Was going to say you could use Bitinstant but as fast as they are, they might still be slower than other methods, not to mention the fees.

wall street seems to manage it
That's the point. Hopefully they'll fix it soon enough.

Is it just how they write their database txes? Can you start a new db table against a master log say every 15 minutes so it's not writing to something the system can't handle?
This type of coding is far beyond me but you'd think a (relatively) modest market of BTC wouldn't pound an exchange so hard that it can't keep up. I know in other good threads it was explained that just faster HDDs or SSDs wouldn't solve the problem alone but if not that then what? Spread the load to more physical systems? I don't think you could simplify the necessary transaction data further.
It just seems so odd that in periods of insane activity that they crash. If they're in an office building I'd imagine their net in and out is fast enough to handle tons of small KB-sized chunks.
I'm all for someone having an exchange without lag, though I'm sure it's easier said than done.

Gox lag approaching 600 seconds. Record for them? Edit, don't worry. I've captured the ebb and flow of this correction in wonderful delicious market-adjustment photos. Coming soon once it's over.

Had a few nice 500 buy-ins. Cool.

I think Gox is out of hamsters at this point. Nem, was that 2,400 buy yours?
|
|
|
aaannnddd we crashed again.
Nem, I'll be watching for your order!

Wow someone just did a 2,500 coin buy. Was a split second too slow to screenshot it.

Time to reboot the server hamster.

I think Gox just crashed. Won't refresh for me anymore ;p

Man, seeing some 300-700 coin dumps. Crazy bears. Talk about cashing out. Oh well, someone'll buy 'em up.
|
|

Gox lag up to 400 seconds. I think their backup hamsters died as well.
Bring on the Bull-Hamsters!

Tremors started ended hopefully! Figure we'll be doing a few bounces this evening but yeah, let the bears sell to their hearts' content.

Well aside from the extended weekend, it seems that really, Good Friday nor even Easter are outright Federal (US) Holidays. While some (Christian) banks may be closed Friday, I think most are closed Monday and stock markets are closed. But then again Gox isn't really a "bank" and just because Wall St. is closed, it doesn't mean BTC stops moving. We'll probably have a hopefully calm weekend though since most people will be taking a break with families and stuff. But then again this is Bitcoin so WHO KNOWS?! Made me smile. Same

Wasn't that chat also about two months ago? It's so off the cuff I can't believe that it's legitly going to happen. Besides even if he did dump $1M on the market, by my fuzzy math, if we're at a cap of $1B a year, then that's $2.7M a day moving around or with potential. He'd probably spend enough to make a day or two of red candles at this point and we'd be back up.

Seems to work fine for me.

Come Josephine in my Bitcoin Machine... up it goes and up it goes. Something like that, right?

Yeah pretty much went to $91.56 $92.13 or so on Bitcoinity too.

Take Tear down that this wall!
Fixed. Ah, meant that. Thanks . That 43 buy became 200 and change once the full order was fulfilled. Up we go.
