En mi experiencia cualquiera que haya probado a hacer una transacción con Bitcoin queda totalmente convencido al ver que en hacer una transferencia, por ejemplo de móvil a móvil (usando un monedero como blockchain), se tarda 20 segundos y es gratis.

Lo importante es eso, no debemos dejar que nuestro entusiasmo(que en eso si muchos somos multimilionarios! jejejeje) transforme nuestro discurso en favor al Bitcoin en algo mas bien perjudicial que benefico.
Estoy de acuerdo, no hay que ser pesado ni insistir mucho ya que eso causa rechazo. Pero el mayor problema no es la gente que ha oído hablar mal de Bitcoin, sino que el 99% de la gente ni siquiera ha oído hablar de Bitcoin ni tiene la más mínima idea de lo que es. La otra alternativa es hacer marketing de guerrilla con operaciones que llamen mucho la atención y sean vistas por mucha gente... al estilo de otros grupos de activismo... pero eso puede atraer la atención de gente indeseable antes de tiempo.

La mayor fortaleza de Bitcoin es también un gran obstáculo para su difusión. Las grandes ventajas de Bitcoin: descentralizada, anónima, sin comisiones, sin bancos, internacional, inflación controlada... hacen que sea una moneda buena para todos los usuarios. Sin embargo no hay un "gran beneficiado" con un interés directo en promocionarla. Todos los usuarios tienen un incentivo para hacer crecer la red (puesto que sus bitcoins serán más útiles y además subirán de valor) pero no hay un emisor dispuesto a hacer una campaña publicitaria, pagar una red de ventas y hacer una inversión y un esfuerzo profesional de comunicación.
Esto no tiene por que ser un problema. Sencillamente hay que enfocar la campaña de forma descentralizada. El boca a boca, gracias a las redes sociales, puede llegar a millones de personas muy rápido. Si cada usuario de Bitcoin le habla de esta moneda a otros 10....

...Bueno, ya sabéis como funcionan estas cadenas. Aunque conseguir una que no se rompa es difícil... pero sinceramente, con llegar a 10.000 personas en un país concreto me daría por satisfecho, para empezar...
Creo que con Bitcoin sería especialmente fácil hacer una campaña así, ya que probarlo es gratis (y no hay que dar datos), las ventajas son tremendas y sencillamente no hay nada igual, con el potencial de cambiar el comercio en Internet.
Eso sí, hay que pensar muy bien como hacerlo, puesto que algo que parezca spam inmediatamente hace que la gente desconecte y rompa la cadena. Es mejor contarle la idea a 10 personas en persona que enviar 100 e-mails. Es aún mejor conseguir que 10 personas tengan 0.1 BTC cada una en su móvil y vean lo fácil que es de utilizar.
Por lo tanto propongo lo siguiente:
Hacemos una competición en este foro para ver quien es el primero en conseguir que 10 amigos se instalen un monedero de Bitcoin. Acabada la competición todos contamos nuestra experiencia y así aprendemos lo que funciona y lo que no. Con estos conocimientos diseñamos una campaña de marketing social y la lanzamos de forma coordinada.

Como bien dice LuisCar la mayoría de la gente allí presente no tenía ni idea de lo que era Bitcoin... pero hicimos los posible por que por lo menos lo oyesen. Pero queda claro que hay que hacer mucho más ruido y conseguir más visibilidad. Para empezar hablamos con los organizadores del IJM para intentar que nos dejen hacer una charla sobre Bitcoin en unos meses. (Las charlas allí se graban y se emiten por streaming, además de colgarse en YT). Otro sitio donde deberíamos promocionar Bitcoin en Madrid es http://madrid.the-hub.net/Fácilmente podría organizarse una charla allí, pero claro, sólo si vamos a ser más de 3 o 4. |

All any site needs to do is add the following: http://translate.google.com/manager/website/?hl=enThis will make all the site's pages available in 60+ languages. All the user has to do is select their language from a drop down box. The only drawbacks I see are that I don't know about the quality of all translations, and users have to know to use the drop box. Google translate still leaves a lot to be desired, it screws up grammar in Spanish, German and French all the time, you should probably only use it to translate from other languages to english... I can only imagine the mess it might make from English to Chinese. Still... it's better than nothing. |

I have written this website a couple of weeks ago and it features a simple yet full guide with everything that's needed to start using Bitcoin and written in such a way that non-techies can understand it as well. Definitely hook noobs via the path of least resistance. If they are only going to have < 1 BTC to play around with they don't need to know too much. Coinbase, blockchain... hell even https://bitcoin-app.com/ can be good sandbox for them to learn! Once they see the benefits and ease of use there's plenty of time to teach them more advanced stuff. Telling them to install the client and wait to download all the blocks is a huge turn-off for many... |

Search around the internet for some kids in Africa with a blog site on Wordpress. Convince them to accept donations in bitcoins, a handful of us chip in, and with like 3 BTC they can upgrade and improve their blog.

This is very exciting news. i was in the middle of a 7 hour drive when the announcement broke, so I'm catching up on all of the news now. It looks like the press is picking up the story so I would expect much more coverage on Friday.
