141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's volatility is a non-issue on: September 27, 2018, 08:25:42 PM
I actually think the volatility is great for the future of Bitcoin (to an extent). For now, people will buy in thinking that their investment will multiply at some point in the future (which it probably will), whilst all of those that bought in and ended up seeing a loss will hold for a long time until they eventually make a profit. Over time this leads to a large number of holders and very few sellers, hence increasing the value further due to supply and demand.
142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN USAGE EXPERIMENT on: September 27, 2018, 08:22:27 PM
Do you really think the US would run such a ridiculously large and expensive 'study'... What would be the benefit to it? Why would they let it get so large, and why would they have such hostile regulations against it if that's the case? Do you even think before you make such ridiculous suggestions? Bitcoin is simply an idea that has grown to unexpectedly huge heights, and is now taking on more utility than anybody expected.
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HAS BITCOIN REALLY STOOD THE TEST OF TIME? on: September 27, 2018, 08:21:05 PM
Cryptocurrency has been around for barely a decade, we are nowhere near close to even seeing Bitcoin be tested. Compared to most industries, blockchain and cryptocurrency are practically brand new, and still have a lot of growth ahead of them. There will be difficult times ahead for sure, but until Bitcoin is really tested, we can't see how strong it really is.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trying to survive on: September 25, 2018, 03:46:30 PM
That's he issue, this market isn't made for everybody, the weak hands will sell out and crash the market for everybody else, whilst ensuring that both they and everyone lose money. These people will then find it difficult to get back in due to the negative associations they now have because they sold out at a loss, when likely they could have just held a bit longer to make a profit. We don't need these people in crypto, let them all die out so we can grow with strength.
145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Cryptocurrency Memories. on: September 25, 2018, 03:44:37 PM
I knew about cryptocurrencies since around early 2015, but I did not have the funds to become involved until around a year later after I registered on this forum. However, I stupidly gambled the vast majority of all my crypto away on a variety of dice sites, though there was some fun times included too, like being rained on for several hundred dollars at times. My fondest memory is probably buying XRP before it exploded in value, but I held it too long and it crashed again, FML.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: KYC scams on: September 25, 2018, 03:42:23 PM
Simple don't provide your KYC to any website you feel is less than trustworthy, typically if the team themselves are public facing and can hence be held accountable for their actions, then they will be less included to take advantage of your KYC information. That being said, it is completely possible that a rogue agent within any organization can siphon off KYC data and begin selling it on the dark web for example, but this can be said with literally any company, the odds just decrease with the size of the company.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dominance of BTC on: September 25, 2018, 03:39:21 PM
I don't think BTC needs to maintain a dominance of over 50% to be successful, last year it was down to just over 30% and we couldn't say it was less successful. The only true measure of success is the number of active users, this matters far more than dominance, market cap and even trade volume as these are all poor indicators of usage.
148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For those, who wait BTC to "skyrocket" again. on: September 25, 2018, 03:37:23 PM
Wow, thanks for sharing the latest news, only half a year old. There is no evidence that Bitcoin is manipulated any more than other markets, after all, where there is an opportunity for manipulation, people will surely exploit it. Also, the website is known for extreme clickbaiting, inflating the truth and outright fabricating stories. Believe it when it's proven, not when it is rumored.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Art Exhibition in Paris to Celebrate Bitcoin’s Tenth Birthday on: September 24, 2018, 10:42:47 AM
So another money grab where people attempt to sell their ridiculous cryptocurrency art for exorbitant prices all in the name of promoting the development of blockchain technology? Great. I don't believe that events like this actually do much to promote blockchain, as they show off all the worst aspects of it. Why not celebrate it as a technical achievement, rather than glorifying it with BS art?
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can lightning network help Bitcoin? on: September 24, 2018, 10:36:55 AM
Apart from essential solving the scaling and fee problem, lightning also makes it possible for users to transact in Bitcoin offline, ensuring that smaller merchants and those in less economically developed countries have access to the technology. It also massively incentivizes merchants,  retailers and corporations to get involved as the barrier to entry is now much lower.
