FYI, Last couple of days mdude.org has been "Under Construction".

Maybe I missed something in the thread about changing hosting.

Inquiring minds wanna' know.

Thanks for all you do.

Actually it's always said that. Smiley I don't use it for anything except file distribution.

662  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: February 13, 2015, 01:49:04 AM
Ya the jury is still out on  SSD drive,  I have setup one of the 14 S5 going in next week will run them for the next 4-5 days them ship them to the data center.  Then fly down and install the S5 and remove the older s1 and s2.

So far the S5 is running at spec no issues at all, but did change the queue to 0.  They have created a user config file now they refer to for the queue settings.

Not to bad.

I'd be interested to know how well the group of S5s hash over time. As it stands right now, I have to power cycle my S3s every week or so, otherwise they slow down as a group by more than 10% after about two weeks. A soft reboot won't fix it either, it has to be a hard power cut. Makes me wish I had gotten switch duty circuit breakers.

I know my GetBlockTemplate latency went way down once I switched to SSD, but that was multiple bitcoin versions ago, so maybe the newer versions don't have that problem.

You know, this must be a Bitmain firmware problem.  I was running my S4s on p2pool for quite a few days, and I noticed a disturbing trend.  The hash rate starts to drop and drop, until running at 1.5 TH/s or less.  Today it came on quite suddenly.  I'm pretty sure this morning they were running at 2 TH/s, and when I came home from work, one was at 1.3 TH/s and one was at 1.5 TH/s.  Soft reboots usually fix them.  But I can't have them running that low when I'm not around to baby sit them, so they are back to ckpool. Sad

I remember my S2s used to do this as well.  They just didn't like running on p2pool, and would eventually start to behave erratically.

I could never get my S3s to work properly on p2pool.

whats going on with the network? 57 minutes since the last block find?  Huh Shocked

Luck applies everywhere.

I'm glad to see projected difficulty change leveling out.  At current price, increases in difficulty are insane.

144 is standard

Feb 9-----  164
Feb 10 ---  142
Feb 11 ---  159

Currently at 9.88 mins between blocks.  If it stays that way, we're looking at 1.2% increase.  Of course 2/23 is a long way away... things can change a lot between now and then.

665  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] - Toronto/Montreal - Spondoolies-Tech SP31 units, shipped from colocation on: February 11, 2015, 05:31:44 PM
I just ordered 6 SP20 direct from them, for $3050 CAD.
That's nearly 10T/Hash

So I'd agree $1500-1700 is about all he is going to see, and that's CAD.
Especially for used gear, which could of been run over clocked for the last how many months.

you're talking about 10TH/7kw (wall) though.  The Sp31 performs around 4.7-4.9TH/2.8-3.0kW (wall) so is noticably more efficient, and as mentioned includes a pair of high-end server power supplies.

I'm open to offers, but the price wont be as low as your $1500-1700 cad - sorry

The reality is used miners are like used cars.  As soon as you use them, they lose value, and you won't be able to get as much for them as you'd like.  As stated above, the hardware could be abused and in poor condition.

M

i think its actually quite different. used miners are virtually no different from new, other than successfully logging weeks or months of use without issues. There might be a bit of dust inside that a new miner wont have, but otherwise its the same product. I understand these wont sell for more than a new unit, but dont expect them to be at clearance prices

The car you just drove off the lot is really no different from new technically either.  But it immediately depreciated..

Someone just sold some SP30s here for 3.8 BTC, thats not far from what you can get from here.  You should try eBay to sell at those higher prices.  I'll offer you 4 BTC here for one with OGNasty as escrow.

There must have been something wrong with them.  3.8 is way too low for SP30s.

If I had the coin, I'd offer the equiv of $1700 shipped.

Hi,
i mining in f2pool for 2 weeks.
last night 2 of my S4s shows they find 10 blocks!

is this a glitch or real?
f2pool block page is not update, so i can't figured out it was me or not.
https://www.f2pool.com/bitcoin-blocks

If the "bestshare" size is over 44,455,415,963, then you found at least one block.

I'd like to point out you can buy brand new SP31s from the Spondoolie's site for $2,075 + shipping.

