link to picture of gui posted today with working syscoin transaction.   Exact time of release is not known,  but if you hang around our slack you can see the team working feverishly and make estimate based on your own conclusions

so when will the wallet come out and what address do i send the btc to for my komodo coins?

Mainnet will be launched approximately 2 weeks after the end of the ICO.    Deposits for the ICO will be done on KomodoPlatform.com  when the ICO becomes live.

Is Iguana still on schedule to release before ICO starts?

This was asked a day or two ago from the GUI team and they said to be working really hard to achieve that.

This doesn't look good.
A couple of days to go. They should know if it is going to work or not.

This ICO is rushed. Do what you said you were going to do. Release iguana.

Or postpone the ICO if you can't do what you said you were going to do.

Otherwise what you are doing IS the definition of a money grab. Make promises, ask for money, don't deliver, keep money. And don't give me we are working hard look at the git, yes I know there is progress, but you need to do what you said you would. And you said it would be done b4 the ICO start. It's that simple.

If you do not release Iguana b4 ICO you are 100% disrespecting the people you are asking money from, and will have your first black mark on this project and a loss of confidence by many.
command line iguana is available for a while now. We also have a functioning GUI, but these iguana GUI are not directly connected to dPoW.

The ICO is about komodo dPoW, the fact that iguana will also be available is an extra bonus. Clearly no komodo ICO funds were used to develop iguana.

My judgement is that getting dPoW functioning is much more important than GUI for iguana. iguana GUI does not do dPoW. iguana GUI does not do zcash.

anyway, I will continue to finalize dPoW as I dont personally do GUI

I think you're kind of missing the point, jl777.  The point is to prove that you can keep your word and in return, develop more trust and a better reputation which will help the ICO.  You did say iguana GUI will be done before ICO.  Yes, it's not a big deal whether or not this happens from a tech point of view.  But if you say something is going to happen, then it's important to make sure it will.

JL777 is not doing GUI development,   Iguana GUI is being worked on by Boogieman and EasyDex GUI is being worked on by grewalsatinder.    He completed his part of the work, now the other developers are working to bring it to the finish line.   Coding takes time,  and its better to have a project with no/little bugs than to have to issue constant updates to fix bugs in a rushed release.  Be patient.

Is there a chance running a notary node (and receiving KMD fees) might be considered a money transmitting business under FINCEN guidelines? My opinion is no, but I'm not a lawyer.

https://www.fincen.gov/sites/default/files/shared/FIN-2013-G001.pdf

The definition of a " Money Transmitting Business " is a subset of a Money Services Business  which Wikipedia defines as

An MSB has specific meanings in different jurisdictions, but generally includes any business that transmits money or representatives of money, provides foreign currency exchange such as Bureau de changes, or cashes cheques or other money related instruments. It is often used in the context of Anti Money Laundering (AML) legislation and rules.[1][2]

The beauty ( and bane)  of cryptocurrency is that the IRS and several other cases have ruled crypto as Property and not money.   I'm no lawyer but if its consider property then nodes are not considered money transmitting businesses and do not need FINCEN registration.   If you are concerned, it would be best to check with a business lawyer  preferably one that deals with cryptocurrency.

Regarding Mining/Staking and similar:

I can't speak for everywhere but the IRS guidance for cryptocurrency mining is that it is considered income.

You should download the BTCD wallet
I have never been able to download the BTCD wallet. Where did you get yours?
On bitcoindark.com it says "download soon", how long means "soon"?
I have bought BTCD on NXT AE and they're useless if I can't get a working wallet.
I thought I had a working wallet and made the mistake to send 100 BTCD to an address given by this wallet but I only had one active connection and didn't get a single block for 2 weeks I had this wallet open.
Has anyone else had any issues with their wallet?
I have a recent computer with windows 10 (64bits).
Thanks for helping if you have any clue what to do.

