61  Economy / Economics / Re: Strange massive Btc transfer in block 690755 on: July 15, 2021, 04:01:09 PM
there is nothing strange about big amounts of bitcoin moving around. there is also nothing strange about very old coins moving. they aren't common but they do happen every now and then. you can go to a block explorer such as blockchair.com and sort the transactions based on their amount to see how common they actually are.

the old coins are also not all belong to Satoshi even though a lot of guessors have guessed it is Satoshi's because they were too lazy to investigate and just guessed it because it was old!
62  Economy / Speculation / Re: David Gokhshtein: Bitcoin Price Will Reach $80K on: July 15, 2021, 03:14:04 PM
$80K? That's pennies. BTC should be in the $xxx, xxx range. Great times waiting ahead, HODL, avoid the FUD and enjoy the ride folks!

the low price predictions is the newbie mentality who have zoomed in the charts so much so that they can not see the bigger picture. it is funny that they were predicting $100k+ last time price was $30k just because it was on the rise but now that price hasn't been rising for a short time they are bringing their prediction down and some even reversed it and are predicting a bigger dump!!!

it shows how random some of these so called "predictions" are.
63  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to redeem casacius using Electrum wallet on: July 15, 2021, 02:52:11 PM
That's a whole lot riskier than just redeeming the coins. Besides, from what I've seen, there's less interest since Bitcoin got so expensive. Who's going to spend a million bucks on a collectible nowadays?

i honestly have never checked the markets to know the details, i just know it exists. besides there are many different types of casacius coins with different balances from 0.1BTC to 1000BTC (this last one is made of gold so the coin itself is worth something).
the smalelst one which is 0.1BTC has a raw value of $3280 at the current price. there is a lot to go to reach a million Roll Eyes
64  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to redeem casacius using Electrum wallet on: July 15, 2021, 02:31:30 PM
i just want to add that the point of physical bitcoins such as casacius coins is to be held and traded intact as collectibles not to be redeemed. you can even sell them for slightly more than their actual balance's worth to those who want to collect such rare objects.
65  Economy / Economics / Re: Yahoo Finance, US and UK Inflation Contribute to Cryptocurrency Sell-off on: July 14, 2021, 02:56:34 PM
actually inflation is one of the reasons why people are buying the only deflationary currency in the world that is bitcoin. and we have not been having any sell-offs of bitcoin lately, only accumulation between $32k and $35k.

the altcoins are also pumping these days since bitcoin price is stable. of course they got dumped so hard when bitcoin pr ice dropped and they also have their natural ever dumping state but during times like this they get pumped.

not to mention that it is absurd to suggest that 5% bitcoin drop is related to anything at all because that is the regular bitcoin market behavior on day to day basis. next week it will go 5% up and the week after that it will come down 5% (same $32k and $35k again and again). until in near future it will shoot to $70k.
66  Economy / Speculation / Re: David Gokhshtein: Bitcoin Price Will Reach $80K on: July 14, 2021, 02:39:23 PM
to be honest David Gokhstein looks to me like the classic shitcoin bagholder who thinks just because some shitcoin has a lower price it must have a good future. but he forgets that the shitcoins have been around for many years and have been dumping to reach these low prices.
his tweets are also showing the bags he is holding, it is more obvious when he also encourages others to buy those shitcoins (like XRP, ETH, DGB, etc.) a classic shitcoin pump and dumper mentality.

expect to see more people like Gokhstein and Musk in cryptospace as bitcoin price keeps going up.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is cryptocurrency bad for the environment? on: July 14, 2021, 02:34:04 PM
something important that is always overlooked when people talk about energy consumption and environment is that the amount of energy consumed is not important at all, WHAT that energy is being used FOR is important.

when we have a very useful decentralized currency that is working 24/7 for the whole world, then the amount of energy that it takes to secure this network is negligible no matter how much it is.
at the same time when we have thousands of useless altcoins (that is the cryptocurrencies) that have no purpose and are only pumped and dumped then even a single electron being spent for them is wasteful.

to answer the main question here, yes altcoins are bad for environment.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptophobia, causes, effects and solution. on: July 14, 2021, 02:13:10 PM
Lol this is ridiculous. Someone who simply isn't interested in diving deep into a certain asset or industry doesn't necessarily mean they have a phobia. They're simply just, you know, uninterested!

or they are too lazy.
i have known many people who want to make a lot of money, in a short time and they also don't want to make any efforts at all. it makes no sense to normal people but these people exist.
obviously when someone who doesn't even know what they are buying hears a FUD they naturally panic.

this isn't cryptocurrency related either. i recently saw this in stock market from newbies who thought they could become rich overnight if they bought any stock just because they had seen someone else make profit and surely enough as stocks dumped they went bankrupt!
69  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: July 14, 2021, 12:29:17 PM
~
Long-term holders should have sold Bitcoin when the price was above $50000 or $60000,
of course holders would also know when to sell it, or maybe 50% of the assets they have sold,
and that's a strategy that we should follow, if a DIP does occur. we have to do accumulation,
otherwise it is something to regret.
Depending on how long they have been hodling or how much they were hodling at that time then probably they can consider selling at that point look at me, I have sold at around the 40k point and then the prices pumped to 60k and I don't have a lot of money to buy back so I just have to save accumulate again. If I didn't have that need back then to sell, I would've probably got more profit but prioritize things that needs to be finished first.

