1081  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: MSI Afterburner vs. Sapphire TriXX Q&A? Suggestions? on: May 13, 2013, 02:26:56 AM
I just use Trigone Remote Monitor.  It tells you everything, HDD temps, processor, everything.  It is pretty nice.

As far as cards overheating, I don't worry and more than I do with AB because I have the ability to monitor temps with either.
1082  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: PSA: Malta 7990s are NOT suitable for mining! on: May 12, 2013, 10:44:35 PM
They seriously make 2x 8 pin 7990 cards?  That's really cutting it close.

I've got a 3x 8 pin powercooler 7990 on (unpowered) risers running fine @ ~1.08MH/sec, haven't fined tuned it much.  2x would be very ugly

Haha the funny thing is that the "very ugly" 2x8pin 7990 malta gets higher hash rates than yours does.

Even at $160,000 it would only take 23 days to break even  Shocked

Wish I had the money...  Cry

I use TriXX.  Don't even have Sapphire cards but it is the best program IMO

Are you just buying them on Newegg and reselling them?
1086  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 4870x2 only using 62% of one core? on: May 12, 2013, 07:10:20 AM
Hey guys,
I had a couple 4870x2s lying around so I decided I would give em a try mining (I currently get free power from school so not concerned with how inefficient they are). Well I hooked one up, installed the proper drivers and sdk, and started up scrypt gui miner. When both gpus are active, I get 100% usage on gpu0 but only 62% usage on gpu1. Seperatly I can get 100% usage on either one, however once both are active, gpu1 throttles to 62%? additionally gpu0 isnt coming out of its power saving mode and so while its mining the clocks are stuck at 500/500 (should be 750/900) any idea why? Thanks

Disable ULPS (ultra low power setting)

1.Open regedit
2.Then select Computer>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet
3.C+F "enableulps"
4.Change every value that comes up to 0
5.Press F3 to go to the next value.  There will probably be a lot
6. Restart
1087  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Help getting my 7970 past the 660 Mhash/s barrier on: May 12, 2013, 06:05:23 AM
i have the same card model as your card and i cant pass 1080Mhz, (hashing speed 620Mhash/s Stable **GUIminer**), i can go to 1100 but it will crash within 72hours for sure. The reason is that Gigabyte Hard locked the card voltage to 1.175Volts and there is no way to change that voltage without hardware modification (changing a resistor). There is some threads about flashing the card Bios with the Ghz edition to modify the voltage but that will not change the voltage for real other than the software showing incorrect values. BecareFull DO NOT FLASH YOUR CARD WITH GHZ edition BIOS !!!

Also remember that Gigabyte Ghz edition model: GV-R797TO-3GD is the same card as your card exactly the only difference is the voltage which is set to 1.275, this higher voltage allow more overclocking to 1150Mhz. *YA MARKETING Sad*

Although i know Ghz edition can give me higher speed but i didn't buy it because that extra voltage will cause alot of heat issues and instability especially with 4 cards sitting on one closed case. And By the way 660Mhash/s is VERY GOOD !

i Highly Recommend that card for high stability ! Wink

I actually have successfully flashed the GHz version to my card and it worked.  It showed up at 1.256 and everything, and it was stable up to 1200Mhz.  I don't usually use that bios, but I leave a copy of it on my flash drive for whenever I want to use it.

1091  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 7990 MALTA FOR SALE - GIGABYTE 15BTC on: May 11, 2013, 04:32:02 PM
He is a joker. He proved in his own thread these aren't suitable for mining yet wants a 60% price premium for his idiocy.

I think everyone can agree that the price he is asking for this is ridiculous, but you can't really seem to let this whole thing go can you?
1092  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Got 18x6870 - Need Advice on MOBO/PSU/Risers on: May 11, 2013, 01:23:49 AM
Or you could use this: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/5637/cpa-167/Lian_Li_Dual_Power_Supply_Adapter_Cable.html

Doesn't matter really, as long as you have some way of powering the second PSU on when you turn the first one on.

i dont think you are buying what you think you are buying.

i rejected 6870s as replacements for 5850s

Well I guess we will just have to wait and see. Tracking number says I will get them on Monday.
I will post results.

I'll take bets on it.  This is a 5870
1095  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Got 18x6870 - Need Advice on MOBO/PSU/Risers on: May 10, 2013, 03:07:49 AM
Whaaaat how did you get an order in???

As far as your questions, 4gb of ram should be fine.  I have 6950's and they use 500mbs each.  That x 6 = 3gb which should give you a little left over for your operating system.

If you want to stick to one PSU, your looking at something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817494006
They actually have it on Bitcoinstore for a little cheaper + free shipping.  Just note that you will need to use 2 molex to 6pin adapters, because that psu only has 10 pcie connectors.

Motherboards, there are threads on here discussing good mining mobos+mobos that can hold 6 cards.  You might be able to find some good stuff in there.

yep if you give me .1btc Smiley

The only reason I will do this is to have closure for that "7990s suck for mining" thread.  Are you still gonna post it there or do I have to buy it from you and then post it there?
