221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2018-2019 betting on: June 08, 2019, 02:26:20 AM
Got my bets in, GSW -1.5 in first quarter and -3.5 first half

Both bets won! Congratulations to you.

So far, I've won a bet and lost one on Over 53 Total points in 1st Quarter, It's been an extremely low scoring game so far compared to any of the first 3 games. So I'm in huge doubt that the Warriors can rack up to over 108.5 points tonight.

Yea that seems high at this point. Just live bet golden state outright at -222 with the 1500 I won on the first 2 bets.
222  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best Featured Gambling Site on: June 08, 2019, 01:19:45 AM
I haven't seen anyone mention trustworthiness. There have been tons of sites that are fair and still ran away with users funds or done something else deceitful. So probably number 1 is being trustworthy and a good reputation.

224  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: My first Farm on: June 07, 2019, 02:33:44 AM
I guess you are lucky. Just remember that someone is paying that bill, and all it takes is a few insanely high Bill's for that luxury to be pulled.

Either way, host for others, will provide much more stable income over time.
225  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: My first Farm on: June 07, 2019, 01:08:04 AM
How are you getting 100% free electricity? Someone is always paying for it, and when they see their bill all of a sudden jumping up to 5 figures a month, you wont have free electricity for long.

That being said, you are probably better off hosting equipment then purchasing your own. Lower up front costs and constant revenue stream as opposed to declining with mining.

Just live bet the warriors to win for 1k, they have this locked in IMO!
Good pick on the live! I took them in the second quarter when they were down by 9 points and only received 3.00x odds. They immediately went down 12 points in less than a minute after I placed my bet live and the odds were 4.60x.

Good on you for putting it on the warriors as when they are down in a game this is usually the only way to get anything over 2.50x odds on them.
Nice catch, I know lot of people bet on Raptors on game 2 Grin. Even my deposit in sportsbet arrived early, I could've lost my money also Grin.
That's quite huge returns, congrats! Game 3 much exciting now since the series tied 1-1.
Any idea that Durant will show up on Game 3?

I can currently get golden state in game 3 at -233, about to put $2500 on it unless I can find slightly better odds.

Ouch...JK...totally forgot to make the bet and instead took the Raptors right before game time at +4. Nice turn of events!
227  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can these returns be legit? 50-55% in 12 months? on: June 05, 2019, 11:01:26 PM
It is a scam and will run away with your money at some point in time, simple as that. 45% after a few months or 180% after a year is completely insane and should be your first clue it's a scam. Think about it, they would have the world's entire supply of money in a few years time with this type of return, it's just a scam.
228  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Any new exchanges lately? on: June 05, 2019, 01:13:39 AM
However, I can recommend BitStamp as a non-USA resident as they have fast withdrawals and very good liquidity. I am yet to use Huobi even as a non-USA user. Therefore, cannot comment  on them much.
Bitstamp is a great exchange for that yes, but I however wouldn't mess around with Huobi. Somehow Huobi and OKEx are closely related to each other and they also wash trade over 50% of their total volume on a daily basis.

Any exchange that wash trades in such an obvious manner should be avoided at all cost. Also make sure to avoid an exchange such as Bitfinex with all its withdrawal problems and continuous shady behavior.

I have used kraken, but the only deposit method for US residents is wire transfer, which gets pricey if your only looking for a few hundred at a time.
What is the fee rate per wire transfer?

My bank charges 45 per wire and then another 5 on the exchange side. Adds up quick.
229  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: June 04, 2019, 01:36:44 AM
Looking to start using bitfinex for lending again, how has the site been recently? Any issues with the site or reasons why it would be a bad idea to use them?

they're facing some pretty scary legal issues and were technically insolvent not long ago. they had $850 million seized by law enforcement agencies, then used a loan from tether to cover the shortfall. the NY attorney general obtained a court order against both companies. the USDOJ is also in the middle of a criminal probe of both companies.

so i would account for the legal risks when considering whether to loan there.
Bitfinex was able to raise a billion dollars that was presumably used to repay the loan to tether.

The NYAG action has more or less been won by Bitfinex -- they no longer have to produce documents to the NYAG, and the order obtained by the NYAG has been reduced to prohibit bitfinex and tether from conducting related party transactions for some number of months.

Thank you for the information, it seems like they would still be reliable to use for the time being, at least for small amounts.

Did you hear about eToRo I think you can buy bitcoin there with bank accounts or credit card. I don't know if they need KYC but most of the exchanges right now online need KYC verification.

KYC isn't a problem. Just have gotten banned from coinbase and Gemini in the past for selling on localbitcoins, so looking for some way I can still purchase coins.

Thank you very much for that new site, I will check them out.

can you withdraw coins from etoro now? i checked last year and you couldn't---it was like robinhood where you can only deposit fiat to back crypto trades and you couldn't withdraw coins.

bitflyer has a USA exchange now. that's one option: https://bitflyer.com/en-us/

you could also probably use kraken. not new, but they've got a good reputation and decent liquidity.

