Congratulations, Bitcoin! $50 is honestly, higher than I could've forseen this going to back when I got involved. But yeah, it's a milestone but... what's next?!
The $100 party is going to be sick.

Wow just saw a buy for 1,010 and change and another for something like 1,600 go through. That's crazy!
|
|
|
Did anyone else catch that "F*CK YEAH!" across bitcoinity?
Yes

|
|
Don't mind it. GPUs working in the meantime until ASICs get sorted out.

Agreed. Besides, Aljazeera is one of if not the most well-known Arabic / Middle East publication, isn't it? It's speaking about Bitcoin in a very good light for a portion of the world who may have not heard of it before.

Awesome! Good interview and explaination.

Thanks for the insight and taking care of things so swiftly.

Just synched my 0.7.0 client (to the latest block height) and there is no longer any DB error displayed. I again see a green bar, the blocks downloaded and the checkmark is good.
All appears to be in order.

Well aside from this being the largest forking I've ever been involved with during knowing about BTC, it hasn't stopped some weak hands from cashing out. Saw some HUGE sell orders go through but it appears the price has already recovered Edit. Obligatory wall pic as of now (1:04am EST)

Granted I'm mining, but just rolled back to 0.7.0 and can update to current block just fine. Seems to be no issue now hopefully.

I figure both clients would send the same information along about a transaction whether 0.7 or 0.8 so how could a fork be made in the first place?
Or is the program just "confused" about handling larger blocks and things are fine?
|
|
|
Just was updating to 0.8 and noticed this. Should we revert back to 0.7?

Beat me to it haha. Yay . Looking good.

Listened to it a day or so ago. Great interview and discussion. Thanks for linking and sharing. EV did a great job answering, as was said, from a very friendly and not-too-technical level.

It's still good to see progress though. Yeah if this batch is for whatever crazy reason, bad, I'm sure plenty will cancel their orders. But that precludes BFL still eventually being able to create and ship units, just far later than anyone ever thought if that were the case.
Safe travels Josh and good luck in final testing.

Agreed. I got in early. Not quite $1 early, but after the first rise and fall. Now granted, I figure I'm doing alright with mining but yeah, if I had the capital back then to buy up a bunch of coins at $2, or $5, etc., I'd be more than happy. But then again that's the risk we all take to an extent and I could imagine it being quite painful to have fully sold all coins at a (then) high price. But who's to say the same isn't true today? I'm happy the price is this high but if you're confident it's going to go far far above this, it's always time to buy.

Was watching Bitcoinity and caught a moderaly epic buy. It's not quite a wall pic but thought I'd share. Not sure how often these happen daily but just catching one was neat to calculate. That's a $17,000+ buy... wow.
