101  Economy / Speculation / Re: Resistance and Support of BTC everyday. on: July 05, 2021, 04:01:20 PM
looks like you are just posting random numbers without any reason behind them.
the main support and resistance that are actually strong are at $30k and $40k and price will remain in this tight region until it goes above $40k.
meanwhile the short term supports and resistances are not at all strong and they are unpredictable because the market is mostly emotional right now and the sideway market is not predictable. specially when the volume is this low.
102  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Who is paying very very large fees when not needed and why? on: July 05, 2021, 01:21:18 PM
I can assume that among those who pay groundlessly big fee for their transactions are  those people who sporadically  use coinb.in This wallet  requires some preliminary knowledge on the setting correct change address/es and amount of BTC to be send there. If all of that were not set properly all transaction change would go to  miners as their reward.

coinb.in is more like a web tool than a bitcoin wallet though and it demands a certain level of advanced users who pay more attention to what they pay as fee in their transactions. besides i don't think that many people are using this tool to begin with.
103  Economy / Speculation / Re: How come BTC is still so cheap? on: July 01, 2021, 04:30:36 PM
to be honest with you i am also starting to have the same question myself. although i could justify it so far by saying that due to the massive drop of 50% the bitcoin investors are super scared right now and this fear lasted for 2 months but it should already be enough fear. i mean how much longer are people going to fear the drop? price should start rising up and go back to normal $50k+ prices already.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you pay with Bitcoin whenever you're able to? on: July 01, 2021, 03:53:17 PM
yes but it depends on the amount of bitcoin what i'm trying to buy is going to cost. for example if i go to the grocery store and see they accept bitcoin then i would definitely pay with bitcoin but if it wanted to buy a house or a car then i won't do it, not just because i don't have enough bitcoin for it but also because even if i did it would be a big chunk of my bitcoin balance which i won't be comfortable with spending.
105  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC surged to $36k what do you think of BTC value this July ? on: July 01, 2021, 03:38:30 PM
For July I suspect Bitcoin will continue ranging at the bottom of the market in the $30,000s. I don't expect it to break out above $40k until sometime in August.

but bitcoin has been in $30k price level ever since May which is almost 1.5 months. i think it is enough time for such a low price level and price should start rising up now specially since the accumulation looks to be finished if we check how the volume has decreased recently.
106  Economy / Speculation / Re: Germany is about to allow legally the funds to invest in crypto, from July 1st on: July 01, 2021, 03:25:14 PM
most important of all is that this is a start. we can't expect the mass adoption to happen in one day. it has to be slow and start by little moves like this. this is also giving people a lot of confidence for investing in bitcoin since the government is now practically approving bitcoin's legitimacy as an investment so a lot of people who had believed the FUD until now will learn the truth and will look to invest in bitcoin.
107  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How do crypto payment gateways work? on: July 01, 2021, 03:04:11 PM
you start by using something called "deterministic wallet" which is where you have two master keys, one is your master private key and another is your master public key. you obviously keep the first one offline and in a secure place and the second online on your server where it derives new (public) keys for each payment and keeps track of everything. if your server gets hacked it is only a privacy issue but you won't lose money.

each time a user purchases something your server automatically generates a new address and shows it to that user then keeps track of that "address" in the background.
for example if it is purchase 75364 it derives the 75364th address from that master public key and shows it to the user.
you no longer care who pays, as long as you receive the payment in that address you release the product.
for next purchase by another user you generate 75365th address.
this way each user has their own "invoice" and your server can automatically create and keep track of all of them.

and there is virtually no limit on how many of these you can create. you go from #0 to #1,099,511,627,527 then when you run out you simply go to your cold storage (master private key) and generate the next master public key for the next account.
for example m/44'/0'/0'/0... then m/44'/0'/1'/0 then m/44'/0'/2'/0

the key derivation scheme explained above is known as BIP32.
108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's game plan on: June 30, 2021, 04:56:36 PM
The last time the price was 30k and there was no sign of China doing anything was in January,
in January price was coming down from $42k.