231  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is it possible a BTC client generate an address identical to another person's? on: June 03, 2019, 03:56:50 AM
I haven't seen that one infographic in awhile that does a good job explaining the power output of the sun over trillions of years, still has less of a chance of making a duplicate address.  Anyone have that saved?

First half under 54.5 pts @1.88 (I expect a slower tempo, fewer turnovers and a bunch of missed shots to start the game).

This one is good!
One down for you! two to go.

Edit: Warriors with 12 points lead and 5 minutes to, If they don't blow this then, I'm gonna be winning big tonight!
What a win mate, warriors covered the handicapped and win this giving you a blowout, what a shot taken by Iggy, even the refs helping the raptors warriors able to survived and snatched this one from the host team.

Congrats to everyone of us who believes that warriors will win this one back, good job..
That last shot by iggy did put the over 212.5 if those who took warriors to win and the over. I noticed sportsbet were changing the over score from 213.5 to 212.5 a couple of times before the game started with just a 0.5x odds difference. Undecided

Why thank you, I was down 6k in the last 3 weeks, so it's nice to get some of that back.  Let's let it continue!
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin appears on Excel, Microsoft implicitly admits Bitcoin is currency? on: June 03, 2019, 02:21:18 AM
Didn't Microsoft accept bitcoin as payment at one point? Doesn't that already show they consider it a currency?
235  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where do you think Bitcoin will be by the end of 2019? on: June 03, 2019, 12:59:10 AM
I have seen predictions anywhere from 30k to 1M, and I must say, that is just ridiculous. I think we will have another big pump, but it wont happen until after the next halving, probably a year after it. In the short term, I think we will have some pull back to capitulate, and probably have 2019 end a little lower than where it is today, but then rising again in 2020.

237  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: LocalBitcoins Cash-in-person trades removed? on: June 03, 2019, 12:21:04 AM
I know there have been crackdowns by the US government regarding money laundering, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they are afraid of eventual consequences on them and are just getting out in front of it. My current analysis of the legality is that it is highly illegal to sell bitcoins as a business in the US, and anyone attempting to do so should be very cautious.
In some cases, selling bitcoins for cash may be illegal in the US, but this wouldn’t make hosting ads for this illegal due to safe harbor laws. There are some ways selling bitcoins for cash would not break the law but I don’t want to be giving anyone anything that could be construed as blanket legal advice. You can also obtain various licenses and maintain specific records and be selling bitcoins for cash in large volumes completely legally.

I agree, with the proper paperwork it would be legal, but it would get very expensive very quickly for a single man operation. Back when  I sold, and over the course of 3 years sold more than 6 million dollars worth, it would have just been worth it to go down that route. Unfortunately, my supple of coins dried up at that point and I could not continue, but the point is that a very small group of people this would work for. I would imagine LBC is just getting out ahead and not wanting to get into legal trouble.
I am fairly certain that local bitcoins has safe harbor in the US so long as they are not considered a publisher under US law. They could give resources to traders to help them follow and comply with the law.

I don’t think the “online” traders will see things much differently in terms of the law.

I like trading face to face because my privacy is increased as there isn’t a paper trail. I am doing everything by the book so to speak including paying all my taxes, but I don’t like a lot of prying eyes knowing my business.

I am not sure what you mean by, "safe harbor"? Could you elaborate or point to what law your talking about?
238  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Any new exchanges lately? on: June 02, 2019, 09:26:36 PM
Are there any new exchanges lately that I can purchase bitcoin from a bank account with in the US besides coinbase or Gemini?

Did you hear about eToRo I think you can buy bitcoin there with bank accounts or credit card. I don't know if they need KYC but most of the exchanges right now online need KYC verification.

Alternatively, has anyone ever been banned from the 2 aforementioned sites and then been allowed to use them again?

I think if you are banned already in Coinbase you can not use them anymore. I don't know if you can start a new case from them or contact them through support to unbanned your account.

For Gemini, I don't have much idea about this because I never use them before.

KYC isn't a problem. Just have gotten banned from coinbase and Gemini in the past for selling on localbitcoins, so looking for some way I can still purchase coins.

Thank you very much for that new site, I will check them out.
239  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WoodCollector]Nine Public Coin Collection Completed on: June 02, 2019, 07:02:03 PM
Wow, I had forgotten all about good old WC. IIRC I was the first person to commission a piece from him. I probably still have his email address and could reach out to him for clues on these coins.

edit: do not forget the Bitcoin dildo he made either...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=864472.msg9602461#msg9602461

Lol how can anyone forget that. You definitely were the first, I reached out to a few people with the 3 or 4 bitcoin B's that he made but due to price I decided to just stick with completing the wooden coin collection. If you could throw an email out that would be pretty cool, I figured if anything he may have "Watched" his old thread with the tale laid out so I also posted a teaser linking to this more thorough thread.

I bet I couldn't even get .25BTC for my "hive" BTC

It's funny, I thought I would always forget about WC, but he never really escapes my mind.

I also commissioned a custom piece from him. A wall mount for a quarter collection, and I remember I paid 1 btc for it, but i agree with blazed, probably no chance i would even get 0.25 btc for it.
