I want to buy a decent # of bitcoins (~5000).
I've been trying to jump through the various hoops to buy some bitcoins for about a week without much success. I opened a Dwolla account, but they restrict transfers from the bank to $5000. It took 48 hours just to verify my bank account with them. So I requested a transfer of $5000. Only after 24 hours did they say that I'm not really verified, and that they can't do it unless I upload a photo id. Not sure I want to jump through these hoops if there are going to be another ten steps which take me a month to take.
In order of priority, I want a way to buy that's
1) fast 2) private 3) low commission
What's the best way to do this?
Drive to McKinney, TX with a suitcase full of cash!

This means I have set up the service so lenders are not at risk. I will make 3% interest payments for as long as possible. If for some reason I see in the future that I can not take any additional deposits because of risk then I will not, meaning I will not take what I can not handle. I have shared with PatrickHarnett (for Credit Rating) my BTC Reserve and BTC Monthly Income to back the deposit system.
I'm not sure this claim is valid unless you match your deposits in an escrow. You can't guarantee yourself against your own default unless you have an escrow.

What is the single most important factor when you invest your BTC? Dividends? Thanks for your feedback... trust and profit.

What happened to "innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt"? The funds are most likely not stolen, so why refuse them?
innocent until proven - that's how the mafia operates. if you doubt the legitimate source of your business you should by moral standards put it on hold until the legitimacy is ensured. bitcoin is bitcoin is bitcoin. #fungibility /OT!!! this is an auction thread.

At $0.02 per tx and VISA sized network we are talking about $2.5B in revenue for miners. More than enough to support the costs of the network.
Any idea what is the current revenue for miners?

Somebody steals from me, I'm recruiting all the help I can get. I pay my taxes after all!
Disclosure: 1: I'm not an anarchist. 2: I use bitcoins. 3: I completely understand what a cryptocurrency is, thanks. 4: (nothing has been stolen from me anyway)

What you might notice, is that some people run a diversified portfolio of investments, and maintain returns such as myself. You should also notice, people do their research before shouting from the roof tops that everything is evil. I feel like you are some sort of christian missionary trying to save the natives.
if you are exposing your portfolio to BS&T or one of the unfortunately many pass-throughs, then you are supporting the largest ponzi scheme. You are comparing apples and weedeaters. Patrick separates his 1% deposits from his pass-through, and he is very transparent with how he makes money. Either way, Ponzi schemes can be very profitable. I don't think there is anything unethical about gambling with a Ponzi scheme. Not that Patrick needs me to defend him. But "for real, yo."

Why should I trust you? -While starting up I have set the minimum deposit at only 1 BTC. -All depositor's coins are 100% guaranteed and will not lose any funds due to any defaults. -As users receive weekly interest payments I ask of them to please confirm here on the forum as feedback.
What are coins used for? -Short Term Investments -Market Arbitrage -Bitcoin Projects -Private Loans
Rusty, can you elaborate on this bit?

Here it is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=750.0There are several other old threads discussing distributed/decentralized escrow. Great reads, some of them. Edit: I believe the upcoming multi-sig features could be used in a very similar fashion.

Satoshi himself talked about implementing a very primitive escrow in the protocol, I thought it was a great idea... better than nothing at least. I'll look for the thread.

I want to be a Ponzi too! Make me a Ponzi!

Having just seen Danks' latest post, I'm also compelled to state that Micon is driving me to the point of defending Dank.
(Hey Dank, I read your posts every day because they are entertaining, as are some of the replies. Doesn't mean I'd lend to you (it's a risk thing), but I haven't seen evidence of a ponzi from you over the past year.)

Dwolla is now irrelevent.
This. But when CampBX stops accepting it, I'm going to be in a tough spot. Dwolla is so easy.

We all realize that Ponzi scams do exist on these forums... That's not news to anyone. They're not all Ponzis though, look into the threads.

just a hunch: If the price goes to 31 any time in the next two years, it will be thanks to those trying to get rich quick.

I was thinking that as well. Do people actually go for that? Seems like a relatively new user to be handing real money to. He's been taking out loans here for a long time. His first post was over a year ago.

For those interested in getting spam like this out of your "new unread posts" list, given these kinds of threads make up the majority of "Alternate cryptocurrencies"... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;sa=ignoreBoards -> scroll down to "Other" tab (second dark section) -> tick "Alternate cryptocurrencies," -> click "Change Profile" at bottom of page Cheers! Thanks! (to the one poster here I haven't already ignored)

I sold him $60 dollars worth of bitcoins without problem, using Dwolla.
Great transaction and welcome to the forums.

I do not want GOXUSD, or anything else. Only Dwolla. I plan to update this thread regularly, and will lock it when I'm finished.
I am currently selling at a 1.5% discount from the Gox ask price (equalling 8.78 at the time of posting).
Edit: Only 35 BTC left to sell for now.
