I was submitting this coin to cryptopia but they won't accept coins with significant premine

Does anyone know anything about mining magi on a mac?  I was just telling some new people about magi and realized that I didn't know if sweetspot miner worked on a mac.  Is there a different miner that works on macs?  We should probably work on making a guide for people that use apple.

Free VPN?  I just ended my free trial of amazon web services (AWS.amazon.com).  The only thing on it was cpuminer to mine magi.  I posted the instructions to compile for linux somewhere on this thread.  The free micro instance gets about 10 khash/sec.  It isn't really worth it because they have something called cpu credits so after you mine for a few hours and use up your free credits it restricts your cpu usage and the hash falls to 1khash/sec.

This miner looks really interesting ! I think I'll update my Spexx's miner that I have since March  Grin !
I've been using this miner for a while now - its really good. Be sure to experiment with number of threads or processes to find the best setup for your rig. For me, I found threads was better than processes and used double the threads to logical processing cores, but that could be due to my network latency.

I already love it ! But tell me, if I enter that I say that the XMG block reward is at least 10+ XMG, will it mine if the block reward is lower ?

I have my sweetspot miner set to block value target of 10 xmg with min cpu usage at 10% and max at 30%.  If the block reward is lower it still mines at 10%.  If the block reward is 10 or higher it uses 30%.  I think that there is some wiggle room here because it still uses 30% at 7 XMG reward but if it goes to 3 XMG reward like it is right now it only uses 10%.  I would use more than 30% when it is profitable but I would need to get a watercooler for my AMD FX-8350 8 core so that it doesn't overheat.  The aftermarket fan I currently have just isn't enough cooling.

If the reward goes too low for too long I just turn off the miner.  Someone just threw 40 MH/s at solo mining (I say that because the hash shows up on hash info but doesn't show on any pool on http://poolinfo.coinmagi.org/).  It is not profitable to buy electricity to make 40 MH/s, so that person likely either has free electricity or has some type of miner that is more energy efficient that they are keeping a secret.

I can't figure out how to set my MBL address on xpool.  I will try sending an email for help.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [HYP] HyperStake | High PoS | Secure | MultiSend | liteStake | Adv Coin Control on: October 10, 2015, 09:00:56 AM
HYP is still a great coin to stake!  I can't wait for a new wallet with better multisend features.  The problem with it right now is that when a block splits, multisend only takes the reward out of one of the two transactions.  When the coins are sent inside of the coinstake transaction, it should take them out evenly in the event of a split.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LiteDoge - such Community coin | no premine | very fast | much profit on: October 10, 2015, 08:56:10 AM
This coin is great as it is.  No changes are necessary.  A few months ago when it was being discussed to make changes to HYP, a wise man named Kushed said "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".  I think that applies equally well in this case.  The rewards are going to fall on their own as scheduled in 9200 more blocks.  Reducing the rewards through a hard fork will only benefit people who already have a lot of coins and not encourage new people to buy.  There has been talk of adding a feature of adding a feature of sending stake rewards to a different address like on other coins, and this feature will be less exiting if the stake reward being sent is only worth a few satoshis.

Right now with LDOGE as it currently is you can buy for 1 satoshi each if you set a buy order and wait.  You can then stake for a while and sell them back for 1 satoshi, with the rewards more than paying for the exchange fees.  How is this a bad thing?  If you don't like LDOGE as it is you should just sell all of your LDOGE for 1 satoshi, I will buy them.
108  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [ANN]Multi Faucet Free-crypto.com on: October 10, 2015, 03:40:28 AM
I like this faucet.  Always works for XMG which is one of my favorite coins.  Does the BTC faucet work?  I haven't received the payouts for it.  I saw on the other thread just that you were asking me to PM you info on LDOGE so I will try to get that to you today.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: MobileCash MBL on: October 10, 2015, 03:23:21 AM
I have found a few MBL blocks already mining on xpool.ca but have noticed no payouts for this coin.  xpool must be saving them up.  I really like the idea of an AUXPOW Lyra coin but I fear that the premine is killing any potential volume.  I was going to submit this coin for voting on another exchange but then I saw the size of the premine and realized that they wouldn't even approve it for voting.  Maybe you should remake the coin as an AUXPOW Lyra coin that is also PoS.  No premine...then there will be demand.