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forget Cryptocurrency. We Need To Talk More About Blockchain on: September 24, 2018, 10:35:34 AM
Glad to see more people realizing the truth. Blockchain is the real prize here, not cryptocurrency, this is just one small part of the true power of blockchain. People are now starting to realize that blockchains have potential in pretty much every industry, ranging from industrial applications to even more novel uses in file sharing and communication. There is so much room for growth it is incredible, we have only just scratched the surface with cryptocurrencies!
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto like a fulltime job on: September 24, 2018, 10:33:59 AM
Finding a full-time crypto job is not that difficult, the only thing you have to be cautious of is getting scammed, as there are a lot of projects out there that promise the world, and then end up paying peanuts, or nothing at all. Don't enter into any major work without a contractual agreement as that is just asking to be ripped off. Also, make sure you understand exactly the risks you are getting into, taking cryptocurrency as salary can be great in a bull run, but not so much in a market like this.
153  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Always keep fiat while holding on: September 24, 2018, 10:30:40 AM
It's less easy to convert your crypto to fiat than it should be, this is usually associated with heavy fees, e.g. shapeshift. I find that it's best to just convert your cryptocurrencies between stable coins during the bad times, that way you are at least protected against volatility. Some stablecoins are also tied to an asset value such as fine wine, gold or oil, so you don't necessarily miss out on a profit in doing so either.
154  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The best way to profit in cryptocurrency on: September 24, 2018, 10:26:46 AM
Definitely not investing in ICOs, unless you really do your homework or are an institutional investor. Most ICOs don't generate a return on your investment so best to stay away if you are a noob. I personally think the best way to profit is by trading FUD and FOMO, this is the only way to guarantee that you are safe, though of course it is unlikely you will win out every time.
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Survey Shows 80% Of Americans Have Heard Of Bitcoin on: September 24, 2018, 10:24:58 AM
I wish the survey would have checked what percentage of Americans have actually used Bitcoin, I guess the number of would be massively low, probably less than 1%. That's the statistic that really matters, who cares how many people have heard about something, everybody has heard of cocaine but very few people use it.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: September 30th ETF decision + when to buy on: September 24, 2018, 10:20:35 AM
It is very unlikely that ETFs will be accepted on September 30th due to the very poor market conditions that have surrounded the ETF decisions in the past. The SEC don't want to approve anything that can be so extremely volatile as they are not looking to suffer the burden of causing so many people to enter a market where they could possibly lose their money. The volatility issue must be resolved before a BTC ETF will be approved IMO.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coin do you HOLD in 2018? on: September 23, 2018, 09:10:47 PM
Personally I am looking to buy some Loom and Enjin coins, just waiting until they fall below a critical threshold then my order will be filled. I think that these have massive prospects for the future and I'm pretty sure we are going to see great things from the both of them. It's going to take a fair amount of time to achieve, but I believe by 2020 both of these will be top 20 caps.
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you get your cryptocurrency news? on: September 23, 2018, 09:09:25 PM
Personally I join a lot of cryptocurrency groups on Telegram and wait for messages, usually you will see a large influx of messages about a certain subject if it is important, that way you can accurately tell how the market is responding directly and get a feel of the FUD/FOMO associated with blockchain news.
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is better than Bitcoin? on: September 23, 2018, 09:08:34 PM
From an investor's point of view, I think that bitcoin has very significant advantages over the ethereum coin. So the speed with which the price of the coin decreases, the ethereum is very alarming.

Why is that? Bitcoin is super 1-dimensional, if it's utility value as a currency doesn't improve, its price does not change. Whereas Ethereum can improve in several different dimensions, e.g. scaling, crypto utility, smart contracts, ICO tokens etc. Bitcoin has fewer routes to grow, Ethereum has a lot.
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Five Reasons to Impact Bitcoin Prices on: September 23, 2018, 09:07:02 PM
There's no point looking any further into the market than whatever is causing FUD or FOMO, if the reasons behind the FUD are significant, then sell, similar is the case for FOMO. Technical analysis, charting and sentiment analysis are all useless when the market is literally controlled by buyer fear and remorse.
