Ha, I used to play all the time. My little brother plays nearly everyday. I too throw my better distance shots forehand, but I try to throw backhand now because of a shoulder injury. Favorite disc is a Wraith, by far. I have a bagful of discs but that's pretty much all I throw.

LoupGaroux, you said, quote, "We have serious issues in our little funhouse, and serious bad people stealing serious amounts of money. Pirate, the intersango gango, Zhou Tong, Notorious Relic Dealer Chen, bitscalper and the like should be strung up by their thumbs and ritually abused by angry koalas until they repay the good people they have fleeced."
THEN you said, "Matt just pointed out how stupid we all look chasing after these phantoms"
So, which is it? Should we keep pursuing people like "Pirate, the intersango gango, Zhou Tong, Notorious Relic Dealer Chen, bitscalper and the like," and string them up by their thumbs, or at leask kick them out of the forums and maybe the Bitcoin community? Or should we, as the intent of Matt's bet stated, shut up, stop screaming Ponzi whenever such obvious scams come up, and stop "chasing after these phantoms?"
He just spends most of his time here doing a poor job of trying to be a general asshole; he doesn't worry about making sense. He does like absurd metaphors, though.

I was successfully scammed once as a newbie here.
You can always PM other members (I'm available) for advice if a transaction makes you uncomfortable. If you start feeling uncomfortable with a transaction, odds are it's a dud. Scammers are on this forum literally 24/7, and their main target is the newbie board.
USE ESCROW. Can't stress this enough. If someone refuses, then stay away.

fail forum moderation is fail
Go start your own draconian forum; meanwhile this one is free to use. Fail due diligence is fail. Scammer tags don't prevent scams. Scammer tags exist to give us a semblence of justice after-the-fact.

I notice that people are calling for Matthew to be banned so I'll add
5. Should we ban people to whom the scammer tag has been applied?
If they are also relentless trolls, then yes. Otherwise, no IMO.

[quote pyramid removed] Did you make a bet with matthew? Did you give him credibility at that time of that bet. If so that I would have to question your judgement. If not why are you defending those who did.
I made a bet with matthew. I gave him credibility because: - He was a staff member
- He was well-known and a long-standing member of the community
- He was editor in-chief of Bitcoin Magazine
- He had not yet passed his 10K goal when I made the bet
He lost credibility (for me) when: - He continued accepting bets beyond the 10K goal
- He continued accepting bets when it was clear pirate was running
- He continued accepting bets outside of the original thread
Question away. Same. I thought the chances of him paying out were very slim after the 10k, but still better than zero. I incresed my original bet at the last minute, why not? I've seen his stupid pictures here and read his stupid posts, but that fact that he's socially inept doesn't mean he's automatically a scoundrel. I wouldn't dare watch his youtube videos.

Matthew, At least this prank did not hurt anyone, but it made them look foolish.
Assuming "them" refers to the bettors, I disagree. How are they/we made to look foolish?

I'm not in charge of scammer tags, I'm just saying making up hypothetical situations and expecting a serious answer is kinda dumb.
I'm simply asking for bitcointalk.org's definition of a scammer. It's a legitimate question. If that doesn't exist that's fine. Maybe we should wait for Theymos to weight in, if he chooses to do so. Thx. Matthew didn't take any money, but I believe others have received scammer tags preemptively. so SCAMMER sometimes means ALMOST SCAMMER. One problem with the bet scenario is that nobody would have really known what to do were Matthew to win the bet. Matthew wouldn't have gotten the scammer tag, but he would have been just as guilty.

The only lesson you taught the community was that you are not a reliable business partner.
No, I'm pretty sure if anyone is learning a lesson right now, it's the loud mouths who were attacking Pirate investors for being "ignorant". I guess they too are getting a dose of their own medicine! You're the only one learning a lesson here.
