Hmm well ... that's a little unexpected ... anyone know who happens to have a spare 500THs laying around and pointed it at my Kano account?
It's actually from nicehash in texas and it's been going for a few hours ...
As mentioned before, I'm not keen on rentals at all, so I'm wondering what this is ...

Why would anyone use nicehash at this pool or rent 500th then point it here makes no sense at all.

Kano did say he was trying to get higher in the rankings.  I guess someone decided to help him?

Quick question: I am leaving Coinbase and changed my payout address, however since the payment for 501835 and 501739 are pending will they get updated to the new address or will they still go to coinbase?

The transactions are already sent, just not confirmed.

That means when they are confirmed, they will go to the address on file when the transactions were sent.

Minerwarez and / or Canaan has oversold the 741s. I’ve ordered 6 of them on October 25th and all I’ve got is 3 emails about delays then after they’ve held my money for 70 days they want to give me a “deal on some 821s”

And wait another 3 months. I am so disappointed in Minerwarez. And Canaan.

I would place the blame squarely on Canaan.  They did the same thing a number of months back before they had official resellers.  It took them a month to tell me they oversold and can no longer ship small quantities and could not fill my orders.  Fortunately I hadn't paid for them yet.

M

If they can’t fill an order of 6 I doubt they can support their 90 day warranty. This is extremely bad for Canaan.

I was wondering about this too.

HI Kano,

is there a way for you to help me Accelerate two transactions? i sent them from a very old wallet to my new wallet, at the time i didnt know how much the fees hiked since the old wallet software was built. the fee attached to the TX below are 0.0002, and 0.0004 respectively, and i don't knwo hwo to get them accelrated, theyve been stuck in limbo for a week + now:

9fa92a28c197cd050368885d9af530ef18239e042de903a65da23166e1f6a83c

4499dcd41be206d26c7354a5d8fc686069bc7ae0671a58b970857e34c188e335

thanks for any help you can lend!

There's a free tx accelerator here: https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

Also, you may be able to "double spend" these transactions with a higher fee to get them moved.  How you do that depends on the wallet you are using.

There was a comment about limiting to one or two per person in the BLOKFORGE thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2627311.msg27017479#msg27017479
Of course, that is just one US based distributor.

I hope their prices are unrealistic.  $5000 for an S9, and $9999 for an A8?

Don't have to worry about me buying too many at those prices.

We need a recruitment effort. IMHO...

I agree.  We all have signatures.  Use them! Smiley

Agreed, it would be nice to increase Hash at twice the Diff increase. I personally am going to buy the new Canaan A8 miners when they come out this month. All will be pointed at KANO. If each miner in the Pool would add 10% mining capacity..... we are there.

I'm curious how you're so certain you'll be able to nab a few?  From what I read they are going to be in extremely short supply.

I can probably take two, and then I'm at max power.

M
Well I vaguely remember seeing discussions about buying, that have mentioned restrictions on the number you could buy.
So, if that happens with the A8s, that will give a chance for a lot of people to get a small number of miners each.
Though, I can't remember where I saw that ... ... ...

I've seen lots of emails from Steve @ Caanan, however they appear to be directed to resellers and large buyers.  Since they don't sell directly to the US anymore, I was figuring I'd have to buy through their reseller here, and I haven't seen anything indicating when the reseller will have them available.

Increase in difficulty hurts everyone on the network and the same % for all hashing power. The mining calculator for monthly(30 day) BTC earn at H hasing power:
[...]

Well said.

The only part that I'd add is the pool has to grow at least as fast as difficulty does, else variance will get worse.  Ideally faster to reduce the likelihood of blocks from hell.

Can you talk a little bit about why this may be different from block-to-block? I totally get (or at least I think I do) that payouts for previous blocks may wait until a new block is mined by kano.is. What I am not clear on is why I would not get a payout (yet) when a block is mined by kano.is, when I did get a payout when previous blocks were mined (either for that block or for shares of previous ones).

