UNO has the smallest TOP10 control and a sizable green section of investors (the general public control)

UNOs fair distribution ranks it With DRK and POT.

For less than $100 invested puts you in the top part of the Orange section (top 500).

DRK is fairest if you if you prefer more green but UNO has less top10 holding.  So UNO is mo betta!

My guess is UNO is also has a much better distro than LTC or BTC.

EDITED  Wink

side note Vericoin looks very pumpydumpy most held by top100 but nearly all controlled by the top1000 ... not okay for a coin out trading LTC in volume ... XC and Veri look to be faked volume ... A selling to A ... left hand buys from the right hand.

Green = new investors = real market liquidity.  Only brand new very low volume IPO coins should have no green.  And UNO has the most green Cool

this is weird,

my wallet keeps going back and forth between saying 452000+ blocks and i'm out of sync, or that there are 450677 blocks and i'm up to date.

right now http://sancrypto.info/index/show/UNO/ says we're on block 452,328
and so does http://bit.usr.sh:2750/chain/Unobtanium
but http://cryptap.us/explorer/chain/Unobtanium says 450,680
and so does http://cryptexplorer.com/chain/Unobtanium

what's happening?

same here

the FIX

just do the old on/off
reloaded and all is okay

UNO/USD pair = GOOD

UNO is almost like a 100% POS coin
but with MUCH more network security and almost no inflation
and this network can be widely decentralized because ASICs are cheap and easy to use. [also low energy consumption]

real money investors will soon see UNOs potential to store value [because stable base money+fair mining]
AND if
they can then measure UNO to usd fiat instead of having it tied to the rises and falls of BTC [wow!]

aka

when the dollar is weak big money will buy UNO, rather than BTC [minting 3600 coins/day]

FOREX 2.0 players will use a combo like UNO/NAUT <> UNO/USD <> euro,cny

this lets them shift between solid cryptos and fiat with no BTC in the middle
taking the game to a higher level of play  Cool

Exactly! Please, don't destroy this coin by changing it simply because others are doing it.
I don't think anyone is even considering that, don't worry!
AFAIK the only changes that are coming anytime soon are cosmetic and/or security related, as announced by Bryce and Blazr2.
agree.

Nobody here is a fan of PoS

Yes.  This seems to be the consensus.  I would still not throw out the idea of a POS feature for security purposes only, but this would have to be a new feature not like the conventional POS and can not change the fundamentals of UNO.  Something that would allow a wide network of wallets to add an additional security layer, but there is a problem of giving rewards without change the fundamentals.  POS is something we should consider last-ly?

Quote
Merged mining is only a thought experiment at this point. There's no reason to rush anything, the rumors of the death of PoW coins have been greatly exaggerated.
Merged mining does not require altering UNO.  It requires altering existing coins to attach (add value) to the UNO network.  Or the creation of new coins designed to merge with the UNO network.  On terms of public education we should highlight the fact that the SHA256 asic backed network is in FACT more secure (more Hashes) than any other network and that the UNO network itself is among the top10 most secure.

a great community, dedicated devs and a vision. Up 1000% over the past 2 months, not a pump and dump.  ... Creating an ecosystem around their coin. Instead of spending their time following trends and building useless anonymous chat clients and other bling bling into their wallet, they create services that have the potential to *really* bring their coin to the masses.

STAGE ONE :: a great community, dedicated devs, solid coin algo, and a vision check
STAGE TWO:: create services open issue

services?  What is UNO?

1.0.0  A store of value coin on a very secure network (not a currency webmoney see Litecoin/Blackcoin/doge)
1.0.1  A digital wealth management product [DWMP]
1.1.0  The second strongest SHA256 network not the case right now but is the GOAL
2.  A part of the digital asset economy traded with other SoV pairs (like NAUT/Deric)note each are on a different network Wink
3.  The 'hard' wallet idea is cool and will be a great way for non-techie people to buy UNO
4.  ??

