How did u crack it? With pliers?
I wouldn't mind seeing a cracking video. monkeynuts actually cracked my Gold Titan for me to go back for a second round of grading at ANACS. He used some grips, with the slab inside a plastic bag to prevent shattered plastic getting everywhere. Crack each corner bit by bit, and slowly prised the slab apart. As Z says, I used locking grips set at just less than the slab. Emphasis on crack rather than destroy. Less is more. Many small steps rather than one giant leap. Corners, then middles. https://www.cromwell.co.uk/shop/hand-tools/locking-clamps-and-wrenches/255mm-10%22-sheet-plier-grip-wrench/p/SEN5587300K?utm_campaign=pla+-+&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping-pla&utm_keyword=SEN5587300K&istCompanyId=6aa6787b-063e-4414-802d-129f235df603&istItemId=aqrxlmpxl&istBid=tztxOther options I have read about are in a bench vice and then use a hacksaw (take the edges off, you can get away with 3). One of those small electric 'rotary tools' would also do the trick. Its only the very edges that get bound by the resin If your gonna do it, always practice with a low value slabbed coin first !! There is always risk associated. Reward has to be clear before doing it, generally an older graded coin. CGS slabs are far more stubborn than ANACS (far more brittle, so more unpredictable).

I have also seen this on a few
I have only seen on a slabbed coin. And only with a series 3 holo silver coin. I would love to hear from anyone seeing this on none slabbed coins, or none silver coins
I cracked one of those slabs for inspection. It would appear that once present, that it's permanent, ie it wouldn't wipe off.
Would love to hear an explaination

Economy / Collectibles / Re: [POLL][DISC] Coins by Casascius etc. Do added "dust" transactions affect value?
|
on: July 11, 2016, 07:43:20 PM

As no coin can be protected from dust we as a community cannot allow dust to negatively affect the value
So long as the coin is intact, and the original manufacturer funding happened, then that's all that should matter
Without that stance, the next step is targeted dusting, with the aim of reducing a fellow collectors coin value, and indirectly increasinv the value of their own. That's not what we are all about
What will adversely affect a value is deliberate and considerable overfunding. Adding 5 btc to a coin won't result in a coin worth 5 BTC more.
Random satoshis don't matter one bit

I am sure it was previously stated that the book would only be sold until the halving
I also am sure that it was stated that not all 5000 books had been printed yet, indeed far from it, and that 5000 was the absolute max that would be done. So inference is that only as many books would be printed, as had indeed been sold
I struggle to see how it can be justified to base the raffle on anything other than actual books sold pre halving. Anything else has the appearance of shifting the goal posts
Will the mystery lower number for the raffle be the real number of books sold pre halving ?

What do you want next ?
Some 2012 / 2013 brass as a normal aution ?
Or 1 of the 3 bigger ticket reverse auctions 1. An MS68 s2 silver half 2. An MS70 set of 4 s3 silver coins. 0.1, 0.5. 1.0 silver, 1.0 silver and gold 3. An MS68 error coin
The 70 set seems to be getting some attention, as does the s2 silver half
I will be steered by demand

Kialara Labyrinths and Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins have been sold. A Ravenbit Satoshi coin, Ravenbit Copper graded, and Coinographic 1LTC graded have been added. What was the sale price for Collectors Signature Edition - Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies #11 signature /#11 first edition Good low matching numbers curious how the secondary market looks on these

All done
Well done Z. I will drop you a pm tomorrow. Time to crash now.
Any suggestions for what to auction next week ?
S2 silver half.. got one of those? You know I do ! I have an MS68 s2 silver half that I am gonna sell Next week I may do an standard auction for some 2012 / 2013 brass. Also thinking of doing 3 bigger ticket reverse auctions 1. An MS68 s2 silver half 2. An MS70 set of 4 s3 silver coins. 0.1, 0.5. 1.0 silver, 1.0 silver and gold 3. An MS68 error coin(PM me with offers if interested in any of these) I think for big ticket items rather than dimes, 'reverse may be the way forward', if no sale is reached by minimum I have for each lot, then they get withdrawn from sale rather than being sold for less than intended Any thoughts ? Mmmm... some bigger ticket cas coin sales sound exciting! And what do you mean by reverse auction? Regular sale w/OBO? Or auction with a hidden "reserve"? Price starts high, gets reduced by time, first person to accept offered price wins, or item gets withdrawn if there are no drops left

Economy / Collectibles / Re: Any EU laws regulating the sale of funded physical bitcoin?
|
on: June 27, 2016, 09:08:12 AM

Yep all of the above, CI and Gravitate (for Microsoul)
Its not the EU laws that are the issue. Its the US laws. Most of your market will be there. Denarium and TGBEX are also both EU. They both made the decision to not ship into the US (much like BTCC recently)
I echo that 10BTC is too bigger denom as a first strike. Talk to TGBEX, they do a range of coins from low to high denoms. They would probably be able to give you a steer on the relative proportions of sales by denom
10 BTC would require full disclosure of yourself as a starter, and then still not have any legs
I would limit yourself to 1 BTC (and probably much less than that). First strikes are generally much lower while trust is gained
