I gotta admit I think it's an addiction
Even when now the price seems to be climbing, I keep trying to pick the highs, and sell out.
Then I kick myself for doing it, then try to buy back in a a little lower.
Thank god managed to pass it off this time, but for what?
less than $100 profit and a nice donation to the Gox foundation?
Heck, my trading rate is almost down to 0.4%, I can't believe I've traded anywhere near enough... But the numbers don't lie.
This is really a gambling problem in disguise.
I'm going to put 20 of my coins on a USB, and put it in a safe somewhere at least then I can't trade them

I really never expected to see another crazy price rise like this again so soon. I think that $175 might be where alot of people decide to dump coins, especially if they missed out on selling at $180+ last time round. They won't want to risk missing the boat a second time. I predict This will followed by a crash to around $70 - $80. I think we will then see a series of gradually reducing bubbles and pops over the coming months until the price stabilises around $140. Once its stabilised for a few months we'll finally see some major retailers accept bitcoin and then lift off begins.  this is relatively on par with my projections. well done. Projections? Are u kidding. Lets face it we're all gambling |

Done. If anyone is brave enough to hold beyond the previous ATH when there is far less hype than before then they must have balls of steel. I dunno... Maybe not past it, but who knows where the bubble would've ended if it hadn't popped? I reckon there's actually more interest now that before the bubble. If you saw the interview with the Gox Ceo, you could see that the money is there. |

So just a thought. There's some serious money that could be made if you leverage.
I've started moving a large portion of my savings into Gox, but for a variety of reasons borrowing money might be smarter option (depending on the tax laws of your country).
Even then, I wouldn't mind putting more into something that is climbing so fast.
What do you guys think?

I'm mystified as to how the value of bitcoin fluctuates so wildly. We know there is a strong underlying case for Bitcoin in certain markets so it will always have use. We know that prices will shoot up when we get to 21 million as the supply will have disappeared. At that point I expect a stable price and will probably unload my investment. What baffles me is how it can increase and decrease in multitudes of its own price several times a month.
You have 2800 posts and know nothing about bitcoin? When we get to 21 million you will be dead, so if you wait to "unload your investment" by then you will be the richest in the cemetery. We will get to 21 million in 2140. Actually I am holding out for cloning to keep me on life support until the ability to upload myself to the cloud and live forever as part of the Singularity.  Money won't be of much use once we reach the singularity. |

I made a decent amount, but it really is nothing more than gambling. Very fun, addictive, gambling - but pretty much on par with poker as far as I can tell. Sure, you can increase your odds considerably by knowing the game, but you're in the end at the mercy of factors outside of your control.
Yep, I think of it as poker too, and poker is the only gambling game I play. Problem is I lose poker too. Who doesn't lose though is the house. The house always takes their cut. Notice how Gox fees are surprisingly similar to a blackjack table... |

It's such a flat run up if it does. We saw 130 collapse in a matter of minutes, that relatively speaking was a similar height

So you screwed up a bit, as long as you learned something it wasn't a total loss. You say you are still ahead so you didn't do too badly.
Someone on this forum said 80% of traders lose money, 10% break even, 5% make money, 5% make serious money, 100% think they will make serious money. I can't remember who said that but it's highly insightful.
Yeah I think I read that. *sigh* I certainally think I'm going to make money, but when I work it out the money I could make isn't worth the risk. |

Partly based on feelings... I have a strategy too, but if I'm sitting in front of the computer screen that'll often go out the window when all the green and red arrows start flashing. I don't doubt it  |

Since the bitcoin recovery I've been trying to day trade.
It's worked fine a couple of times. Made $100 in one go, $200, and $60 another time.
However, it's also worked not so well a few times, and I've lost $600 in one go, and around $900 in one go, as well as a few smaller losses which could have otherwise been profits due to fees.
I'm so pissed, because when this current spike to 135 happened, I was waiting for the coins to drop a little lower.
I ended up panic buying at 135 thinking that we'd break through the wall.
We didn't.
Fuck me. I'm just so annoyed. I'd have around 20 more coins if I'd just put my coins onto a usb stick an didn't touch it.
Fuck fuck fuck...
I feel like selling all my coins at a loss right now, and never talking about bitcoin again (even though overall I know I'm ahead)

Wow a nice clean buy at 121... Small loss due to fees
Reasons:
1. Hacker attack didn't pan out
2. It's Monday so new money coming in
3. USA is waking up... More people set to come online and trade
4. Nobody believes the FUD.
Fuck all action, if anything this leads me to conclude..
1. Nobody cares about the bitcoin rumours
2. People on the forum don't have much money (or lie in their poll votes)
3. The internet is full of shit.
Just watch those ask walls drop, as the price starts to rise.
