201  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Compensating miners on the wrong side of The Big Fork on: March 23, 2013, 02:05:29 PM
I'm sure HHTT Pool appreciate this (I mine there), as well as any other Pool operators there was 3 Orphaned blocks this month for HHTT.
Not sure how many of these were related to the "Big Fork".

According to the stats, it's still running at a loss due to their low fees, to being able to recoup something, will be nice for Fireduck.

So as a miner, I thank you. I didn't gain anything, other than to know you probably kept my pool operator happy.
202  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon] Batch 3 almost ready! on: March 23, 2013, 11:54:51 AM
Glad I invested in ASICMiner early on, Avalon was always my 2nd choice.
Since I have to admit, being a miner, I'd love to have one sitting next to my FPGA's.
Still struggling with the price though. I know it's worth it, since returns will be good, but such a sharp price increase is not nice move.
203  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 22, 2013, 11:32:08 PM
Is there plans to mine on other pools than the ones already in mining on?

I'm not quiet sure on suggestions, but I do know HHTT has grown heavily in size with other ASIC miners starting to mine there recently.
204  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 GH/s]HHTT -Selected Diff/Stratum/PPS/Paid Stales/High Availability/Tor on: March 22, 2013, 03:11:39 PM
It's a relatively small mistake in comparison, to when some do these large transactions.

Transferring a grand total of ~3450 BTC from about 200 address' to 2 new ones. 11 Btc fees, might be a oops moment, but I've seen worse where the fees are higher than the amount transferred. Yeah I'd imagine the fees weren't suppose to be that high.
205  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 GH/s]HHTT -Selected Diff/Stratum/PPS/Paid Stales/High Availability/Tor on: March 22, 2013, 02:53:39 PM
11 Btc in fees. Lucky Block.
206  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please explain why the following isn't a BAD issue for Bitcoin. Thank You. on: March 22, 2013, 02:43:39 PM
Bitcoin has many ways to represent smaller numbers.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/FAQ
Quote
1 BTC = 1 bitcoin
0.01 BTC = 1 cBTC = 1 centibitcoin (also referred to as bitcent)
0.001 BTC = 1 mBTC = 1 millibitcoin (also referred to as mbit (pronounced em-bit) or millibit or even bitmill)
0.000 001 BTC = 1 μBTC = 1 microbitcoin (also referred to as ubit (pronounced yu-bit) or microbit)
0.000 000 01 BTC = 1 satoshi (pronounced sa-toh-shee)

Think about outside the box, if pretty much every part of the chain, from sale/purchase of an item, and all things needed for it, includes wages are paid in Bitcoin, it's not that difficult to see Bitcoin as replacing any and all currencies.

Right now, I don't expect it to, for me, it provides the ideal way to do international trade, a universal currency.
207  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox not pay real money WARNING!!!! on: March 22, 2013, 02:27:22 PM
When I first started out in Bitcoin, I used Mt.gox, It worked, but for those who operate from Europe and more specifically in the UK (GBP), it quickly became not ideal to keep using them. It appears to only gotten worst, since I stopped using them last year.

I started using Bitcoin Central earlier in the year. It operates out of France, if I remember right and is better suited for the needs of those from Europe who want to transfer between BTC and fiat currencies.

If you find someone you can trust, yes direct selling/buying of BTC works out best, since it avoids any fees aslong as you agree to acceptable market value.
208  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: All my widgets DEAD!!! on: March 22, 2013, 01:32:37 PM
So in short, update to use their changed API structure.
It's all there, just moved about abit.

Not very helpful for fixing my widgets.

I don't know the programers and can't just call them up to make a quick change for me.

It's all the information the programmers need. It's not of any use to you personally, if you aren't the programmer.

210  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Interest check: Take over my business on: March 22, 2013, 11:56:49 AM
I am interested, a business partner of mine or two would probably be more than willing to provide a means to help it expand.
I'll get back to you soon on a few questions.
211  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is WAY too confusing for the average person on: March 22, 2013, 02:01:44 AM
Just make sure it is password protected and encrypted (ie. asks for a password when you send BTC). Then that is all you need to do.
Make sure you keep your PrivateKey Private (don't tell anyone), and keep it some where very safe. No need to delete things.
You don't have to keep it open all the time, that is a personal preference.