I would lay out:  informative website(s), blockchain website(s), stabilization fund(s),  ecosystem of coins, multiple non-exchange coin retailers, multiple DAC projects / crowd funding (starting with the above mentioned projects).

Should we look at forming LLC like Karma?

7994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 08, 2014, 11:37:21 AM
do we need a new coin for merged mining (duo-idea)? I think possibly not, but if there are no good enough 3-minute-coins out there one could launch such a new 3-minute-coin as a test. If it can stand on its own we could merged mine it later. If it fails, no problem and we forget it again. It doesn't need to directly relate to uno. It only needs to be good and fill real demand.

Our problem could be to find a good enough coin to put to the side of uno. Goat, mea, orobit are all dead and abandoned coins. Good idea to bring them back with the merged mining? Who wants those? Ideally we should have another coin that is actively traded and stands on its own to merge it.

Bingo.  The other 3-minute-coins are rather slim pickens.

Goat :: greatest of all time 6million coins, low rewards (alive?)
mea :: middle earth ... I like lord of the Rings but not with my UNO (mining is fair around 1TH)
orobit :: gold bit, 21million (btc clone?)

I think orobit is a good the better of the candidates, not sure if the dev is active.  Can to ask them to program the merge on their side?

Hence the thought that it is best to just create (copy known good working algos).  And let them float.

Yes, Miners will come given a strong value of UNO

But if the network is north of 20 TH/s most still won't be bothered because 0.001 coins split over 20 TH/s is not worth it.  And we need to aim for being the second strongest SHA256 network.  So the reality will be 0.001 coins split over 2000 TH/s

On these merged coins: "It doesn't need to directly relate to uno." Bingo again.

It is just bonus feature, a plus for mining on the UNO network.  But  Grin ... I think we have enough smarts among us that we can whip up some rather intelligent algos, that just might provide a good supporting cast to make UNOs star light shine even brighter.

What is important is that the UNO network takes the lead in allowing merged mining.  Even if these are just clones, as a miner I'll take the launch bonus periods just to see if the coin matures into something of value.  If I already get UNO then it's a perk/bonus.

Quote
to put it short:
-if merged with an existing coin: don't let it be a dead/anbandoned/shitcoin with no community
-if new coin because we can't find a good enough existing coin: let the new coin live on its own for a few months and see if it can stand before merging it. It needs to be good and fill real demand

Ok. That works too.  But again the UNO network needs to take the lead in merged mining.  If we do I think new SHA coins will independently code themselves to be 3min and mergable. All SHA coins, even the lead dogs like Terra, are faced with a very big problem, the score is 90000 to 30, and new TH/s coming daily by the box, it means merge/pos or die.

If we take the lead I think we will stay in the lead. Strong network plus a very valuable coin, causes a network/looping effect.

Quote
Merged mining doesn't mean by necessity to have that other coin strongly associated with uno, right?
The UNO community can accept/acknowledge them as we choose.

Quote
Another idea could be to hardfork a coin with good perspectives out there with active community to make it fit for merging with uno.

I like this.  Most SHA256s are in trouble and can FORK to 3mins if they want to live, but also many listed/traded SCRYPTS are in big trouble due to asics.  cpu-coins jump ship and come to the dark side Smiley

Quote
How's Zetacoin doing?

In trouble, low reward and many coins = problem.  UNO at least in the short term can attract some TH/s given a slight price rise.  But zeta is stuck at 30sec cuz that's their thing.

Quote
what about netcoin?
if we can show them that it works first, but that they are cpu and we'll have to prove that transition works on a smaller cpu community first.

Quote
Securecoin possible?
They are quark, plus the dev team includes Digital and Argent-um.  So they'll lose face going SHA.

Quote
Maybe joulecoin wants to change blocktime to 3 minutes?  Tigercoin could be made to fit if dev is still around?

I like this.  I really like this.  Both have strong market and mining support given NO dev.  Both are well time tested and cryptsy listed.  The communities may hold strong to their 45sec block speed BUT is that more important than survival?