M

Yah... your prices are crazy for used sorry

hmm, well im open to offers. Im helping a friend sell them so its not me setting the price. Ive updated the OP with slightly lower prices to try and keep realistic, but considering that the SP31 is basically 4xSP20 with built-in 2500W of power supplies, being about 4.5-5x the cost of an SP20 makes sense

Except for the fact new is $300 cheaper.  In fact, I could buy one new, not open it, and sell it for less than your price and still make a $100!

$1700 is a more realistic price.

Yeah... probably means the fans are running way too fast causing a hotspot because the air can't circulate properly.

671  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: February 11, 2015, 01:48:52 AM
yes 61...  a bit too high but every customer have different deployment method.  Looking at the running up time, at least the high end is stable or managed some how, so it's not crushing the unit.

The highest is 61 and the lowest is 28.  That's a bit weird.

Lets make things interesting by calculating an average of 3-4% diff jumps every 13 days @ .11 kw/hr.  Mined btc drops by 40% in 90 days.

those diff jumps will grind to a halt quickly though. unless the price pushes past $250 its unlikely difficulty will exceed 55B until the next generation of hardware is available.

once spring comes and things warm u, a lot of home miners have to sell or turn off gear to keep cool and save money when summer electricity rates begin

Its not just home miners, big farms and their speeds are impacted by the heat as well.

Remember not all miners are in the northern hemisphere.  It's slowly warming up on the top side of the planet, but the bottom side is slowly cooling down.

First off, love the software, very easy to monitor multiple ants, especially when they are on different pools and constantly switching.

Second, I am having some trouble changing pools on my ants.  I use westhash and want to set the password to something different, but when I type in what I want and click "change' nothing seems to happen and nothing changes in the S3.  Is there something else that needs to happen to let me change pool info?  I also tried just changing the username to see what would happen, but it didn't seem to update on the Ant.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, S3s default to having API update access blocked.  When I had S3s on hand, I tried numerous times, and asking in different places, how to enable API update access.  And I didn't get anywhere at all.  I still don't know how to do it, or if it's possible.  Plus, keep in mind the update (if it would work) is temporary only.  If you want a permanent update, I think there's another program out there that will do that (Spice's miner?)

If I had the time, I'd love to organize a hackathon.  Unfortunately, Bitcoin mining is a hobby and my own schedule prevents me from taking on a larger role.  I'm sure a lot of others of us here are in the same boat.  Oh well, when I win the Power Ball tomorrow, I'll have plenty of time on my hands Smiley

Same here.  And, honestly, if I had the time ... there are lots of things I'd be doing before rewriting p2pool.

M -

I am using v4.7.

I recently wanted to sort by "BestShare" but its not sorting properly....neither by ascending or descending.

Let me know if there is something I may be doing wrong, if you need a screen shot or if this is a known bug.

Thank you.

<robb>

That's sort of indirectly intentional.  To format it a nice readable format with commas, it has to be a text value.  Apparently the default sorting mechanism (not my code) can't sort text values properly either.  If you want it to be sortable, I have to make it numeric, which means not as easy to read.

Anyone else having issues with this software?  I do scans and I have over 30 ants, it says it found 12 but only 5 show up in the list and are actually monitored.  See screen below.

S3s with older firmware do not work.  Are they updated to the latest firmware?

If you add them manually do they work?

I must say, But I do love P2pool, but that is hoop proof.. NOT!!!!
You can see when users bail out and when there back in when there ready to block. I wish this was more hoop proof as they say. Im out.

You can't jump in and out of p2pool... There's no gain in it because you lose shares.  Also I'd like you to explain how anyone can predict when the pool is going to hit a block.  So much fail in your post...
It take 24 hours to loose shares. I already did a test. Try your self.  Also wile someone else is working his ass off for the pool, some other sucker gets paid. NO WAY, Im out.

You're misunderstanding how p2pool works.

I'm not sure what you're referring to?  Like every pool, p2pool is always "ready to block".  Any share care be a block.

Hopper safe means, yes, you can hop in and just happen to be there right before a block ... but you'll also get a smidgen of what you'd get if you were here all along.