Quote
at that time we were flat at 147.46 EH/s, 149.05 EH/s, 153.41 EH/s for a month,
it wasn't flat in January. the price went from
$28700 to $42000 to $28800 to $38900
and hashrate went from
137 to 155 to 144 to 153

Quote
Also, 10%? Nope.
maybe my calculations were off but it definitely is not a 80% drop

No. I believe the poster is referring to aggregate data obtained through the mining pools. From the locations of the IP, you can sample and determine the range of miners that are located within China.
so you are telling me that there was a dumb mining pool out there that betrayed its users and revealed their IP addresses?
109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's game plan on: June 30, 2021, 03:20:08 PM
Roughly 65% of bitcoin mining was done in China,
you are thinking of mining pools that have the name of a Chinese company attached like Bitmain. but pools are just pools not the actual hashrate.

Quote
It isn't China fud.
and it looks like somewhere between 80%-100% of that hashrate is now gone, thus dropping the global hashrate by about 50%-60%.
it IS China FUD when you say this.
if 80%-100% of hashrate had gone bitcoin network would have come to an almost halt with blockchain not being able to grow anymore.

and for your information hashrate when price was $30k last time was 100 exa hash and today that price is a little higher than $30k it is 90 exa hash (approximately) so that is a 10% drop not 80%-100% as you said.
110  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there really a lot of money to be made trading bitcoin? on: June 30, 2021, 03:07:40 PM
Bitcoin yesterday as scheduled up to break,
you are completely hopeless in any market and in trading in general if you think this way!
markets aren't some preplanned things where there is a schedule to rise and another for drop.

Quote
If the top market breaks through to stabilize 37000 position, the price is expected to further march to 38000 line,
bitcoin market has proven time and time again that the major resistances to break is usually the round numbers. in this case it is $40k and it was tested a couple of times so it remains the strong resistance to look for. reaching any other price is not significant at all.

Ethereum back to step on the 1700 line, the recent market due to the inflow of funds,
there is in no inflow of funds here. the funds are pumping other smaller altcoins while big coins like ETH are bleeding.
111  Economy / Economics / Re: The trend of prices is still upward, any hope for downward? on: June 30, 2021, 02:16:08 PM
The fact that the crypto prices boomed during the pandemic is one of the responses to the crisis.
But Pump and dump schemes are present due to the high demand, so I think the market decline is only short-term.

it has just been bitcoin that has been rising in price. the altcoins are still pump and dumping so they always end up at a lower price because their dump is inevitable.
it wasn't just during pandemic though, bitcoin has been rising ever since 2019. it is currently up 993% so far!
112  Economy / Economics / Re: Deutsche Bank issues dire economic warning for America on: June 30, 2021, 02:11:15 PM
Some experts and analysts claim the economic crisis of 2008 was caused by recession in the united states.

in my opinion the only reason why the recession was worldwide was because the same corruption at the heart of economy with banks at its head existed in other countries. it is not because America is #1 it is because all those other countries were copying their mistakes so they should have surely followed US down.

more interesting is that there were other countries during 2007 to 2012 that weren't even affected by the corruption and the resulting recession simply because their economy and banking system wasn't a copy of US and either didn't have the corruption or had a different kind of corruption: China, Japan, Brazil, Iran, India, Russia, Peru and Australia are some of the countries that were mostly unaffected.
113  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC surged to $36k what do you think of BTC value this July ? on: June 30, 2021, 01:47:29 PM
you can't call this a "surge" to $36k, it was definitely a very slow rise to $36k almost a crawl which is not a bad thing because this type of rise specially when it comes after a lot of FUD and dumping shows that there is still a lot of dumping to push the price down but the price is resisting all that and goes against it to rise up.

i think July is going to be a good month. historically it has always been a month that price rises and right now the market is too ready for a big rise.
114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi’s Bitcoin whitepaper to be removed from Bitcoin.org? on: June 29, 2021, 02:49:33 PM
I'm still confused... if court has accepted that he's "Satoshi Nakamoto" or only his claim over whitepaper. What does this claim really mean?