Quote
Will it result in clusterfuck? If i understand right there is no limit for coins to be merged, right? We could invite active coins to adjust themselves to fit uno? Can be more than only one coin?

I don't know.  Someone of a higher technical power needs to address this specifically.  From what I understand the mining pool is the key factor.  The coins just are coded to allow merged mining.  Example.  the pool hashes UNO first and foremost and then any extra juice can be granted to mining other blockchains in a programmed order.  You could mine in a pool that mines UNO only, or you could mine in a pool that mines UNO and 6 other coins.

Quote
if prices for uno rise a lot over next few months and can be sustained we possibly don't even need to care so much about it. Let's see how much money the next altcoin-bullmarket flushes in maybe the topic becomes obsolete if that is a lot. That could also happen.

Anyway: good to be ahead of the curve.

happy miners = strong/secure network = happy longterm investors

strong/secure network  Wink

My 2bits.  Yes my hope is that price alone brings mining power.  But there is also safety in numbers.  In this case the more the merrier.

7995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 07, 2014, 11:31:37 AM
hey guys. prominerone just asked me about merged mining for uno. I was asking Blazr2 about it but didn't get a reply.
I thought about it more and came up with this conclusion:
if uno is merged-mined with btc that would make it secure on the one hand but also it would be kind of a by-product of btc (like nmc or ixc).
But here is the clou: if we could get other good coins to be merged mined with uno, wouldn't that be better? So investors could invest in another blockchain to diversify and uno wouldn't be depending on btc. Look what vertcoin and monocle did. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=585817.0)
So i think an alternative to merged mining with btc could be having other coins merged mined with uno. Maybe it is even possible to give miners all options (i don't know how hard that would be to code or if possible).

was also just sending ticket to crypto-trade.com if they would add uno2fiat-market.

Merging Benefit it attracts more TH/s aka more miners

Merging with BTC problem is requires FORK to 10min block speed.  Also name, dev, and ix coin already working that niche.

Merging with other SHAs requires no fork?  We just join other 3min block speed coins.  Just update the QT versions?  IMO this is the smartest move.  Candidates GOAT, MEA, Orobit.  We could also just make some new merged coins (just copy new forks of proven good alt SHA coins and clock them to 3min)  I suggest some POS/POW algos like TEK, OSC, and DEM. And some billion coin algos like CTM.  And a UNO 2.0 called DOU (just copy of UNO maybe reduce the reward half life by factor of 2)

So we therefore make the the 3minute block speed an attractive place to mine.  We could have 8-10 coins of various coin schemes all mine-able with UNO and we address the key problem UNO network has low TH/s and this difficult to overcome because the reward is very low.    The other option is to FORK and add POS (which screws with the fundamentals).
7996  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 02, 2014, 12:07:55 PM
I'm another one who's been with Unobtanium from the beginning.  I just think it's timely to express a characteristic of UNO, which is independence from the cycles of other cryptos and financial instruments.  Right now, the aware observer may be realizing that UNO's been hit by poor phase timing by forces beyond participants' control.  This isn't the first time.

The long-term strategist, holders, UNO veterans, all know this is not something significant in the larger picture.

When UNO surprises everyone,...and it will,...this, too, will not be when the casual observer will expect it.

Just some things to think about, then silently go back to what you were doing.  Wink

I invested previously in this coin and I'm very disappointed that developer just gave it up. Currently it can't even synchronize, because bitcoin-like clients are banned on undernet and rizon. So... I have to bring it up to life! Smiley I've corrected irc network and patched up openssl heartbleed vulnerability dependencies. That's most important things to do for a start. But there will be more!