IOW, I got a payout very soon after blocks 500622, 500907, and 501739. My understanding is that those payouts may have been for previously mined blocks. However, if that is the case, why would I not get a payout when 501835 was mined, for the previous shares or current?

I could jump to my own conclusions but would love to have some light shed by those who know more. Is it that the payouts for the previously mined block were confirmed by another pool, but those for 501835 are not (yet)? If so, why were the previous payouts so (relatively) quick after the block was mined, compared to 501835?

I'm much more curious than I am doubtful or suspicious - I'm sure the payout(s) will come I'd just love to know more about the tempo.

There are 2 ways that a payout will occur.

1) The prior block(s) have confirmed, and the pool finds a block.
2) The prior block(s) have confirmed, and another pool confirms the payout.

The pool is configured to use #1, however sometimes #2 happens.

The last block the pool found (#2195) was before the prior block had confirmed.  Hence it couldn't include the payout from the prior block.

So where we are now, is payouts from the prior two blocks are sitting out there.  Either #1 or #2 will happen, eventually.

Kano.is very clear here in this Forum with that problem on payments. But not on their own Website. I do not think that People want to research too much time.
And this year has just begun... "sometime this year" is not very clear in my opinion.

Im disappointed.

"Dust payments are not automatically sent out" sounds like Bitcoins can be payed out, but not automatically .

Thats what made me confuse.

It's a fair point.  One that has come up more than once.

However, to put things into perspective, 0.0001 BTC is worth $1.36.  The reason dust payments aren't sent is because it costs more to send them than the value of the transaction.  Or, if sent without a transaction fee, there's a good chance you'll never get them.

Looks like a 3.2% increase in difficulty is about to hit.  That puts it around 1.93 trillion.

So I ordered a pair of S9's a couple months ago, due to be delivered late Jan.

While searching for a pool i came across this thread.  I've been following along for a couple weeks now and have been rooting for ya'll to get some blocks.  When you hit these last 2 I was so pumped for you guys.  I can't wait to join the fun.

Happy New Year!

Welcome!  Hope your miners show up early, like others have reported happening to them!

It says on the payment page the payments below .0001 btc are not sent out yet. I figured it would add up and I would get a payment. Is that not how it works?

Not yet.  The pool op (Kano) is still working on modifying the pool code to securely and accurately process dust payments.

Mine on guys, Happy new year to you all and let's crack a block before midnight  Grin

One more block that contains the payouts for the these last 2 blocks would be pretty sweet.

Before midnight of course.

Shipment of S9's came in - I convinced my friend to point his to Kano as well. His 7 are now up and running, I added 4 - so +148.5 TH today. I ran out of power cords for 3 more, and pending shipping 3 from Bitmain and 1 at customs that I need to apply for my import licence.

That's useful!

The important thing, though, is for the pool to grow faster than the network hashrate does.  Otherwise nothing changes for us.

I think that means new miners coming on.  There's not too much I can do to increase my hash power short of replacing 741s with the new Avalons coming out next year.  Which of course others will be doing too...

Out of the 4 S9's I purchased, 3 were due end of January and 4th end of February. I already got the first 2 weeks ago, 2nd delivering today and just got an email that the 3rd is shipped. I'm excited to be getting them early but I'm also wondering if this is common or is something going on. Maybe to compete better? Maybe the next generation is close? Either way I'm not sure how wise it is to keep buying them when available since something bigger and better could be just around the corner. I am interested in the new canaan 821/841 if the price is right but it's just essentially a slightly slower version of the S9.

With 3 by the first week of January I'm going to have to get them into a data center. Question would be how much I would suffer having to shut them down for 2-4 hours? I know I'll start to ramp down and then back up again but how big of a blow do you think this will be?

Depends entirely on the 5N period.  Right now it's around 14 days?  If so, 2-4 hours is a drop in the bucket.