Stepwise guide to help you

1) To get the BitcoinDark-QT  client for windows
goto  https://mega.nz/#!ooZAmBwL!ghTTgRvGoa7zhoCMjxs-aJD56CGXSY17YI9cjcZ83Sw

Runs just like a normal QT of any other coin.

2)  Open up BitcoinDark Folder
3) Open bitcoindark.conf  in a text editor
4)  Copy and paste in conf file ( Some current peers just pulled now )

addnode=162.13.4.69:14631
addnode=85.25.217.233:14361
addnode=24.168.17.50:14361
addnode=100.13.54.119:14361

5) Run Bitcoindark-QT

What makes komodo any better than monero, which is clearly the front runner at the moment for darknet payment. Please use laymen terms if possible.

I dont have BTCD and dont plan on getting any. This seems after following this thread for a month now that it's just a way to swap old for new, and those with old are HEAVILY compensated.

Not sure what to think. I want to invest, but doesn't feel right..

What makes komodo better than monero is the way privacy is enacted.   Monero's privacy is based on ring signatures, Which is to say that it obfuscates who is actually doing the transaction by presenting the tx  signed by a group of equally valid keys  where only one is the real one and there is no way to tell the difference between them.   As jl777  has mentioned earlier in this post  that with the amount of signatures being  between 3-10  it is a feasible to brute force which keys are whose  thereby breaking the privacy.   Another attack I could see being done is by the principle of exclusion,   for example,  if a ring signature is consisting of 3 signatures  and i control 2 of those, then i can deduce the third is the person under surveillance.

Komodo's privacy is accomplished with Zero Knowledge Proofs,   A Zero Knowledge Proof goes something like this:   Say I had two balls,  one was red and one was green  but i couldn't tell the difference because i was colorblind.  But you are not colorblind and can tell the difference.  I would challenge you to guess with 100% accuracy which ball was which when i would put them behind my back and mixed them around and presented them back to you.  Being that you can see the difference ( can tell which one is red and which is green) and that no matter what could tell which one was which,   despite my zero-knowledge ( inability to discern the color of the balls )   you have proved there was a difference ( 100% accuracy on choosing which ball was which no matter what way i switched them ).    Komodo uses Zcash's zk-SNARKS to accomplish this,  not to get long winded about it, but it essentially works out to being that you necessarily have to complete certain steps to do a tx,  it proves to the receipant   that the tx is legit   while at the same time being secured through encryption from outside viewers.

As for heavily compensated,  that depends on how you look at it.    On one hand  yes there are nice bonuses for btcd holders  but on the other  the percentage they hold  compared to what it was when btcd was the coin  is now alot lower.   Its a tradeoff   neither way  100% satisfies both parties  but it is an equitable solution to the problem of compensating original investors and incentivizing new investors to participate

BTCD holders will also receive a bonus equal to the average of the btc bonus collected.

Where can I download the wallet please?
On the front page of this forum I can't do it as the only download I see is "download soon".
On bitcoindark.com there's a wallet .rar I can't open and on MEGAsync I can't open the wallet either.
Thanks for your help.

Try using 7zip to open the file.   The link on the first page of the forum  has the wallet  you need depending on your OS

As a happy user of the MGW   I can for sure say it is fully operational.   James has been working tirelessly on the Iguana project for a long time now and its finally coming to fruition.  I even had the joy of running  the GUI version of it  and  by all accounts it is arguably the best piece of crypto software since Bitcoin itself.   Projects of this scale  take time,  and it definitely has been worth the wait.

After the Ardor Snapshot,  NXT will not plummet in value.   NXT is still home to the Multigateway and it could be used in an exchange like fashion.  Especially when atomic swaps and Instantdex is complete.   NXT exchange fees even with this massive increase in nxt price  only end up like 3 NXT ( 15000 satoshi ) when all said and done,  1 NXT to buy the order and 2 NXT to send to a non-NXT address plus txfees of the coin.  Atomic Swaps will make this competitive method of transacting.