hodlers don't have to do anything, least of which selling their bitcoins! that is absurd to suggest otherwise just because price was above an arbitrary number.
there are a lot of people who don't trust exchanges so they will never deposit anything there. that means when there is a short term panic sell they also don't participate. instead they hold and enjoy their profit in long term.

for example we had a drop from $6k to $3k and those who were hodling are enjoying the 10x profit now that price is $30k regardless of the rest.
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I rather stay hungry than sell my Bitcoin on: July 13, 2021, 04:00:15 PM
the constant dip we have been experiencing for a while.

there hasn't been any dips for weeks. price just keeps going to $32k and comes back up to $34k. this is not called "constant dip".

as for selling, you always want to sell before the drop (meaning in $50k range) not after the drop ended and inside the dip.
it is not a bad idea to sell some bitcoin but timing is everything. for example selling in $30k range makes no sense!
71  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for advice: gifting a paper wallet on: July 13, 2021, 02:57:55 PM
Edit: To fund the wallet, just scan the QRCode or paste the public address in your personal wallet and send $10 in btc to it. Very easy to use.

keep in mind that you should always do a little test to avoid having mistakes. for example in this picture (which would be the printed paper wallet) both QR codes are the private key.
if you were relying only on QR code and for example accidentally printed the address only you'd be screwed.
72  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you miss buying games on Steam by paying with bitcoin? on: July 13, 2021, 02:48:43 PM
It was during when the network has been congested and steam didn't liked it.  Undecided

that was the main reason but it was also because of all the attacks against bitcoin.
regular users may not think about it specially when they already knew the coins that were attacking bitcoin were shitcoins (like bcash, dash, ripple,...) but with all the misinformation they were spreading and all the split risks due to bcash attacks it scared many businesses who don't want the headache of a payment method that is new and not that many use it.
73  Economy / Economics / Re: Can cryptocurrencies replace fiat currencies on: July 13, 2021, 02:29:12 PM
what people who keep asking this question forget is that society relies on centralization so when they ask if bitcoin* can replace fiat they are actually asking if the society can make a huge change which is not going to be possible anytime soon. maybe in another 20 to 40 years but certainly not easy or soon.
bitcoin is not meant to replace fiat either it was created to only offer the freedom to those who use it.

* cryptocurrency can not because all altcoins are shitcoins.
74  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for advice: gifting a paper wallet on: July 13, 2021, 01:53:17 PM
Also, i'd suggest playing with this on the testnet first, don't lock funds before you've made yourself familiar with how this works Smiley

it is near impossible to use coinb.in site for testnet sadly. i tried it recently and it either kept going back to main-net or failed to get the transaction history to build the transaction.
75  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ratio of supply on exchanges hits 6 months low on: July 13, 2021, 01:43:39 PM
Investors aren't like years before where they panic sell straight away when prices go down. The market has matured significantly

we hope for this part but i don't think that bitcoin market is there yet. it was evident from the recent 50% drop from $60k that there are still a lot of panic sellers who run away at the first sight of FUD and they also believe everything they are told.
the reason why price isn't going any lower is because those panic sellers haven't bought back so there is nobody left to manipulate into selling.
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why did Satoshi use GB English and international English ? on: July 11, 2021, 06:58:54 PM
- Jgarzik's optimisation to speed up the initial block download a little

do you have any other example where Satoshi uses "s" instead of "z" because this is the only single example you posted with an "s" and it looks like change-log which might have been written by someone else (like Garzik) and copied here.
even still, one example is hardly proof because it may have been autocorrect tool setting one variation over the other.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Better than "GOLD" for criminals, BTC is easier to steal; Easier to scam; on: July 11, 2021, 06:52:04 PM
that's nonsense. bitcoin is the hardest to steal. if people leave their door open and put a welcome sign for thieves on their doorstep that  doesn't mean the lock they were using was easy to break, that means those people were idiots.
of course considering your post history filled with trolling and FUD i am not surprised you created yet another low quality topic which apparently is allowed in this forum Cheesy
78  Economy / Economics / Re: How long will it take for CBDCs to become a reality? on: July 11, 2021, 02:03:08 PM
i think a much more interesting question would be how long will the CBDCs survive for?

there has already been a couple of them created and some are actively being worked on. and we know that those who were released (like Petrol) are massively ignored by people.
like any centralized altcoins they will have a lifespan and they will run out of air. some will be hyped more and last more of course but i think the bigger the country's economy and the bigger the hype the more it can survive. but in my opinion their doom is practically guaranteed.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Versus Ethereum Cryptocurrency Market Share on: July 11, 2021, 01:45:30 PM
in the end Ethereum still has an unlimited supply and it no longer has the ICO craze of 2017 to get super pumps like those days. it is also already over pumped so there is not much room left for it to be pumped any more.
Vitalik has been working hard day and night to pump ETH and he hasn't been able to pump it yet. they even brought the ICO scam back under another name called DEFI but that scheme also failed to pump it that much.

the only reason why ETH still has a huge market share (cap %) is becaue of its unlimited supply. otherwise if it were a normal altcoin with normal supply it whould have been at the bottom of the list.
80  Economy / Speculation / Re: Overview of the Market on: July 11, 2021, 01:28:15 PM
the range in which bitcoin goes up and down has been shrinking drastically over the past couple of days. it is not between $33k and $35k which is usually less than 5% and decreasing.
this is a good sign because over this same period there has been a ton of very large dumps and as we can see the price doesn't want to make any move whatsoever.
if things continue like this and the support holds we can expect a big rise next week.
