1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - An Open, Composable Smart Chain Platform, Secured by B on: January 30, 2020, 10:04:41 PM
Can someone please confirm, once and for all, that the Supernet/UNITY asset migrated over from the Nxt blockchain over to Komodo is now completely and utterly worthless?  And that it was one of James' 777 biggest frauds - and that's saying something.

Not true at all, currently jl777 has an offer of 30 KMD per supernet .

Where can we get more information about the offer? Read the first time that such an offer even exists.

He made this offer in Discord,  you can ask him yourself in the #ask-jl777 channel

I would love 30 KMD per supernet.  Is that channel still active?  How can I otherwise find James?

Yes the channel is still active.  It is in the Komodo Discord

New version of Pirate lite Wallet. The update also includes the MAC OS version.

https://github.com/MrMLynch/PirateWallet-Lite/releases/tag/1.0.3

maybe I should swap mine this native pirate chain on agama is such a pain in the 4ss it keeps crashing my computer the file is so big i keeps reverifying the chain its so annoying what is the point of that anyway?  Why isn't it all lite, hosted other places why do we need to keep a copy of the entire blockchain on our pc to be verified is this designed for criminals to fake versions of the blockchain and generate pirate to be verified on there own pcs?  Why would a honest person need that?

Running a full node is being a part of the pirate network.  This is the same for any blockchain network.

I don’t understand where you are coming up with the crazy idea that running a full node is for criminals.  I suggest you take a class on how blockchain works.

would be appreciate if bilaxy and binance deposit and withdrow worked... they announce bilaxy supporting komodo but it doesn't work...v Lips sealed

Most exchanges are on hold due to hard fork update they should return to normal within the next few weeks

By the way I just participate in Stress test not bad i have
two succesfull swap and about 20 fail Grin that stuck on 1/3 procces, I dont know why?!?!
I think there are still many things that must be done by KMD team when it ready to release

During the test we were intentionally spamming the network with swaps to identify bottlenecks in transaction capacity.  We have gained valuable insights and are in the process of utilizing them to optimize various areas of the DEX.   To give some perspective , the volume on one orderbook (RICK/MORTY) was around 100k order requests or about that of a BTC/USDT pair on a large exchange.  Original MM1 handled 3x this capacity without issue and we expect to be able to optimize the current MM2 to do even more.

You can swap now without issue.  Just during stress test expect to have issues as we are trying to see where things break.

Read a comprehensive article that will analyze and compare the 8 most famous Dex protocols: 0x, IDEX, Waves, Loopring, Kyber Network, Decred, Nash Exchange и AtomicDEX.

What about Bitshares? They are I believe 30 million marketcap and have had a working DEX for a long time.

Different kind of Dex

So is it known if anyone actually had their coins stolen as a result of this?

Yes, there are addresses that the team couldn’t get to in time

Why was my post deleted? Just proves you are skimming all these fake projects for yourselves.

"These notary nodes are a. Centralized scam to benefit only the old nxt people like James that left nxt and its holders holding bags of worthless shit coins."

1) 64 voted in operators != centralized
2) Notarization has proven effective at stopping  51% attacks such as that on EMC2 , Notary nodes != scam.
3) NXT went to another platform, Ardor and many projects such as Waves, Komodo, Freemarket etc. branched off on their own.  Of James’  “worthless shitcoins” , they have already paid out 2 million USD equivalent,  the only ICO previous to KMD that James  has done was Supernet which raised 1 million at the time of creation.  So it appears this is doubling a value,  which != “worthless shitcoins “ , additionally 100 BTC worth of KMD was purchased for the next payout.

If I were to hazard a guess why your post got deleted it’s because it’s incendiary baseless FUD,  that are outright lies.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - next generation platform, Secured by Bitcoin on: April 07, 2019, 04:19:13 PM

I disagree with this because there are many flawed assumptions in it

1. Collusion :  This doesn’t make sense.  notarizations are public and in the worst case can only refuse to notarize.  This is all publically visible so it would be easy to see who isn’t working well with the others.

2. bad for decentralization:  25% of the coin can be mined by anyone, so anyone can participate.  Cheaper to get ASICs for the 1.2% coin generation than to buy your way to a spot.

