141  Economy / Speculation / Political battle over bitcoin on: May 16, 2013, 02:36:47 PM
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/05/15/the-coming-political-battle-over-bitcoin/

I think it's almost guaranteed that bitcoin will become a political battle soon.

If Gox gets shut down the price will almost certainly drop below to perhaps to the 10-30 range, but if it doesn't I think the price could climb from all the press and the broader adoption by the non-conformist segments of society.

What do you guys think?

Fucking hell.. this is craazy

Do I dare place another buy order??

At a loss???

wtf, somebody panic already.
145  Economy / Speculation / Re: why no crash ? on: May 16, 2013, 02:20:18 PM
I am also horrified that sent the price through the floor.

This is the US government going on the warpath against bitcoin.

The biggest threat the currency has had... Ever.

If US decides bitcoins is a threat they'll be worthless overnight.

How could this current action not cause the price to dip to double digits???
146  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price will not crash due to MtGox crackdown on: May 16, 2013, 10:11:13 AM
I've got long term BTC that I never touch (no matter what).

But I've just sold all my current BTC and will sit this one on the sidelines for the next few days until this blows over.  If I have to buy back at 5-15% loss in a few days...so be it...but I have no appetite to take massive haircut if this turns into panic.

(P.S. Sitting on the sidelines at bitstamp. No way I'd keep fiat or btc in Mt Gox right now)

So shall we just assume those coins are lost because they will never be touched?  Roll Eyes

I'll never touch them...my great grand kids will use them buy small countries. Cheesy

Two words.

Quantum Computers

It's not gonna happen
147  Economy / Service Discussion / Why is the price going up? and how the fuck do I get my money out of Gox? on: May 16, 2013, 04:16:22 AM
Maybe these are related..

Is Gox going to close?

Is it possible this whole thing could blow over (maybe with an associated dip in price)

I'm a little bit scared here, I've got a shit load of fiat in Gox atm that I panic sold when I read the news. Plus more fiat I wired some into Gox about 6hrs before the news broke... What bad timing.

How do I get my fiat out?
I should point out I'm in Australia. What's the quickest, easiest way?

All you people who say this shows people should buy BTC are crazy. BTC doesn't by squat in the real world. At the end of the day I want money I can spend!

Hey Guys,

I want to promote my site.

Here's the deal I'll give you 0.001 BTC to post a link out there somewhere on the internet to my website.
Obviously you have to say something nice or neutral, such as..

http://www.bitcointextmessage.com is how I stay up to date with the bitcoin trends

Check out www.bitcointextmessage.com yeah!

No rewards for copying mine, make up your own!!

To claim your coins, simply reply and replace the red parts with your bitcoin address, and the URL to the evidence you actually did it.

<address>Your bitcoin address</address><evidence>The website URL of your post</evidence>

It's important you keep it in this format only replacing the red bits as I will use a computer program later to scan the forum for these bits, and check the results.

As I don't have an unlimited bank account I'm limiting this offer to the first 100 people to do it.

Never been an easier way to get coin.

I reserve the right to withhold payment from anyone who I think is trying to scam me (i.e. making multiple posts etc...)

I think it's a great complementary site to bitcoinity..
154  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the best trading-bot? on: May 09, 2013, 11:44:34 AM
my trading bot is the best... I'll sell it to you for 1000BTC

I worked it out and if you had run my bot for 5 months from November to early April a $50000 investment would be worth about
$1.2 Million...

You'd be a fucking millionaire with my bot, and I'm prepared to sell it to you for just 1000 BTC!!!
155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculate where the price will be headed when gox comes back on: May 09, 2013, 11:27:43 AM
I don't think it's a DDOS...

It's China

156  Economy / Speculation / Re: The proof is in the pudding: chinese are participating en masse, price not up on: May 09, 2013, 11:13:57 AM
The Chinese people are mostly miners, they are here looking for free money, not giving you the free money.

If you can read a bit of Chinese, you can browse the Chinese sub-forum here, most of them are discussing Bitcoin mining or Ripple, it is silly to assume that they would inject a huge sum of money into the market.

I am not saying they won't but not in the near future, also bear in mind that when Bitcoin is becoming too dominant in the economy that would threaten the leading role of CNY, the communist party would brutally crack down and outlaw its usage. It is not a hard task to accomplish, they only need to shut down btcchina and block all the exchanges overseas with their internet firewall.

Thanks for validating!

I have to agree. It makes sense for the Chinese to mine.. The government doesn't want them to buy bitcoins, they want them to control bitcoins. The way you control bitcoin is by having all the hashrate.

I'd say it's a very deliberate move on the governments part. Think about how much money they invest into hacking.

This is just more of China's expanding soft power... Expect them to be pumping out ASICS by the bucket load. Still, it can only be good for the coin... maybe... unless western governments will intervene.

Still short term, I'm holding. Hashrate is going up.. so will the price for sure!

Shut the fuck up.

I don't know why people are allowed to post threads like this.

Go back to grade 2 where you belong
158  Economy / Speculation / Re: holy shit, china is going parabolic.. on: May 05, 2013, 02:24:57 AM
China will be the first country to crack down on Bitcoin.

It's trivial for them to block Bitcoin communications over their network, they have the most advanced proxy filtering systems in the world.

Maybe... But if the government were against it, why would they let it go on CCTV then?
159  Economy / Speculation / Re: woah so many bulls in the /spec/ forum on: May 04, 2013, 06:04:37 AM
I don't quite understand you. Are you saying that bears are just bulls in disguise?
lets say i sold all at 200
i want to buy at 40

the question is what if it never gets to 40 ?
what's my influence on the market ? i already sold i cant push the market down even more the only thing is buy
sentiment = bearish
action=only buy=bullish

That's why the down move will not be a continues smooth slide - but rather a series of bumps.  Soon there will not be people that sold at 200 and want to buy - but rather people who sold at 200, bought at 140, sold ..., bought ....  Some of them will be earning on each sell/buy rounds, but probably most will be bleeding slowly.

Yeah I must admit I'm bleeding slowly from doing this. Mainly due to panicking and doing the wrong thing
160  Economy / Speculation / Re: woah so many bulls in the /spec/ forum on: May 04, 2013, 05:36:55 AM
I actually agree with this..

There's a reason we have huge buy walls, and that's because people want to buy at that price.

The fact that people are selling into the buy walls is great news for the upward movement of the price.

It means you get BTC being transferred from people who think the price is high and want to get rid of it, to people think it's cheap, and are likely to hold.

I bought some at  98.75, am I crazy. Yes, I admit I got caught in the panic, but the fact people were driving the price up to me signals that these 2 digit prices we're experiencing are awesome!
