Economy / Collectibles / [PENDING] Pair of metal bitbills and 2 metal bitbill prototypes.
|
on: November 18, 2018, 02:03:20 AM
|
Hello, today I'm selling the unique bitbill metal bank card prototypes, along with a pair of bitbill metal bank cards that have an error. Firstly, let me introduce myself. I'm noitev, and back in mid 2011, I contacted llama about his physical bitcoins he was making called bitbills. I thought they were such a cool idea and I bought a stack of them. I then asked llama (the creator) if we could meet and talk bitcoin and afterwards, I started making bitbills for him. With my bitcoin earnings I bought an engraver to make durable metal bitcoin wallets and llama was open to the idea. I probably made under 20 of them gave them all to llama to sell. Not many sold if I recall and bitbills was no more by the end of 2011. I still meet up with him every so often and after a suggestion, I asked if he had an metal bitbills left. After getting coffee with him, he returned what he found to me, which, as I recognize them are. - A pair of metal bitbills with an error (the payee card is missing an x) - The original prototype with 2 qr codes on the front and poorly engraved words - A second prototype with outlined letters and an engraved qr code (as opposed to the final design where the engraving was inverted for the QR codes.) I'm starting this auction at 1 Bitcoin for the entire set of 4 Increments may be done by the cent (e.g. 1.01, 1.32, etc.) A pair originally sold for 3 Bitcoins (https://web.archive.org/web/20111107010054/http://bitbills.com:80/order-form) This auction shall end 7 days after this post and will will continue past that by 2 hours from the last bid if necessary (no sniping!)
After several offers, I'll simply list it for 5 bitcoins, but feel free to offer whatever you'd like. Feel free to message me with any questions. Thanks! P.S. I sold all my original bitbills a long time ago, so I can't sell them to you. Sorry!

Economy / Services / How do I find a programmer or group to make a crypto
|
on: May 08, 2018, 11:00:09 AM
|
I have a crypto concept I'd like to commission a programmer or team to create. After establishing some trust, I'd give them the concept and they'd give me the quote or estimate. Obviously I'd pay in USD or bitcoin, with some small amount of the coin on top of that. I'm just struggling to know where to find someone trustworthy and competent, and also what a good price to pay for it would be. I'd say the coin is somewhat similar to NXT for it's concept.
If you live near NYC I'd be happy to meet up and discuss as well. thanks.

I got this interesting response...
Fees are actually not able to be predicted accurately. You can look at data from the past and make a guess, but you have no way to know what the supply/demand of block space will be after you've broadcast your transaction. There is no actual mechanism within Bitcoin to ascertain what the fee guaranteed to be mined will be. We can use data such as provided in that link to dynamically set fees - but we will always come up short because as demand changes the fee will never be perfect, and we will receive complaints (as we did in the past before changing the fee level) that our fee was too low. We can't win with this because Bitcoin was not designed to accommodate variable fees.
Bitcoin was not designed to have fees escalate, because it was not designed with a blocksize limit. Unfortunately, the project was hijacked by people who do not want on-chain Bitcoin transactions to be the future of peer to peer money. Using censorship and propaganda, they have succeeded in promoting the idea that Bitcoin is not Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash, but rather "Digital Gold". As such, fees escalated and while I resisted raising them on our Bitcoin transactions, ultimately we had no choice but to raise fees. Fees continued to escalate until it was no longer possible to accept on-chain bets using our original system, and eventually became totally unworkable. We had to retire the Bitcoin on-chain game, which is now only playable with BCH, LTC, and DOGE.
Since then, Bitcoin Cash has arisen as the standard bearer for the Bitcoin designed by Satoshi and described as a cash system in the original whitepaper.
Those who are loyal to the regime which has cooped and changed the Bitcoin system to be a settlement layer insist that high fees are a healthy state, and that BTC is digital gold. So, for our off-chain game, for now we are leaving BTC in place as a deposit method, however we will now treat this as digital gold as well. Rather than chase the fees around, we will leave them at the current level. As argued by the regime controlling BTC, Bitcoin is not for small amounts of money to be transaction.
So, again if you would like to play with a low-fee network that is reliable, I recommend Bitcoin Cash. LTC and DOGE also have low fees, though DOGE is not actively developed, and LTC has aligned itself politically with the core regime and could ultimately suffer the same fate in terms of fee level should it not choose to evolve.
We will likely add some other coins in the near-ish future, likely XMR and ZEC at first.
I'm sorry our fee level didn't meet your expectations, but this is a fundamental problem with BTC as a settlement layer, and our site's handling of it can never make everyone happy because it is a broken system.
Best regards,
Bitzillions Team

Not only satoshibones, almost all bitcoin sites are nuts now day with fees. I had bad experience with sites like nitrogensports and localbitcoins.
You might want to checkout bustadice/bustabit -- both popular sites and one of the few sites that actually handles bitcoin payments properly, and extremely cheaply. (Even allowing you to trade off speed for price if that's your thing). I'm actually currently using bustabit as my day-to-day wallet, the system is that good Isn't that your site? lol Don't get me wrong I LOVE bustabit, but I was trying to make a small return quick and wanted to see how their new site worked...

I've been using this site since Satoshi-dice switched hands and it was a suitable replacement for a while. However, due to bitcoins previously high transaction fees, they changed it to an off chain site. I decided to depsoit ~$23 in btc to try to get the coins to get a $25 gift card. Firstly, the transaction didn't show up. I shot them an email and they quickly responded and apologized and said they would look into it. Soon after, they messaged me back and said the problem was fixed and I was credited. I didn't play on the site until today, but I played and got enough to get was I was looking for. I clicked withdraw and it looked like nothing happened. I pressed it again and this time an error box came up. I checked on their site and apparently it processed the withdrawal and I guess it sends it all back to the receiving address. I was expecting something asking how much to withdraw and to put an address in, but whatever. I checked my wallet and there was no incoming transaction. I went to their site and the withdrawal Tx ID was blank. I messaged them again. they promptly responded and apologized again and sent the transaction. I went to my wallet and saw it, but it was half what I requested. I asked in the email why that was and they said that the rest was a transaction fee and to use bitcoincash instead next time. Surprised, I checked the transaction and sure enough it had a fee per byte over 200 SAT, which is 10 times higher than it needed to be.
Needless to say, this ordeal has been very frustrating and I would highly suggest players avoid satoshibones, at least for the time being...

They have a less than a month to make the most of it. I know according to the roadmap in the whitepaper they plan to do a MVP after the ICO, but I hope they reconsider and have a part of their team work on at least some kind of demo or mockup. I expect some delays. It's the easiest way to cope with disappointment once it turns out that things require more time. And more often that not - guess what - things require more time than expected.

More skins on the website will make the coin a more viable currency. Hopefully they are buying lots of bargain skins elsewhere and reselling them on their site to buy with skincoin
Skincoin is becoming popular in CIS/europe and maybe after it will be properly introduced to other regions, price can go up. IMO, It's also better for a coin to be used primarily in its main purpose (which in skincoin's case is for betting) I do not see how is it becoming more popular. The main problem of SKIN is a huge premine. Bittrex and another good exchangers will not add it the premine is a serious problem unless those coins are locked down in a multisig wallet controlled by a publicly known and trustworthy team. If not, then that is a danger.

This project has few edges over others that's make it always more attractive for investors. People pick up more tokens in each dump because it is keep changing permanently in short intervals in both directions but overall upwards more. Limited supply with concept of project is one plus point for this.
Then what are the few edges? I think this project should really point them out and let people know about it. I have a glimpse, but I am not really sure at this point.
