541  Economy / Goods / Re: New BitCoin accepted here sticker standard printing only $1.98 in BTC shipped US on: October 16, 2013, 10:45:03 PM
Hey there.  Do you still have these stickers in stock?  I'd like to purchase 10 of them.

Thanks!
-EP

Yes, I have plenty in stock ready to go!

Funny how the topic is "Removing old  coin uncertainty" yet by these proposals we are doing just the opposite.

If you leave them alone (which we will) you are creating certainty. If you store your coins properly they will be safe and untouched for when you need them and outside forces will not change this.

Well now there goes that rally!  This thread is the poison that usually stops it.

Maybe you should say what the cost is

The cost of the BFL 60 was $1299 USD.  I do not know what he was charged for shipping.

the next generations will follow as:

server grade 28nm bitcoin miners.   used for data centers.  That phase is already going on behind your backs.

the next phase after that is to go toward ~14nm bitcoin miners for data center usage.

I can tell you this...there are a few people making 28nm data center miners right now.

The only other way to be competitive is create a miner product that is reliable, cheap, easy to scale,  and cost efficient.  Hence bitfury 55nm chip.

Sorry that was not me.  I am referring to about 6 companies going 28nm for data center usage.   14nm will be the generation after that.

There will be a lot of optimizing done for 28nm as well as 22nm designs before we get to 14nm.

^doesnt seem like KNC has many "inexcusable" issues, but there are 'annecdotal' (in quotes because its not widespread) accounts of:

-capacitors blowing/catching fire (primarily with a specific update 0.93)
-units hashing under 300GH or instability (good chance some small tuning or setup adjustment swill fix many of these)
- units arriving with fans or heatsinks knocked off
- units with poorly-attached heatsinks and/or poor use of thermal paste (i assume a minor issue unless whoever did it was sloppy)

KNC is lucky this is being treated as a device for technically savy users.  If a normal person got this item they would plug it in fans in right or not and it would be a disaster.  Many KNC customers can fix it themselves and have the parts like fans and heat paste.  Imagine how much it would cost them if they had to send each failing unit back or pay for a tech to fix them.

550  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How Much is a 50 GH/s BFL Bitcoin Miner Worth on: October 11, 2013, 06:25:51 PM
I would say 30% increase is optimistic, 20% is unrealistic.

How about 30% for the next two periods, then 20% after that?

Stuff burning up or failing.  Falling behind on shipping orders.  Promised hashrates not being delivered.  No communication from KnC about any of it, they suddenly stopped saying anything.  Just about their whole customer base has started going ballistic...

They're knocking themselves out of the game very quickly...

I don't envy them to be honest, they have a lot of customers with a lot riding on their success (as all of these companies do). It does seem though that the worst thing that you can do in this kind of situation is close off the lines of communication - this forum breeds lynch mobs pretty quickly. Even if everybody is needed down in the factory building kit 24/7 it surely pays to have one guy/girl in the office calming the crowds.

heh, JOSH ;p

yeah the KNC rollout loks spotty. on time, with many good units and 500GH speeds, but also lots of poor performance units

KNC did not do long burn test on asic miner and maybe too much for OC.

They made a HUGE mistake by going too far with the OC.  They promised a lower number and could have delivered that without anyone saying anything.  But instead they took it to the max which is causing more heat in data center, problems with voltage regulators and if there is a fan issue much worse things tend to happen.  I doubt they tried the full overclock they delivered for more then 48 hours with more then a few units.  If they did they would have seen they pushed it too far.

On an offtopic note... seems like KnC customers are having a lot of problems

a) The fire extinguisher was not included.
b) Not enough packing. (leading do many problems with fans falling off, bad heat conduction)
c) Not shipping on the dates expected. (with no talk of compensation so far)
d) Serious problems with hosted miners. (with no talk of compensation so far)

553  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] new products PLAN B shirt S-XXL and market anarchy magnets on: October 11, 2013, 03:26:09 AM
How much to ship worldwide ?
The postage for the magnets are $2-3 and the shirts $6 - $8. Sending groups of items makes more sense then one at a time. I charge actual postage cost.

Small stickers can be sent in a letter envelope for as little as $1
554  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retina, 2.7ghz i7, 16gb RAM, 768SSD, Apple Care on: October 11, 2013, 01:56:58 AM
So what you're telling me in your advert is I an get the same machine for $3500 on Apple Store and you're providing a near $300 discount. Wow.

Only...

Wait...

You have a machine that is over 1 year old.

I think you should change your pricing.

I just did ran it through the website: configured the same, with 3-years of AppleCare: $3548.00.

Plus sales-tax (shipping is free from Apple), so in my zip-code Apple wants to collect $270.36 as well, so roughly 7%. Much higher in some other parts of the country, lower in some, and if your in Europe much higher.

So $3,818.36 - without a shell-case (which isn't perfect, but I'll include it)

So at $3250, that's 15% off (for an immaculate product) with original packaging, which I think more than covers the depreciation of a year, and 1 year of AppleCare.

Also at the current exchange rate ~$126.00/1BTC, @25BTC, that's $3150, that's 17% off, and if you think BTC will continue to appreciate as I do you might be able to negotiate a deal.

Perhaps you should make an offer before you comment on a price and try to convince other's they're getting a bad deal.

$2619 with one year warranty.

Why?  They seem to not want our money.  PLEASE don't try to force it on them.

BFL hardware WILL BE obsolete in a matter of weeks,my 30GH'er consumes 130+ watts & earns .08BTC perday= 4.3 watts per GH  Roll Eyes

Maybe 16 weeks at a 90% per month difficulty increase with no slowdown.  But looks like that is starting to level out giving more time of profitability.

559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Brainstorm] Implications of Blacklisting DPR's Seized Bitcoins on: October 09, 2013, 02:14:23 AM
You and several other people blacklist it and vow to never accept bitcoins from that address.

And the rest of us will accept them and they will propagate out to the whole network.

As I said before, it would be interesting to see what happens if the coins were sent TO MTGOX for exchange.  The US Government has taken Bitcoins from MTGOX via seizure.
