distribution of what was left? I had all my holdings frozen. this is unbelievable. at least they should have left something to everybody so they could continue working on their platform. this was not fair at all. quite disappointed about the way they managed all this. I won't move a btc or ltc back to vircurex. I'm finished there unless I have some of my frozen holding released.

I have no idea what they were thinking.  It should have been proportional or at least proportional per coin.
240  Other / Archival / Re: closed on: March 25, 2014, 03:32:00 PM
I had only a small amount there.  Before the freeze I had 71 FTC.  After it was all available, I withdrew it directly.
