i don't get it how people voluntarily share their personal info/habits with a private company solely concentrated on profit maximization while ranting on observation policies by authorities.

Doubt that actually helps. If you wanna have sex, go to those adult online dating websites who, actually, collect even more private data.   Cheesy
6402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin router on: November 09, 2013, 05:22:31 PM
The idea is interesting but not really practical. You'd still be using more power than running a router without it. Also, low power ASICs are no longer profitable. Making a router with the ability to connect an ASIC miner - that would be useful. It would replace running a desktop computer or other similar device such as Raspberry PI.

This already exists in essence.

You can plug an Avalon directly into your router and mine though it has an internal router that acts like a controller.

Also, psheppard  made an implementation of cgminer that installed directly onto a router that allowed direct gpu mining. I don't know whether he's made an asic implementation of that.
It would be better that the complete package: the hardware, the software and the configuration, would be set up in a partially consumer friendly way, instead of googling absolutely everything and still understanding nothing.
6403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do pools make Bitcoin insecure? on: November 09, 2013, 04:33:34 PM
The pools only want their fees, no body cares about 51% attack..
Yeah. Crashing the coin they're sitting on, profiting on and sometimes even living on would be pretty stupid. They get more from mining rather than cracking down the system. If they did, people would just go to another pool or even better - the before mentioned p2pool.

Facebook? Why not Myspace? :-)
That's why:

mtgox in 5 years time right there
Might be if the withdrawal and other overall issues will still be there.
6406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin entering the mainstream FINALLY? on: November 09, 2013, 03:58:10 PM
I don't really think Bitcoin will enter mainstream any time soon. People are usually afraid of unknown things, especially the ones that are hard to understand. Bitcoin is based on cryptography, which isn't something you can easily explain to your grandma. Computer science is still a mystery to many people and most of us, who are in Bitcoin, are the ones who actually understand at least the core principles of crypto-currency.

The anonymity might scare some people away as well: they might think it's shady or illegal. And let's not forget the current events: constant hacking, stealing of BTC, scams all around and NSA trying to pull Bitcoin into a controllable space. After all that, some people will just decide not to bother and stick to banks and cash.

I'll celebrate when BTC hits 50000 USD.   Cool

Dream big guys!  Cheesy
Yeah, just not all dreams come true however.
Or do they?
No, they don't. If they did, I would be swimming in money in one of my 1000 villas around the world Tongue.
6409  Other / Off-topic / Re: What video games do you play? on: November 09, 2013, 03:43:35 PM
No More Room in Hell is awesome!

Played it during the Beta(before it reached on Steam, but was already Greenlit) and yes, pretty nice game.
Now the devs should focus for now only on adding content, most part of the game is already pretty concrete and non-buggy.
I too played. Some time before release on Steam. The first few months the game was buzzing with players. After I stopped playing and decided to come back, I found only a few servers and every of them were empty. Still, a fun game, with realistic amounts of ammo and old school slow zombies.

Hopefully it will hit 420, and at the same time Litecoin will hit 42.0 and at the same time Peercoin will hit 4.20 and I will blaze higher than moonguy could ever jump.

 Grin

Only $42 away from from $420 now, it is getting very close. I hope you have prepared well for the celebration!
Don't look at Mt. Gox. They have a higher price due to withdrawal issues. Bitstamp is a more trustworthy source.
6411  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unconfirmed transaction - losing a lot of money because of 0,1 BTC on: November 08, 2013, 07:00:25 PM
Yesterday I sent 0,1 to Satoshi Dice but it was set to no-fee on blockchain.info (I'm new, had no idea it would be THIS BAD).

I played on Satoshi Dice with it for a bit and made 1BTC from it. I got really excited, wanted to withdraw and saw the initial 0,1 is still unconfirmed. It's been 24 hours.

I don't really understand that, does Satoshi dice allow playing&withdrawing with unconfirmed Bitcoins? That would be so easy to abuse.

Allows playing, doesn't allow withdrawing.
But if you lose, you just double spend your transaction before it's confirmed. That can be worrying as it might break the whole balance of casino.

Just wait, there is still hope.

Here is your current estimated confirmation time    13 hours.

I had a transaction yesterday which was sent without a fee, and it had an estimated time of 28 hours. I checked it today and it was confirmed Smiley

It's been 24 hours and that estimated time keeps changing. It's now up to 15h.
It really depends on whether a generous miner will decide to include your transaction in a block. So the estimated time is really, REALLY estimate.
How could I do such if I wanted to?
Well, mine and generate a block including all transactions. Solo, I mean.
6415  Other / Off-topic / Re: 3 days on: November 08, 2013, 03:15:04 PM
Total time logged in: 44 days, 10 hours and 51 minutes.
Aaaand my winning position is gone... obliterated, annihilated and destroyed in every way possible. Smiley
6416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not enough profits with 25 BTC reward to include more tx's? on: November 08, 2013, 03:13:37 PM
an easier method for less advanced users would be to simply let the original 'free' transaction go through, but for a seperate payment to the pool.

(i.e. you pay the pool 0.001 btc and tell them which free tx you want them to include in their next block)

that way novices don't have to figure out how to resend a transaction (which as far as I know, bitcoin-qt won't allow)

That sounds like a great idea. I read many threads complaining about non confirmed transactions for weeks and this would solve all of them as well as bring a bit of profit to the pools. Come one, pool operators - golden idea right here. Grin
6417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay again talking about Bitcoin on: November 08, 2013, 03:09:23 PM
Ebay will never implement bitcoin and its simple why!!!
Well, they might. If Bitcoin goes mainstream, they simply won't stand losing money for ignoring Bitcoin. But there's a long, long way to go until we reach that level.
6418  Other / Meta / Re: theymos please fix the avatars! on: November 08, 2013, 03:01:43 PM
Would like to change mine now, I've never gone this long without an avatar change Shocked

No, you will just have to wait some time. Have some patience, it'll take a while. Roll Eyes
6419  Other / Meta / Re: Is forum user "Satoshi".... Mr. Nakamoto himself? on: November 08, 2013, 03:00:22 PM
Crazy!

He evaporated into thin air Sad

If you guys know him, tell him thank you.

I'd bet my bottom satoshi that he's active here but under a different SN. Look for users registered on that date he stopped posting.  Someone who just creates hugely disruptive technology doesn't just "forget about it"  cause you know...this is his baby.  I'll also venture that no one really cares - If they did, there would be a bounty to reveal him by now.
You really struck good points. I wonder who might Satoshi be posing as now. A businessman? A regular member? Man, the curiosity is killing me Tongue. But still, there are many people trying to find his identity.
6420  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Have 0.10 BTC, want $45 PayPal USD | Trading reputation required on: November 08, 2013, 02:49:17 PM
I have 0.10 BTC.
I want $45 PayPal USD.

If you have no trading reputation, do not contact me.
If you have trading reputation, and you want to do this trade, send me a private message.

You might have to wait a couple of days to get that rate Tongue
He's taking a higher rate due to the risk of exchanging BTC/PP.

lol. And all I'm saying is in the morning, the rate may be too cheap Cheesy
That was the reason for my post: to explain, to clarify why.
