Responding to your PM. Smiley

Have you tried CGminer now that all the gpu cores are working?

What are your gpu clocks? I don't think you'll hit 667mhash/card at stock clocks. (But like I said, I don't have experience with the 5970's.)

Now, I don't have a whole lot of experience with 5970's (and when I said not a whole lot, I mean none), but I do have a few 5870's and they are basically the same thing.

So when you used the gpu, did all of the cores show up in the miner? When I say that, I mean were you able to mine successfully on all 6 cores once you used one of the graphics cards?
404  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 0.10BTC for help 5970's, ASUS Board, 12.6 Driver, SDK 2.7, GPU's disabled? on: August 02, 2012, 02:10:45 AM
You don't need to keep it that way, I just want to see if it's a driver issue (where neither the onboard nor the gpu work for mining) or a hardware setup issue where the onboard doesn't work, but a gpu does. It might still be a driver problem even if the gpu does work.

You mentioned the onboard video, it's AMD onboard, right? If it's intel or nvidia onboard video, then there may be a driver conflict.

Have you tried just using one of the 5970's for video just to see if that works?

I would try -w 64, -w 128 and -w 256 and see which responds the best and gives you the best hashing power.

Also, add -v without a value.
407  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Does anyone buy 5770's, 58xx's or Silver PSU's anymore? on: August 02, 2012, 01:25:38 AM
Plenty of people still buy these as long as the prices are competitive. Check the Computer Hardware sale section.

Hey, I'm interested in purchasing this: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/4638/

I'm willing to trade every trade-able item in my inventory as part of a trade along with the BTC I might owe on top of that. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197972334373/inventory/

What would be the price for that game bundle after you take my TF2 items into consideration?

PS. I will respond faster to a PM.

well it does say it in the title.....

Are you running this card at stock settings? (have you tried hitting it with a hammer?) J/K

^^ is giving us pot smokers a bad name Tongue

3 tiers could be On-Peak, Mid-Peak, Off-Peak....

3 different amounts per tier.... eg .10, .07, .05

That's my guess.... I don't pay for power on my mining rigs...

That makes more sense. I thought he was just playing dumb...

Looks like you had previously been running 2.6 and didn't fully clean that installation before you installed 2.1. The computer will run the newest installed software.

On top of that, you didn't correctly input the pool information...

cgminer runs, but only runs 1 card, the other is SICK...this is just what comes up right away.

It helps if you mention all of that in the OP.  Roll Eyes

north california

three tiers i dont understand

average baout $0.10/kWh

The three you didn't "understand" were provider, which means you have no idea who you pay for your electricity; country, which means you don't know which country California is located in; and current as @, which means you don't know the last time you looked at your bill... I don't get it.  Roll Eyes
413  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: August 01, 2012, 10:32:42 PM
Hi, been on p2pool for a week now, 24/7. Just heard of some kind of lottery, can someone explain this to me as i was 4???

I've seen my address with a number in front of it, 16.whatever, on a sendmany patron whatever url... what is that? Is there some extra earning on p2pool that i'm not receiving? i only get what i mine, the shares i submit, not a cent more... i like p2pool even though i might be getting more on other pools. i have 450Mh/s, sometimes on p2pool window i get as low as 200, others i get 500.

Just interested in knowing if there's some more to gain on this pool, and what am i doing wrong if i'm not getting any...

Thank you.

With only 450mhash, more than likely you're just seeing share balance. If you've even mined with a pool that offers proportional mining, then you'll know that there is not just the variance of finding blocks for a pool, but also the variance of getting shares for your miners. It just happens that at that particular time during the round, your miner hadn't found its share of shares, so to speak. Over time, it all balances out just like block finding.

Came back to p2pool today after a while of being gone. Added 1.9ghash to the pool. Smiley I just want to confirm that the binaries in the first post are up to date. I'm running p2pool ver 3.1, and want to make sure I'm on the right version.

Also, what was the edit to change the frequency that p2pool displays information. Every 3 seconds is just too freakin' often.
416  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: help with big bang marshal minning rigs on: August 01, 2012, 04:57:56 PM
I've never believed in the extenders with the molex power connectors. I run 5 cards in my rig with a 1000watt gold unit on the motherboard and the first three cards, and then a 750 watt bronze on the last two cards. Never had an issue with the rig.

Got a new PSU the other day. Now the rig runs on just two power supplies (yeah, it was three before). :/

It's just that in our current situation (as miners), ASIC and the block reward halving leave the future very cloudy in terms of profitability. We simply can't go spending more money than we will make before it's no longer profitable.