Color me quite skeptical on that one. But what do I know, right?

The point is NXT will still have use even after Ardor.  If anything a lower NXT price makes the MGW even more attractive.

The current rise in price is obviously because of Ardor.   But post-Ardor ,  there are several reasons why people may prefer to stay on the system.  The MGW currently sees relatively little use due to the steps you have to jump through to do transactions.  ( i.e.  need NXT to list/delist buy/sell  etc. )  but if Instantdex delivers on its promise then all of those extra steps would be done behind the scenes.    The FNX token is another reason for people to stay. As well as continued incentivization like Megalodons forging bounty the lucky node lottery   etc.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out to say the least

375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NXT 2.0 Ardor No ICO Speculation - Live Now on: August 09, 2016, 04:00:19 AM
Going to put my prediction here:

After snapshot period ends on OCT 12th  NXT will continue to go up in price.

My rationale is simple

1) Ardor will be in token format,  and since the premise of the token is ICO-like. It stands to reason that 1 ARDOR > 1 NXT  on the NXTAE,  since all of the trades in some form or fashion will involve the NXT AE    even the ones on the exchanges like Poloniex.  Traders knowing this ( exchanges included ) will drive up the price of NXT to squeeze the most out they can from those looking to take advantage of new markets   NXT/ARDOR  BTC/ARDOR.

2)  ARDOR Hodling  > NXT hodling

It also stands to reason that there is more incentive to hold onto Ardor, limiting supply.  This is especially true of holders of low amounts of Ardor and  long-term investors.

Diminished supply along with the market makers to drive prices of both markets up  seems like a surefire way to increase price of ardor and nxt.
376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ARDR][NO ICO] Ardor, or Nxt 2.0, a Scalable Child Chain Platform on: July 26, 2016, 09:17:16 PM
The price made me laugh out loud this morning  Cheesy

Why? Is there a reason why we should be laughing? I think it is still too high to get in at these price. I am still awaiting for it to go down and have a fair bargain before buying.

I kinda expected it to go back down to 2k sat to be honest, not sure if it's gonna get there any time soon.
Also, I am getting about 150 NXT/day forging now, which is awesome

On what basis?

Holding NXT means you get Ardor, the more NXT you hold (the door), the more Ardor you get. This should act to increase demand in NXT, so a falling NXT price right now would not make sense. There may be a sharp fall in price in September running up to the Ardor distribution but they might be counteracted by late comers trying to get in the door through FOMO.

I feel the wider crypto community are ignorant to the Ardor release and many will be waking up as volume increases.

I have pointed out this before that we can use the price of NXT as a barometer to measure the interest in Ardor. If there is not much demand in NXT then we can see that not many people are interested in Ardor. Right now we are seeing that the NXT community got in to buy and hold NXT. We still have not seen outside the NXT community because there is not much chatter in the forum about Ardor. Everyone is busy talking about ETC and before that STEEM.

You are quite right, I believe, regarding price/barometer. But you forget the most important and the determining factor in NXT, since practically the very beginning: The fat wallets owners have one (logical) purpose. One only: To cash in on their holdings as fast (but orderly) as possible. Wouldn't you? They own many millions, tens of millions of it. And they won't be wealthy until they sell, at a decent price, most of their holdings. So the selling pressure is absolutely constant. At any price. And, logically, sucks up every wave of buying. The market doesn't allow for more of what has happened in the last few weeks (much bigger fish to catch) and therefore the price will continue going down... all the way to where it was before the Ardor announcement. No one of the small fish is selling (they are all accumulating ARDR), but the fat wallets are selling as much as they can and as quickly as they can. Like I said, they do it in an orderly fashion to keep the price from nosediving, but the selling is relentless. That was before ARDR and continues now that the influx from current holders have subside. That's how NXT "works".