It was actually my Partner who said it in that context, I agreed with her of course as someone who has a Paypal account and used it for business purposes for a few years (still do). Helps pay the bills, till more people I work with are willing to switch over to Btc.
212  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is WAY too confusing for the average person on: March 22, 2013, 01:45:19 AM
I've used many different Bitcoin wallets over my time using bitcoin (mostly as a miner), I trade more now.

Admittedly Multibit was not one I tried. It is suppose to be pretty user friendly, but the standard client (bitcoin qt) for me was already exactly that, especially now with the windows installer, being so awesome and simple.

My Partner, recently relented and asked about Bitcoin, she said it was a lot bloody easier than trying to setup and use her Paypal account and Barclay's account. To me that says a lot. Also trades are done quick 24/7 and don't cost anything, even international, amazing!

She loves it. She does some international and local trade like myself, but she's not very techy, so usually had left this up to me, she did it her self this time.

To Attempt to answer your questions:

1) Private key, please excuse the vagueness, think of this as a combination of your account number and your password in one key - Only you should know this. You only need this for backup purposes, so it is essential, but won't be asked for by the client, after it's first imported into a wallet.
Your Wallet is just the account where your bitcoins are stored, depending on the client, you can have multiple accounts in one wallet, or just one.
Public key, is just your account number. This is known so others can send BTC to and you vice versa.

Generally speaking all wallets also should be password protected & encrypted. So any transaction, has to ask you for that password. You can view but not touch so to speak.

2) The private key, is a very unique key that identifies your account yes. But it's value or any information outside of that is not stored in the key it self. It is stored in the blockchain, that can be re-downloaded. So if the wallet.key file becomes corrupted, the worse you'd need to do is download the blockchain again or repair it. In the unlikely scenario also re-inserting your private key might be needed I suppose. But as long as you got that private key, you won't lose your Bitcoins, due to a corrupted file.
213  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 21, 2013, 02:08:45 PM
I'm sure this will be seen as negative, but I'm not really fussed about ASICMiner being back on a share/stock exchange.

ASICMiner was one of the few success stories that also survived GLBSE. Why risk the stress (and loss of BTC) of that happening again.
214  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory anonymously? on: March 21, 2013, 01:42:17 PM
Thanks for the Tip, it does indeed work now, with Armory.
215  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: March 21, 2013, 01:39:22 PM
Thanks DeepCeleron.

I'll probably just revert back temporarily. If It goes unfixed for a while, I might be tempted to give it a go in fixing it myself.
I've dabbled in quiet a few languages over the years. But I admit I wouldn't know where to start to fix this one.
216  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: March 21, 2013, 11:59:34 AM
Is it still true that, Vanitygen won't work with the latest Catalyst drivers?
Is the best advice still to go back to an older version of Catalyst, or is a modification of VanityGen being worked on to work?

I generated a decent amount of address' a few months ago, but got the bug to do a few more again, but found it not working now.
217  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory anonymously? on: March 21, 2013, 11:52:31 AM
That sounds like the same issue I had during testing.

I'm not sure if I set it up right.
218  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory anonymously? on: March 21, 2013, 02:34:06 AM
From what I understand Armory, needs the standard bitcoin client to be running.
I could be wrong, but if that is running via Tor, it would also apply for Armory.

I've never tested it, I never considered trying to using it via Tor, but you have given me an idea to test it.
219  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [WIP] FPGA Vanitygen on: March 20, 2013, 10:00:18 PM
I certainly like the idea. My FPGA's will eventually need an alternative purpose, once I moved onto ASIC.
Most likely FPGA's would do it a lot faster, than trying to use the GPU in my Laptop.

Would these work on Spartan 6 based boards?
220  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 20, 2013, 04:42:25 PM
Another tasty dividend pay day.