no the court didn't accept he is Satoshi Nakamoto. the scammer went to court and made a claim, the court set a date and asked the other party (cobra) to attend. they didn't attend so automatically the court ruled in favor of the scammer.

this only means that cobra wanted to protect their privacy and didn't want to give the scammer the satisfaction of doxing them.
115  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor and middle class as a mentality on: June 29, 2021, 01:33:11 PM
in my experience we can't categorize people like this based on their class and expect them to remain in that class just because they had or didn't have certain opportunities or the education to better themselves.

i have seen people from all groups go the other direction, for example rich kids who had zero education even though they had the privilege and ended up poor and poor kids who became so much more successful than anyone with better education and resources.

besides, the education is not just what you learn in schools. it is mostly what you learn from your life. you also don't need to see success to learn how to become successful, you can see failure and learn from those mistakes to not make them yourself.
116  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's price will increase on: June 29, 2021, 01:16:13 PM
price is already starting to increase. what people seem to forget these days is that testing the strong bottom and failing to break it multiple times is also a very strong signal for the bull market to resume again.
when we also have the huge FUD spam on the internet from different sources including the government and banks BUT price doesn't want to go down, this is another big positive sign of the bull market wanting to resume.
117  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto Winter Is Coming, Warns Experts on: June 27, 2021, 03:45:04 PM
these are the same guys who were saying that bitcoin will never go above $1000 not so long ago and right before price shoot up to the moon that year.

in fact whenever we see the most corrupt banksters are acting scared and are talking about some sort of bitcoin doomsday that is a good buying signal telling us that they know something that has made them this scared.
118  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Central Banks on: June 27, 2021, 03:08:01 PM
every month there is always a newbie with no education and knowledge of the cryptocurrency technology that comes along and starts praising altcoins that anybody else already knows are terrible projects with lots of flaws and no chance in the real world. they always think just because there is a centralized rich company that fully controls a shitcoin then this shitcoin can succeed. but they forget that when it comes to centralization they are not even at the same level as bitcoin. even if there is any competition it is between them and the government issued shitcoins in the future.
in other words in a couple of years when banks and governments start releasing their centralized altcoins, all these shitcoins like ETH, BNB, USDT, ... die in an instant. most probably their first strke is going to be banning all these altcoins.

at the same time since bitcoin is the only decentralized currency that nobody can ban, censor or prevent from being adopted it will continue growing and continue acting as a global currency.
119  Economy / Speculation / Re: Repeating the price cycle every 4 years on: June 27, 2021, 02:37:09 PM
I don't believe the IMF, World Bank, G7 nations will allow BTC to achieve $1M to easily. Challenges from governments will be bigger with BTC new all time highs.

because bitcoin is decentralized it doesn't need anyone's permission to reach a certain price. if there is enough demand for it then it will be reached.
you should also know that people were saying the same thing in each cycle for the ATH of that cycle. you'd be surprised to see someone once made the same claim as you but about $1.
120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Restoring wallet from seed on: June 27, 2021, 02:22:10 PM
you should post on the same topic you had started before.
The what looks like a "web address" to me is the "phrase" "string of words separated by a slash / user/home/electrum/wallet/....this I thought was the seed phrase. Is that the extended Phrase Charles-Tim was speaking of?
from your post history it seems like he was talking about a "passphrase" which you use to extend the words you already have. what you posted looks like a directory where the electrum wallet files are stored which has nothing to do with that.

Quote
Either way, it sounds like I am good to go with just the seed to restore my wallet. Yeah, I just want to make sure everything is correct, who wants to lose money unnecessarily, any amount.
Thanks you!
you won't lose your money as long as you are using the real electrum wallet to restore. to know if it is real you must go to the real website which is electrum.org and also make sure to verify the signature of electrum file before installing it.