I didn't know that the person who started this thread already called him a sociopath...so i thought I would add compulsive liar.  Also he has an ugly girlfriend.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Latest iGotSpots scam: PrimeChain (PRIME) on: October 05, 2015, 11:44:07 PM
My friend lost btc and xmg at the gorilla.exchange when it closed and ran off with all the coins.  IGotSpots is definitely a scammer.  I would post negative ratings but because I am just a normal user and only post on this site a few times a month I can't.  I have seen enough scams and have been warned to not invest in any Igotspots coins by many people, none of them being on the list of people he claims are spreading lies about him.  Although he will probably claim that this is a clone account....it is not.  I have never invested in a single one of his coins, but I really don't like him.  He is a bully and a sociopath.  He should be banned from this forum because he makes locked threads which causes new people to be sucked into the scam because they don't realize how bad he really is.  Banning him would cause the next 1000 scam coins he releases to get less publicity.

Price goes up which makes the hashrate go up 100MH.  Staking is still the most energy efficient way of making more XMG.

Wow I have supposedly have enough coins for a mini miner but bittrex is removing the wallet.  I kind of thought this project was doomed to fail because it seemed like they only cared about the bigger units and not the smaller ones that people would actually buy.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LiteDoge - such Community coin | no premine | very fast | much profit on: October 02, 2015, 05:37:07 AM
It's doing just fine as it is.
Don't try to make it something it's not.
Great coin, very fast, tons of stakes, only 8hrs to get the ball rolling.
Cheap enough people can still get in with a few $.
Mostly, fun.
The rewards will eventually drop on the schedule.  It's already been dicked with once.  That's enough.

Wow such fun.  Such speed.  Much staking.

I don't think trying to fix what ain't broken is a good idea.  It just creates needless uncertainty because people won't know what to expect long term.  Difficulty is going up and rewards are going down every month so stakes are getting harder.  One year from now LDOGE will be stronger coin with a higher market cap if no changes are made.  There are still 11 times more DOGE coins than there are LDOGE coins, so LDOGE still has some work to do to catch up.

Hi. Great work with coin so far. I think i am loving it.

Question:

Can feature from PAYCON be implemented into Coin Magi - Multisend allows you to send up to 100% of your Stake to multiple addresses of your choosing.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=937480.0

Thanks.

This isn't a bad idea.  I really like how the Hyperstake wallet does this (actually HYP had it before CON).  The issues I think there would be integrating this wallet feature into magi would be the low stake rewards and the long time to maturity.  My last XMG stake rewards were 0.02355414, 0.02154784, 0.11277781, 0.11289097, and 0.07004424 XMG.  My concern is that this is too small an amount to make multisend worth it.  Also I am concerned because XMG has a 120 transaction maturity time which takes quite awhile.  Multisend would actually destroy quite a bit of weight to send such as small amount 121 confirmations after the PoS block is found.

Nice ill look at some time.

I was talking about the multisend wallet feature with someone else last night and it might actually be possible to have the stake rewards go to a different address without destroying the weight of the blocks.  The other thing that would be needed to make multisend work for magi would be setsplitthreshhold so that transactions aren't split into two smaller transactions when a PoS block is found.

Is there a XMG/magi mining calculator around? I just want to know how much XMG I could mine with an eight core CPU.  Roll Eyes
No Magi does not have mining calculator yet. Maybe you can test it with the eight core CPU and post results here.

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to build a custom rig with two 8 core CPUs to see how many XMG I would mine. I hope to earn some profits, otherwise I'll just do it for fun!  Grin

what cpus are going to mine in your machine?
with that you can estimate their hashrate and then look in pool stats for users with average hashrate.

