I know I've bugged you a bit with feature requests, but I thought of another that would be nice.
When creating a custom dynamic price, it would be nice to have min() and max() functions. For instance, if I'm selling I might want to sell at USD_24h or mtgoxUSD_ask, whichever is higher.
Is 14B8Zb94ypK7R11UV1RAojJkeSmpCHZfKJ still your donation address? I don't see it on the site anymore.
There is already min/max functions, the only limit is that they work only with two parameters. So you have to nest them if you want to use multiple parameters. For example: min(min(mtgoxUSD, bitfloorUSD), bitstampUSD)

"Transporting US currency overseas costs the military hundreds of thousands of dollars annually — during the Iraq War, for every $1,000,000 sent to pay soldiers in Iraq, it cost $60,000 in security, logistics, and support fees." After reading that wikipedia article it becomes apparent that militaries should use Bitcoin to save money on cash transfers

Easywallet.org works with iPhone and is also pretty fast. The only problem is that the barcodes scanner app is sometimes buggy (the "app" itself is just a web page, but works nicely in integrated way with qr code scanner). Also the app is hosted wallet and designed only for small amounts - there is a storage fee if you store more than 12BTC. Also with the one-tap bitcoin payment option the payment can be done with one tap only, and takes about ~10 sec. So perfect for paying quickly small amounts, for example lunch. https://easywallet.org/bitcoin_for_iphonehttp://itunes.apple.com/us/app/barcodes-scanner/id417257150?mt=8(Disclaimer: I'm the developer).

ah, i thought there was a way to leave publicly visible feedback.
Currently that is available only if the transaction feature is used. However we are doing some re-designing.
|
|
|
how can i even finish a deal, let alone leave feedback?
Hi, what kind of deal are you doing? If it is contact-only, there should be "cancel deal" button, which will soon be renamed to "close contact". There is no option for feedback in this kind of contacts - it is just messaging method between users. We are currently doing some changes to the system, sorry for the slow updates.
|
|
|
Now more SMS numbers added, and all the numbers are listed in the contact page. In case the main number doesn't work, you can try others.
Our new gateway is nexmo, which focuses solely on SMS messages, therefore it should be more reliable than twilio.

Both are for the "Paper Wallet" tab:
1) To offer the option of using my own private keys instead of new random ones.
I think this feature is kind of for very small niche... Just take the graphic from elsewhere and create the note yourself. Spotted from the web: Finland-themed bitaddress.org, translated to finnish. https://cdn.anonfiles.com/1354187274492.html

Our SMS service provider twilio, for some reason, has stopped receiving incoming SMS's altogether this weekend. We are looking for alternate provider ASAP.
The situation seemed better last weekend, when SMS messages were transfering nicely. However now it seems that twilio is not very robust. Won't recommend it.
(Btw, someone could implement semi-distributed SMS gateway, payable with bitcoin).

http://www.avc.com/a_vc/2012/11/what-has-changed.html#comment-718987084Teemu Kurppa --> takingpitches • 2 days ago I've been following a few Bitcoin companies here in Finland, and as an earlier Bitcoin sceptic, I was surprised how much activity and money there is already in Bitcoin economy. I think a lot of investors are underestimating what's going on in Bitcoin world, because it's still so far away from the mainstream. But many truly disruptive things were viewed as toys or pure idiocy in the early days. I'm speaking from the experience here. When we started Jaiku, a microblogging service similar to Twitter, in 2006, before Twitter and before Facebook's activity stream. At that time, a lot of people said that broadcasting and reading short mundane thoughts was the stupidest idea they had ever heard of. Fast-forward a few years and hundred of millions of people are doing it everyday. Based on what I've seen, I'm starting to think that Bitcoin might be a similar phenomenon. fredwilson Mod --> Teemu Kurppa • 2 days ago
Yessssssssss
Fred Wilson (born August 20, 1961) is a New York-based venture capitalist and blogger. Wilson is the co-founder of Union Square Ventures, a New York City-based venture capital firm with investments in Web 2.0 companies such as Twitter, Tumblr, Foursquare, Zynga and 10gen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Wilson_(financier) Wow, what a surprise. Teemu is actually working in the same coworking-space as me, and I have been promoting bitcoin for some time here to Finnish startups. And I guess one bitcoin startup he has been following is ours

I don't see the problem. He is not tying up anyone's else money than his/her own. That guy is the only loser, in addition to playing losing game.
But the real thing to note is that transaction costs will go up.

He could and he should, if he sees that that way suits him better. Bitcoin is about freedom - anyone can use any tool for exchange. If someone sees that some altcoin is better, then he probably should star one and see if it catches on.
(However, from practical viewpoint I don't see that Kim's own block chain would catch on.)

Emails were not transfering properly due to a minor misconfiguration in email sending. Sorry about that. Make sure you check your localbitcoins.com account in case of missed trades.
One new feature you have probably noticed: you can now reply to your contacts directly by email, no need to login to localbitcoins. However the feature is somewhat experimental - don't count on it too much.
I had the system swallow a few responses using this. I think it is because I trimmed the email conversation, but I'm not really certain. It's really better to just use the website. Yeah, the system trims everything after "----" . I didn't realize that people answer to mails after the quote. Will fix this. kangasbros,
this morning, 0800 UTC+1, I sent a SMS to release some funds for deal #4388.
The release code was: REL FFW9NKN3DW and I sent it from an Italian cellular number.
At 0840 more or less I was in my office and I had not yet received the confirmation I (and the buyer) was expecting.
So I loggend into localbitcoins and released the bitcoins by hand.
As soon as I clicked "release" I received a SMS back confirming that the deal was concluded.
I'd like to know if my SMS was ever received by localbitcoins (I can tell you my cellular number in a PM) and/or how long does it take on average to get back a confirmation.
Thanks a lot.
spiccioli.
Thanks for reporting this. Our system uses twilio, and it seems that they are not processing SMS messages from all operators. This definitely sucks hard. We will research the case and see what we can do. Probably we will try to get some additional numbers from somewhere, but for now it is not recommended to use the SMS service in Italy.

i.e., if a merchant gives me a paper bitcoin (e.g., as change for a purchase I made where I paid using a paper bitcoin with a fixed amount of bitcoins on it), and the transaction from the merchant hasn't yet confirmed, I then need to wait until it confirms before I can redeem it with EasyWallet.
If that is how it works, then that kind of renders it unusable [edit: less than perfect] for one of the use cases I had in mind for this. Since EasyWallet won't give me access to the funds until they confirm anyway, what is the harm in redeeming the private key even if the unspent inputs have no confirmations yet?
When I get a paper bitcoin from someone else, I want to get the spend transaction broadcast immediately so that there is no temptation for the merchant to double spend on me (by redeeming another copy of it) after I walk out the door.
Could this decision on requiring confirmations be reconsidered?
Yeah, why not. The reason for the current mechanism is technical. I have yet to find a way to update the transaction database real-time.

Why the high fees for holding over 12 btc? Are you just trying to limit the amount of bitcoin that people keep on their EasyWallet ? If so, 12% annually is a very effective deterrent.
Yeah, for the moment being. Less holders -> less work for me. I currently want to focus more on localbitcoins.com In the future however, the fees will be lower and/or there will be alternative where you can just pay fixed monthly fee - no other fees. Will take some time to develop, however. Wrote a blog post about paper wallets: http://localbitcoins.blogspot.fi/2012/11/start-your-own-money-press.html

Vegemesta, the most technologically advanced veggie burger chain is also coming to the hackathon, and providing some food! They are especially interested in POS development (OpenBravo + Bitcoin).