Development plan:
- compiled windows wallet (80% done)
- p2pool support
- multipool (60% done - it was my primary project)
- website (10% done - bought really nice template)
- blockchain explorer
- refreshed logo
- more exchanges (Cryptsy is cool, but we need few more)

GitHub Source:
https://github.com/alerj78/lucky7coin

How to compile:
cd src
make -j 8 -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=- USE_IPv6=1
strip lucky7coin

I like you taking care about LK7. I like old coins, dying..., so I am buying them and holding price at least at some level. I have bought almost 10% of all LK7 last days. I LK7 drops bellow 40 satoshi, I will buy more. right now I have bought enough LK7 from weak hands to stop sell pressure. Please do your job, create syncing windows wallet, I will than do the mine and push price up.

8000  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Emerald - EMD, a great cryptocurrency | Version 1.3 released! on: May 30, 2014, 05:13:12 PM
Hello, everyone.

I've been following Emerald as well as Diamond and Ruby Coins for awhile now. I think with current development in Diamond DMD it is time for Emerald to do something to attract more people into mining and owning the Coin which has tremendous potential. Change in Algo, more services and some marketing will be nice.

My two cents - I wouldn't change a thing, and would prefer that any new developer not change the basics of the coin either.  This coin perfectly fills a gap other coins don't have covered.  It's profitable enough to be worth while to mine, but not so profitable/popular that it gets pounded by multipools.  It's easy enough to mine to make collecting several thousand easily attainable for anyone, but low enough reward that a couple thousand still have value.

An argument could be made that maybe POS could be added to it to increase it's value a little, but it's a great coin to mine as-is, so going with a high POS reward, or switching to 100% POS like Philosopherstone is contemplating would make mining it worthless.  Why mine 100 or 200 Emeralds a day when you can just buy a mess of them and sit back and collect minting rewards?  Is anyone still mining ZEIT?  No, because it's pointless.  But I'm not selling mine, because just leaving it in my wallet collects far more per month than I could mine in a year.

Maybe adding a small POS component, like 10% per year, would be a good idea to prevent a 51% attack, but more than that would change the coin too much.

I would argue that if people want to see more activity in the community, they should get involved and promote it.  Making more people aware of the coin would be a great thing and probably drive the price up naturally.  I've seen one or two posts about people accepting Emerald for goods or services - a commiserative coin about Mt. Gox for example.  Bottlecaps has one or more vendors that accept CAPs for seasoning and sauces.  These examples can drive demand.  Getting a good website up would almost certainly drive demand - what exists right now is not going to get people interested.  Promoting in other posts can drive demand.  Hell, even someone pumping the coin in forums and chat rooms to dump their load of Emeralds can drive demand by making more people aware it exists, but switching the algorithm is not going to drive demand for the coin, and may drive people away.

As an example, I used to mine Diamond every day, and I'd get 10 to 15 per day.  They switched to Groestl and now I can't effectively mine Diamond any more.  I get 1 a day.  One lucky day last week I got 3.  Yesterday I got none.  I'm done.  I'll probably hold what I have to collect POS rewards, but I'm done mining it.  And the current price reflects the coin's demand.  It went from over 100k satoshi to 80k, and if they don't fix pool mining, I think it's going to go lower.  Damn shame, Diamond was awesome.  Now, if you don't have a rig with 6 GPUs, it's a waste of hash to mine it, because you aren't getting any.

Another example is Galaxycoin.  That was a good one too, as it was.  It used to cost 500 to 700 satoshi and it was easy to mine.  A new developer took over the coin, changed it too much, and now it's worth 125.  that was months ago and it hasn't recovered.

Emerald was all but dead a couple times, but it survives because it's good the way it is.  Changing it too much in my opinion would be a bad idea, and if it goes as poorly as Diamond is going right now, the change could kill the coin.

That's my thoughts.

excellent advice above ^^^^^^^

my 2 cents

EMD needs some protection against 51%
POS of 1% should fix that, no?

I have also noticed nibble gets some attention because it is scrypt-SALSA and then there is scrypt-OG.  That should do the asic resistance fix, and EMD should seek to stay 1GPU miner friendly.

slightly more aggressive but also investor friendly POS option ::