As for Ardor itself, I have been trying to understand what it is and I believe I have it, finally. It's just a relative small advance in the same already existent technology. I guess what I was hoping for was some kind of actual REAL WORLD use of it. There's none. It isn't a technology that is going to be used by any real company. Any bank. Any retailer. Any exchange. Any country. It is a technology that will be used -as it is already- in the "Asset exchange", which is basically trading between a minimal group of people "assets" of no value or relevance in the real world. Or by chimeric "customers", such as NAUT or the Democracy thing that no country will ever use in the real world. So, again, it is something sold only to the exact same of convinced people with the exact same amount of resources but that is no closer to any mainstream use than it was two and a half years ago. Oh, and yes, the blockchain technology is being pushed in the real world, but it is being pushed (studied, experimented with...) by big REAL companies that will eventually come up with ready-to-implement solutions that will be sold to all the big companies (REAL ones) that are going to implement it.

As for the idea of decentralization... well, let's just say it is never, ever going to happen in the real world. Ever. And for good, evident reasons.

So now I finally understand that all the speak here -and in other boards- is directed at the "cult", not at the real world. But isn't it fun?

Ardor's key achievement is the ability to have your own blockchain in a easy to fabricate fashion.   Currently to make your own chain, you have dive into code , manually change parameters and add any additional feature that you might want,  ensure that feature is secure and works as intended , compile the code,  run your own chains,   ally with enough people who you hope won't screw you over in the low node/mining power phase of the development of your chain.  and the list goes on and on.

As for real world uses:    Here is one off the top of my head:    Think of a block chain based Udemy,   classes and books are stored in encrypted files on the data cloud.   Only those that paid for access to the file can access it  ( read only ),  ardor secures the system preventing double spend.   In the current solution the bad actor only needs to attack the central servers controlled by udemy  ( for access to all )  or a specific user ( for access to what they have access to ).   Ardor can't prevent the latter,  but the former  becomes a lot harder  because of the decentralized nature of the platform ( i.e. needing consensus that the person requesting is credentialed for access ).

Another, one which I am currently working on,  would be a record of organization meeting minutes.     These often are public documents that even in todays day and age are hard to track down.  With a child chain,  you can have the organization send the meeting minutes to a burn address ( genesis block if these child chains are nxt clones ).   The minutes are stored there and  when someone wants to look at them all they have to do is  search the organizations public address in a block explorer-like  app.    This would be a great use of  child chains,  as  public record/historical documents  need to be safeguarded against  bad actors from changing their contents.  ( my work is not on nxt/ardor,  but getting a frontend ready to hook on to the chain, hence the asking of when api docs being released. )

Yes, technically these features can be done on ardor itself  ( and nxt  as well ),  but hosting all these on one chain creates  bloat  ( makes it harder for transaction times and block chain syncing )  and disorganization  (  look at the wide variety of entries in any part of nxt ( data cloud, asset exchange, marketplace etc. ) to see what I mean.

Childchains allow categorization by function and distribution of load,   so in that sense it is a big step for crypto.

When will documentation  on Ardor's API come out?

Also has there been any word on the cost ( in Ardor ) to start a chain  or what the cost ( in Ardor ) would be for child chains   to be attached to the main chain  ( i assume this will be a daily maintenance fee )  but if not   how would this work?

Anyone heard anything from JL777 recently?

He's always active on Supernet Slack, only little info get posted here.

Today's news is the gui team posted a mockup for Iguana, looks great!

Bittrex volume:
0.02725681 BTC

How come?

BTCD has always been strange like that,   the only coin that whenever there is progress announced on it, it goes down in volume and price.   Don't worry  it will shoot back up soon ( a week or two )

To sum it up,  Ardor allows you to have your own Nxt 1.0  block chain  where you access to all the features and  some degree of customizability within it.    Security functions of the chain are handled by the ARDOR chain itself  such as making sure no double spends or 51% attacks happen,  however if you want to store data on the chain you will have to have your own child chain specific nodes.
