1201  Economy / Marketplace / Re: THE Place to Shop w/ Bitcoin: BitCoinWorldMarket.com on: July 12, 2011, 05:01:57 PM
This is a great site, I don't care if there is a small markup. The mere action of adding 10.000+ products to the bitcoin economy is a huge boost and I hope that you guys make a ton of money with your shop.

Hopefully your success will breed competition and we'll have 4 or 5 big bitcoin retailers in six months.
1202  Economy / Marketplace / Re: THE Place to Shop w/ Bitcoin: BitCoinWorldMarket.com on: July 11, 2011, 07:37:11 PM
This looks great.
Has anyone actually used it?

I'll give it a try, but it'd be nice to have feedback from actual buyers.

No point is saving them all. Spend a few, save a few. The only way to make sure that they are worth something in term of real goods is to spend some. Itīs also they only way for the bitcoin economy to grow.

Both Bitcoin and Gold are up a lot today.

I have just completed my second gg <-> BTC transaction with cvicisso successfully. Everything went smoothly, I heartily recommend this user as honest and prompt.  Smiley

I won't be broadcasting any future deals, I'll stick to PMs.

If anyone is interested, the rate was   1 gg = 3.5 BTC

Peter Schiff on previous attempts at competing with the US dollar:

Liberty dollar, e-gold, etc... interesting recap. Good reminder that most of these were taken down by USG.

It looks like they take a storage fee every month from you as well as the fee for buying and selling.

Actually there is no sell fee.
And storage fees are pretty low... considering the premium that you normally pay for a coin, it would pay for a few years of GoldMoney storage.  http://www.goldmoney.com/precious-metals-prices.html

I found another article. I agree that they complement each other pretty well. Bitcoin is great for transactions and GoldMoney for storage of value.

My thoughts exactly! No matter how much I believe in Bitcoin, I'm not going to save in a currency that has only been around for a couple of years. So I figure: BTC = wallet  / GM = piggybank.

A couple of interesting articles comparing BTC and GoldMoney and pointing out their relative flaws/strengths:

My conclusion is that they could work very well in combination, they complement each other pretty well considering how different they are...

I would like to start small, especially since there's probably no escrow service we can use. Also check the seller's reputation any way possible.

I would buy 100$ first, could work my way up to 1000$ after trust is established.

Regarding exchangers... what about http://bitcoin-otc.com/ ?  I hear good things.
1216  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying All Bitcoins! | Trusted | PayPal, AlertPay, Liberty Reserve, Wire, WU! on: June 30, 2011, 03:00:31 PM
I don't get it.. why don't you use an escrow service so that nobody "goes first"?
1217  Economy / Currency exchange / Bitcoin <--> GoldMoney on: June 30, 2011, 02:43:54 PM
Anybody has a GoldMoney Full Holding http://www.goldmoney.com/online-payments.html and wants to sell me some BTC for Gold?

I would also be very interested in an automated BTC/GM exchange, since both systems are non-reversible, final, international, online and non-dollar based. Do any exist?
