To the OP,
There are literally thousands, if not tens of thousands of geeks ready to download a new altcoin source/binary the very MILLISECOND it comes out. Some of them have 100Mbps+ connections. Some of them have machines set up to mine that coin a few seconds after downloading what they need.
Do not QQ and yell scam if you aren't the first person to mine a new altcoin and become a billionaire.
Everybody else who starts these stupid threads needs to realize this and shut the hell up. Nevermind, I'm fucking naive if I think that will ever happen.
I added firewall rules, i even had a worldcoin.conf all ready to go plus all my miners configured to solo mine an hour before the official launch. That's just called good planning

Anyone ever figure out what the communications port is?
Comm port for the firewall is 11081 Are you sure? Because I'm not getting any communication through that port after opening it. Only 8 connections as well. Yes... I had to add nodes to my conf file... and I am still getting 15 connections. TCP 0.0.0.0:11081 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING [worldcoin-qt.exe]

I would imagine the people trying to praise this coin are the same that were dick riding feathercoin a few weeks back.
I'm praising all of the hard work the dev's put into this, and how smooth the launch was. So many complaints, but I have yet to see anyone do a better job. Clear downloads, good websites, Twitter updates, clear instructions, settings, nodes, etc.... I have all orphans so far, but you have to admit the setup is really professional. Just about everything was accounted for, I even noticed the dev has been good about updating www.worldcoin.in with good nodes as they come in. Oh and the name is great, I had been thinking of a coin along these lines for a few weeks now... was going to call mine "World Credits" though. Credits just seem like a better name to set it apart from the rest of the "coins". SWTOR FTW. I am not complaining... just frustrated. They do have a nice website, twitter updates, the launch was within the expected launch time.

I'll throw 2 mhash into it and see how it goes
I have 3MH/s in and that's what I have... 0 blocks right now. Current network speed: 11,775,820

Do I dare setup a pool for this?
It would help out a lot Can you even do that?? The orphan rate is incredibly high...
|
|
|
It's hard to get excited with 0 block after an hour... almost 1k orphans... and the wallet slipping out of sequence every few seconds. Sigh.... and I was so hopeful about this coin...
That's you, not the coin Lol.. it's not just me... dozens of people in the IRC are having the same problem. I don't have this issue with mining other coins.

Not all pre-mining is a scam... especially when they mention 'bounties' in the announcement.

Lol... F'n hilarious. Everyone who posts here should have a pirate name!

It's like a mini lottery inside a lottery of finding a block! This is more fun than the recent releases!

|
|
Lol... I like to collect some of each -- if nothing more than just to have em. I like me some altcoins!!

What are we talking here... sha, scrypt or scrypt-jane?
|
|
|
Why is CPU-friendly a desired quality? CPU-friendly is botnet-friendly.
Well, SHA-256D is ASIC/FPGA friendly. Scrypt is GPU friendly. I think the point is to move back to an area where extraneous hardware won't give you a severe advantage. Now, I am saying that I am guessing this is the point.. so save the flames!!

Perhaps... but the market price drives profitability. It's possible a coin could outpace BTC on profitability... even if it's CPU mined.
However, I am curious to know what people consider a 'botnet'. I am an AWS subscriber -- and I do use one instance that has 30 cores. Is it completely profitable to mine this way, no.. not at the moment... but it's fun to play with,
However, does this make me a bot net? According to who you ask, the answer may be yes.
Now.. I could just as easily go to a thrift store and buy up 20 machines, plug em all in an have the same result.
Am I a bot net now? No, now I am a farm.
I don't think tagging cloud computing as a botnet is valid.
Now, malware that infects hundreds, or thousands, of machines without the users knowledge... now that is a true botnet.
