541  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BitCoin faucets really worth the time? on: June 30, 2014, 08:35:16 PM
the faucets are only worth if you got like 50 - 200 active refs or more

when you click on your own they arent worth anything

You shouldn't work on the faucet, but you need to tell everybody the faucet is great and ask them to register using your ref link.
How ironic is that lol Cheesy

hahaha yeah Smiley))

but for some people the faucet is worth if they hit a big jackpot of around 0.3 or 0.03 btc:)

Wouldn't that be like hoping a $1000 falls into your lap?  It must be insanely unlikely a faucet would ever pay out more than $5.

You can sell here on the forums under the marketplace section if you use an escrow service (somebody in the middle who protects both parties).  If that seems cumbersome then just sell at an exchange and transfer to the bank.

One thing about security - keep it simple

Don't do steps you're not comfortable doing or you may end up killing your nestegg.

Don't use a 125 character password.  8 random words that you can memorize and spell is fine.
544  Other / Meta / Re: what is the benifit of total time logged in? on: June 27, 2014, 10:55:04 AM
It's a measure of how much inactivity your body has gotten since you joined this site  Wink

Otherwise serves no purpose.
545  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ideas for newbies to earn a little coin on: June 27, 2014, 10:53:59 AM
The single best thing I ever did with crypto was sell some jewelry I had that I didn't care for.  Put it all into BTC - when BTC was $17.

It would take me 50 years of faucets to earn the money now.
546  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IRS claims it has LOST two years' worth of emails from former official Lerner on: June 27, 2014, 10:48:56 AM
There's no point discussing the chances of it happening, it's just implausible.  So many IT engineers have commentated that it would take willful and concerted acts to seek out and destroy those emails.

Why kill them when you can inflict a lifetime of punishment if you know who they are.

I think society has lost the art of public humiliation. Hester Prynne!

I want to see 1, just 1 of the big 3 CBS NBC ABC make this the main story.  Sure the world is going to hell in Iraq but the US government just declared war on its citizens (economic war).
549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anything ever outperformed bitcoin returns? on: June 25, 2014, 11:28:02 AM
MSFT and AAPL stock didn't do too bad, but over a longer timeframe.

I'm sure some genetic company that finds a cure to breast cancer will do quite well in just 1 or 2 days.
550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jeff Garzik's Bitcoin Balance Revealed on: June 25, 2014, 11:17:46 AM
Wasn't his essentially the first Avalon?  I think he made 16BTC just on the first day!
551  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining difficulty slowing down over the next 3 months? on: June 25, 2014, 11:11:57 AM
Wow, so basically it's just like last year with Avalon out of the picture.  AsicMiner takes over the show with chips everywhere haha
552  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How do we solve the 51% problem, an open invitatiion for ideas and suggestions on: June 25, 2014, 11:10:01 AM
If you people would have listened to what I have been saying for the last year and not bought all those damn ASICs, this 51% thing probably wouldn't be a risk now.

YOUR greed put BTC in this situation!  My greed is just me trying to capitalize on a potental catastrophe. Grin

You do know that last year somebody could have had 51% of the network with just $30 million of GPU farm?  The rush to ASIC was to expand the power-base so that the potential attack from entities such as governments would not occur.  GHash.io's own farm is not close enough to 51%, but the idiotic public miners are pushing it there.  That happened even with GPUs - it was called Deepbit.

Right now a GH is about $1, so $30 million could buy 30PH/s which wold only be 1/5th of the hashrate.  So from a monetary perspective it is harder to do a 51% attack I believe.  But you can't fix stupid  Angry

maybe, the best options here is to push the adoption of this type of attack or to split the hashrate into entities...

coz, u cant beat "greed", u can  only manipulate them

R4v37, you just spammed 15 posts in the mining forum in a row. I know you want to get paid for the sig, but please limit your posts to something constructive.  The above suggestion is anything but.
553  Other / Off-topic / Re: Woman or machine? New robots look creepily human on: June 24, 2014, 11:30:31 AM
Their behavior and mannerisms might be spot on but they don't look anything at all like real humans.  Most stores have better mannequins than those.
554  Other / Off-topic / Re: 10 Signs He's Bad In Bed! on: June 24, 2014, 11:28:35 AM
From a woman's perspective - yeah hygiene most of the time will kill any chances.  Guys who don't brush their teeth (everybody can have bad breath now and then but you can't have plague all over your teeth), horrible body odor, dirty clothes...such a turn off.
555  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fuck Summer! on: June 24, 2014, 11:25:49 AM
I wonder how many people replying in this thread stating they like summer live in a location where summer could actually be deadly?  Admittedly I love winter but here in Southern California we had 1 day with 97F this past winter.  The coldest it got was 34F overnight low - not even freezing.

About 100 miles from me is Death Valley which has the hottest recorded temps on Earth.

For those who claim they like summer, what kind of summer are you talking about?

I grew up in Huntington Beach…Been to Death Valley a bunch of times. Dumont Dunes getting crazy in the sand. I used to haul a lot of military equipment in and around there. i personally like summer and I have been to every corner of the USA during summer..Got to try Southern Florida when the humidity is 9000% its like being in a sauna…..all the time.

HB has great summer weather…never over 95 and never under 50..perfect.

Ooh another SoCal native!  Yeah we all wish we could be at the beach, then summer wouldn't really be summer.  As you go further inland it just gets very hot, dry but hot.  I was baking in Yorba Linda today, nxt week it's going to be in the high 90s!
556  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Running multiple rockminers on: June 24, 2014, 11:21:39 AM
It also depends on how much cabling and what kind of PSUs you will be using.  Not a big deal with modular but non-modular smaller ones equals cable mess.
557  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Generator? on: June 24, 2014, 11:20:07 AM
You mean it wont be the equivalent of a money tree?  My dreams are shattered, I hate you smoothie!

The only people who fall for this are those who can't read.
558  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.io GHS Bubble ? on: June 23, 2014, 01:10:27 PM
I was mining on the ghash.io site for a while do to its good statistics and data, then buying ghs with the BTC I earned to give more more mining power while i sat on them, rather than leaving them in a wallet. Didn't make me much, but it was stil worth it

I'm not sure why you say it was worth it when you would have earned more if you didn't reinvest into their business model.
559  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Searching for Honest Ethical Bitcoin and Alt Coin Miners. on: June 23, 2014, 01:08:20 PM
Oddly the non-professional miners are likely to be the most ethical and honest ones.  But miners aren't really the ones with ethical issues, it's usually the pools and the hardware vendors who concentrate the mining power that have to be questioned.
560  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: June 20, 2014, 08:24:30 AM
Other pools just need to step up their game and offer merged mining of atleast NMC for 0% fee.

As of today, gh.io is one of the best pools and therefore have the most miners.

p2pool is always nice too nad it supports the basic bitcoin idea, by further decentralizing the network.

You do realize that in the top 7 pools the majority have been doing merged mining before Ghash.IO/CEX.IO even existed right?
