6001  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Man Uses Bitcoin to Buy a Piece of Paradise in Nicaragua on: January 02, 2014, 08:16:36 PM
The uses of Bitcoin continues to grow.

“By using BTC we were able to complete the transaction quickly with no need to involve banks or other third party intermediaries. I don’t know yet what the house design will be, my girlfriend and I will be designing it together in the coming months,” he told CoinDesk.

The article on CoinDesk http://www.coindesk.com/man-bitcoin-buy-paradise-nicaragua/.
How much did he pay? I'd like to buy some land with Bitcoin in the future.
I wouldn't, not at the current price flunctuations. I'd facepalm till my face became flat if I bought land with BTC that are after a few months worth over 2 times more.

IT could become worth two times less as well. It'll steady off in the future.
Well, it's a chance I wouldn't like to take. It's pretty much as trading huge amounts of BTC.
6002  Other / Off-topic / Re: Joking... on: January 02, 2014, 08:10:17 PM
It's not called buying if it's free.   Roll Eyes
Well, you are buying stuff for $0.00. Sometimes people do sell items for that price. You do, however, have to pay the service fees .
6003  Other / Off-topic / Re: The totally epic "I need to take a shit!" thread. on: January 02, 2014, 08:07:48 PM
Seems like many people try similiar things in prison, just they're of different gender and don't need a strap-on. Cheesy
6004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Ripple? on: January 02, 2014, 08:05:36 PM
Ripple is not even a cryptocurrency, because if you store it on your harddrive they still can devalue your coins because of their build in system.
Uhm what?

The value of XRP is derived on the open market, just like BTC (who also change in value even if you don't move them).

Somehow the signal/noise ratio is quite bad in this kind of threads...
I think he meant that ripples can be taken away from you by the owners of Ripple, while bitcoins can be taken away if they get the private key. He was kind of pointing out the flaws of centralization.

Wait. The only thing you can do. Well, if you need the money now then withdraw using BTC.
6008  Other / Meta / Re: prime dice spam bots on: December 31, 2013, 11:54:32 AM
I'll look into offering a fixed amount perhaps going off activity for next term. Until then, if anyone is blatantly spamming with a PD signature send me a PM and I'll make sure to message them and revoke their payment.

The reason I liked the current system was because it gave newer users a chance to get some starting bitcoins, but clearly it is being abused and shouldn't remain. Please accept my apologies for your negative experience as a result of this.

Noted this on my thread here.
Sounds like a great idea. I've been looking high and low for systems paying for the posts (or activity) accumulated in total. You should set a minimum activity limit as well to combat alts signing up.

Not quite it just promotes the bitcointalk accounts for sale issue and have a bunch of stalking accounts that in theory grow slowly to pass these limits over time, but it does help reduce alts being used as any accounts found using them can be banned from using the program and reduces the spam.
So works for different reasons Smiley
Well, usually the price surpasses the amount to be made so it might not be very profitable.
6009  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 0.4BTC/month just by posting! - Advertise for PrimeDice.com! *Updated on: December 31, 2013, 10:59:29 AM
I think it would be greater if Stunna will choose xx(x?) people to write and give them a little bit better payment that it was before.

Why would he do that?

Maybe, to stop spammers from abusing his service? I like this idea too, since it would give prevalence to quality before quantity...

Isn't it pretty easy catch spammers already?

Depends how Stunna checks the content of your posts.

And from an advertising point of view, quality of posts is irrelevant really, as it's more about quantity if you think about it. The advertising is effective at getting PrimeDice's name out there as pretty much every thread will have several PD sigs, so it's more effective for Stunna to have as many people as possible posting as opposed to a handful of "quality" posters.

Stunna, drop bounty to 0.0001 per post and allow spam Cheesy

He can allow whatever he wants, we'll still ban you for it.

heh, What are you doing, showing off your power?.. pshh... he was clearly joking. xD
Where money's on the line, jokes fall flat. It's best to use this thread for serious matters and leave the jokes aside for Off-topic or some other non business related subforums.
6010  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will it ever go back up to $1200? on: December 31, 2013, 10:56:14 AM
economist say - target BTC is 10k $
I'd say it's possible we reach that mark somewhere in late 2015. At least that's what I heard from various speculators around the forums.

How much would I get if I advertise this in another forum?  Grin
None. He doesn't need advertisements on other forums since this one is the most popular one amongst bitcoiners. Besides, I think somebody already asked that question.

How did a joke thread turn into this?

Anyways, here's what Google spewed out for me:

Q: How do you know when it's going to be a good day at work?
A: When you see your boss' picture on the side of the milk carton.

Don't think this list is a good idea but I guess I'll pitch in with an additional note. I'll just contact him once and if he starts paying.

6019  Other / Off-topic / Re: Android security on: December 27, 2013, 10:47:11 AM
Okay, bottomline, is it okay/better to have more than 1 antivirus / anti malware?  Or 1 antivirus + 1 anti malware, or just 1 comprehensive antivirus is enough?
Multiple antiviruses might lag your device and prevent usage of many apps, especially the resource intensive ones.

Dogewallet is currently in the middle of refunding users, and several million Dogecoins have already been refunded today. Refunding users is our priority because we too want to see Dogecoin grow, not only because it’s backed by the best community of any digital currency, but because it also has the greatest potential to completely overtake and topple Bitcoin. This is exemplified by the community reaching out to help create a system for refunding affected users of Dogewallet just moments after the incident.