3. Not required to compete in mining and invest in hardware: definitely not true,  there is competition among notary nodes ( mempool hunting ) and competition with the FFA miners,  and running a top 30 node without a good server costs money.  And this isn’t including the costs of keeping up with jl777s updates,  which is a job in itself and will only get harder in the future .

4. Small clique of insiders:  Even now there is over 100 people working as notaries/ with notaries or trying to become notaries.  It’s open to anyone to join,  how is this a) small and b)  insiders.  Every election so far people without the ability to vote themselves in have been elected.

Notary nodes have one job and that’s to notarize.  Who does it is pretty irrelevant, and the nodes on the network they are notarizing to will reject fake notarizations and the misbehaving Notary outs themselves as a bad actor.

With KMDs notary system I would argue it is MORE decentralized than 99% of coins which only have a few pools mining everything.

By collusion I mean in the election process to get NN positions, not the notarisation process itself, and when I say bad for decentralisation I'm not talking about mining KMD itself, but more how many independent separate entities become NN, and the extent to which co-operation between them makes them appear to operate as a single dev team sponsored NN system that employs 64 sys admin operators, or at least has potential for that perception to grow.

I strongly disagree with "Who does it is pretty irrelevant" - if you really believe that why not stick with PayPal & Visa, why not just have one entity responsible for running 64 global NN and let that entity employ 64 contractors?

Crypto users are searching for projects that are decentralized, trustless, competitive, adversarial, and the assumption from nearly everyone in this space is 95% of projects are scams designed by insiders to enrich themselves.

Don't get me wrong, I have been supporting komodo for years and love the tech, but I really hope these elections for NN become super competitive and hard fought.

Even worst case scenario where all the notaries collude to get their friends in , Notary mining only makes up 30% of the yearly coin generation.  Divide that by the number of colluders and it’s shows it’s not very profitable at all. Let alone dealing with the side effects ( people complaining of collusion ) which could lower the coin price .

It doesn’t matter who does it because the protected networks normal nodes will reject a bad notarization.  One person can do it or someone could hire out a bunch of contractors. But Komodo isn’t a company so whoever would want to do that would have to fund that themselves and if one person just did it, I think people would take more issue with 1 person making 30% vs. many splitting it.

In the future there will lite versions of DPoW, some may be centralized some not, some in the middle.  All up to the project that implements it.  Not all blockchains will be using the model we normally associate with crypto

If the project was only meant to enrich insiders then why is 60% of the coin generation able to be done by anybody?  Most coins require massive amounts of hardware or coin supply to get a slice of coin generation,  komodo only requires 10KMD and sending a transaction once a month.   I realize that you weren’t criticizing Komodo directly on this, but compared to pretty much any other coin , komodo offers everyone a chance to be part of the generation process.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - next generation platform, Secured by Bitcoin on: April 06, 2019, 11:50:12 PM

NN elections aren't about politics, they're about the distribution of profits from community-owned resource - the komodo network - anything over 100K per year should go back to KMD owners who can decide to donate to devs or offer bounties etc or invest in other ways. P-trump is speaking the truth, nobody will accept 100% of notary profits going to operators forever, unless they invest profits back into the community.

Far too early to be thinking like this, priority is electing skilled sys admins and developers to finish the tech and grow adoption of DLT, jl777 added 5% reward for KMD investors so everyone is taken care of, no need to worry about notary profits getting too big, KMD barely above $1 lol

I disagree, the concentration of NN is bad for decentralisation and if it starts it'll be hard to undo coz notaries don't compete like PoW miners, so there'll always be a worry about collusion (even just a perception) if multiple NN are operated by a small clique of insiders who aren't required by the system to either compete in mining and invest in hardware, or put their capital on the line with PoS. That's why P-Trump is trying to encourage as many people to run as possible now before season 1 & 2 veterans run again and get more NN, and offering some voter bribes is a way to level the playing field with established NN who have good reps and more rusted on voter support from established relationships.

Crypto consensus is built on competition and risk/reward game theory dynamics, and as good as komodo dPoW system is technically, a weakness is the NN operators don't have to compete directly and don't have to invest much $$, so there's a risk of ending up with an insiders circle jerk when what we really want is 64 independent NN.