I'm going to use 2 AMD FX Eight Core CPUs (one on each motherboard) to mine XMG. I'll try to mine with them as soon as I have time to build my rig. If everything goes well, I'll try invest in more CPUs to expand my hashrate.  Grin

I have that cpu and get a few xmg per day.  I keep my sweetspot set between 10% and 30% cpu usage at a 10 XMG block reward.  If I use more than that, my cpu overheats and my computer crashes.  I would like to know what cooling setup you use if you get it to work with 100% on all eight cores.  I think you would have to use a liquid cooled fan.

That's precisely what I'm going to do. Liquid cooling is better than traditional fans, so I'll be installing this on my custom rig for maximum cooling. I think that my going to place a small fan next to it for even better cooling. Thanks for sharing your experience mining with that CPU!  Wink

The 8 core AMD is a great processor but overheating is a problem.  I have an aftermarket fan on there now that works better than the stock fan that works with it, but I still have to limit cpu %.  I could try placing it better with more thermal paste, but I think your really do need liquid cooling with this chip to run it all the way.  Let me know if it works for you because I haven't really wanted to spend $50 on ANOTHER fan if I don't even know how well it will work.

need help for POS, my stake was 106 then dropped to 86, network weight was about the same 7**K, but expected time had risen, for that time I had incoming fund to this address, question is higher or lower stake is better and do I have to consolidate inputs to have a better chance with staking?

I try to keep my transaction sizes between 100-3000 XMG for best staking results.

There is no bug shown in Windows 2008 VPS, just stop the cpu limitation after some hours then the cpu limitation is not working after re-started again. Afterall, I'm not dare to try again because I might be kicked off if overloaded the cpu.

As I see the CPU usage in NeedIfFindIt's version is calculated based on block reward. I guess we might need to add maximum CPU limit (any situation).

True. In 0.96/0.97 if the hashrate/blockvalue is at the targeted 22MH/s/12XMG/Block it will run at 100%.
(and it happens pretty often in the morning EU time)

Today I got some time to finish the 0.98

Changelog:
Code:
- added ability to set your own target for Network hash rate.
- added ability to set your own target for Block Value.
- added ability to set Min & Max CPU usage.
- just 2 miners included (special thanks to Spexx & Wolf0).
- now it shows the % in reverse way (90% becomes 10% etc.).

P.M. Me if you get any issues  Wink

Still an awesome job NeedIfFindIt!

The sweetspot miner is the BEST.  I have an 8 core AMD and I keep my miner set on a block target of 10 XMG with a minimum cpu usage of 10% and a maximum of 30%.  It seems to make my cpu run more stable if I keep the settings low, but even on 30% I still have a higher hashrate than my old i5 processor.

What I think would be a really cool improvement to the sweetspot miner would be to make it work with the magi multipool https://multi.magipool.info/.  What it could do would be to switch to mining a different algorithm when the block reward falls, and make the miner more XMG then they could make continuing to mine with low block rewards.  I think this would be a very good thing for the small miner, and would also produce some buy support for XMG from mining other coins when they are more profitable.

The only that comes to my mind is to name the other miner something different than "minerd.exe". Start the other miner, make it "Low Priority" from the "Windows Task Manager". Make the magi "minerd.exe" "Below Normal" priority. That way when the magi miner needs more power it will push the other miner down. But this will work only when you want do dedicate 100% of the CPU to mining. To use less than 100% you will have to limit the number of threads.

You can check the "Set Affinity" option in "Prio" http://www.prnwatch.com/prio/ (free for non-commercial use) to lock the threads to the CPU cores.

If I add similar option to SweetSpot (if possible at all) it will become too sluggish.

It might be too hard to implement, but it was just an idea to make constant mining more profitable for the little guy.  My cpu always seems to overheat and crash if I dedicate any higher than 30% of cpu to mining.  I just think it would be really cool if sweetspot could automatically switch over some % cpu to a multialgo cpu miner that you could set up to mine whatever is more profitable than XMG when the XMG block reward falls to 1.