I disagree with this because there are many flawed assumptions in it

This probably has been discussed before, I just find myself thinking about it now and then. I'm wondering if there is a way to make KMD (the cryptocurrency) needable for the Komodo platform without undermining the team's vision. In my opinion, one of the reasons why KMD seems to lack in demand compared to other cryptocurrencies which are necessary to the well-functioning of their platform is that it's not needed. On one hand, this is somehow quite admirable, on the other, it seems to drive value out of KMD. Use cases of other comparable cryptocurrencies are: Acting as gas/fuel for transactions/smart contracts creation, offering discounts on fees based on the held amount or if paid with (I actually don't know if Barterdex does that), being regularly burnt? I don't know, I'm just trying to see if/how more value can be driven into KMD. I'm not at all belittling what Komodo has achieved, as far as I'm concerned, it's way ahead of a lot of projects and has been pioneering in a lot of fields, something just seems to be missing to give it that push that will move it to top 5 (2?) by market cap and keep it there for good.

How do you think dPOW is paid for? When there is trading activity on BD, what pair do you think has the most volume? How about if you want rewards for the next 10-12 years? There are plenty of revenue-stream asset chains in the ecosystem that, you guessed it, get paid out in KMD.

Yep, in what you mentioned, the only thing that incentivizes hodlers would be the rewards for the next 10-12 years. dPOW, high volume and revenue on assets being paid in KMD doesn't add value to hodling KMD, or I don't see why it would. So it seems that the interest model isn't enough to participate in helping KMD realize its full potential, whereas other models seem to have more effect on the tokens powering the platforms using those models.

If there is a substantial demand for KMD via DPoW ( or revenue streams )then price should go up.   The users of DPoW and the companies paying out need to get the kmd from somewhere, typically the market and they are recurring streams ) Additionally 0confirm trades via BarterDEX require KMD for deposit as well.   I would imagine in the future KMD will act as a nexus between the chains in its cluster, which gives more it more utility and reason to hold (anticipation of future personal use ) .

Additionally MoMoM will probably have a KMD cost associated.

I know that.

It is being traded on BarterDEX and OTC mainly. If you remember it pays out when it has accumulated 1 million in revshare , which it did in DEC 2017,  2018 has been quite the bear market and it has not accumulated 1 mil in revshare yet. So it will keep on accumulating til it does.

I see there are several token lists in Agama wallet, to send them whether need Komodo as transaction fee like Ethereum?
Because I just got to know this wallet so I'm still a little confused, I appreciated if someone can explain me more detail about this.

No,  only for KMD transactions.  The assetchains and 3rd party coins pay in their own currency as normal and erc20 pay in eth as normal

Hi guys.
Is it true KMD will do full rebrand before 31 Dec? Is there any possibility to postpone this rebrand later?
It is important to me to know this. please tell me.
Thanks

Probably won't happen til next year
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: December 07, 2018, 12:46:50 AM
Is there a reason why on Cryptopia and other exchanges deposits and withdrawals are not possible because of a Maintainance (on request of the devs)? Waiting since Sunday to be able to use these features but I can't find any information if there are problems in the network. Does anyone have more information?
They are probably upgrading the wallet to prepare for the upcoming planned hardfork.

Is there any information until when the upgrade will be conducted? I still can't deposit or withdraw on both exchanges I am signed up that list Komodo. I couldn't find any official info from Komodo with dates regarding completion of the upgrade :/
here is the article https://komodoplatform.com/upgrade-guide-dec-15/

Whats the use from announcing deal breaker features when the price sits in cavern? And can topple quite a bit before something can be done to drag it by hair to where it belongs. Announcements like this should be done when the time is right, and it does not seem that u reckon to make people buy at ostensibly low prices unless u are a silly pissoir sipper.

Or it's just combining several things that have been sitting around for months into one update .  Though incredibly useful sapling and the parameter additions are hardly game changing features.  Now when CC is added to Komodo core itself that is a different story

How can I find out the balance of my address with a Pirate Block Explorer?
I have entered my address starting with zc... that shows confirmed balance on Agama wallet under https://explorer.pirate.black, but the address cannot be found.

You can´t look on the Explorer for your Adress - this dont work. This is Pirates - invisible - no Metadata for Analyse

What kind of address can I show on the block explorer then? The search field of https://explorer.pirate.black says "search for block, transaction or address". That confuses me.

There are transparent addresses on pirate, the receiver of initial generation from coinbase  and the notaries.
