681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING: Feathercoin just hit BTC-e on: May 02, 2013, 05:28:06 PM
FC actually worth about 1/6 of LTC.
Considering in the long run there will be 4 times as many FC as LTC it means that FC has rise in 10 days what LTC took about 2 years to rise.
That is insane Shocked, most pumped cryptofraud ever!
Chances are this crap is about to crash to 1/10th of current value!

Mincoin is shooting up in value at the exchange http://www.mcxnow.com exciting stuff.
And wait until that exchange become one of the major out there!
I'm speculating that when some other pairs will be added, people will start to diversify their holdings into MinCoin causing the price of this rare, fast altcoin to skyrocket.
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do alt currencies have value? on: May 01, 2013, 10:16:33 AM

I

Mincoin is not garbage, it's the rarest and fastest coin out there! One day it will trade higher then bitcoin that's for sure.
No it won't the design is garbage it will dies like all the scrypt based coins, unless someone invents low power ASIC's to mine them. The coins that win in the end will be low power fast transaction, with no requirement to store a local copy of the entire block chain. Scrypt was designed to be a power waste, it was intended to prevent brute force attacks, not for coins.

PM me when 1 MNC =  0.1 BTC i'll sell you some at good price!

This really puts Feathercoin's success in perspective. It started AFTER Mincoin, there will be over thirty times MORE of them, and feathercoin is STILL trading at 5x the price per coin. Adjusted for the relative numbers of each, that makes Feathercoin 150x more valuable. Wow.

It must suck being proven wrong after one day! Tongue

http://www.mcxnow.com/exchange/MNC

MNC currently trading around 0.002 BTC and FTC is 0.0012

There is no way feathercoin will beat Mincoins on price because there is only 2880 mincoins made each day vs 115200 feathercoins. feathercoin might still be good to mine but mincoin is going to have the higher price always in my opinion.

I agree with you, a lot of people holding FC at these prices would be better selling for MinCoin which is still way undervalued.

If I could buy Mincoin with cash thats one thing but theres no king way I'm giving up Bitcoin for that.

Why not? They are basically the same thing but Mincoin is faster and there will be half as much as Bitcoin; but 1 BTC = 1000 MNC at the moment.
Selling some of your cryptoair for MinCoin could be the smartest move of your life because MinCoin is the next big thing out there!

With the rise of LTC and more recently FTC, why do these alt coins have value? I can only think of 2 possible reasons:

1) There is something fundamentally better about an alt coin and it will eventually overtake BTC. Thus the coin has value because people are speculating that a specific coin will overtake BTC.

2) Multiple coins can coexists and may even be used for different niches within the market. For instance, LTC may be used for in person (online) transactions due to it's speed.

Thoughts?

It's pretty simple, really: anything that is scarce has a non-zero value.

The value beyond that - the explanation for why different altcoins have different values - is entirely speculative. Everyone wishes they got in on Bitcoin early, so they try to catch the next wave by dropping a bunch of money on coins that have zero purchasing power. And of course the developers starting the most recent altcoins - especially pseudopremined garbage like mincoin - are hoping to get rich by building up a pile of coins before all the speculative money flows in and makes them worth something substantial.

It's fun to watch it go. And a long as altcoins provide the opportunity for more mining profit than Bitcoin, I'm quite pleased with the situation.

Mincoin is not garbage, it's the rarest and fastest coin out there! One day it will trade higher then bitcoin that's for sure.

698  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help with btc-e api on: April 12, 2013, 04:51:44 PM
Hi, is anyone else having problems today using API from BTCe for automatic trading?
They keep knocking me out of data feed every 5 minutes, then i have to wait for half an hour before the server start to give response to my requests. 5 minutes later i'm off again!
Everything has been working well until today, i can't understand the reasons of this issue  Huh
It's curious that if i try to access https://btc-e.com/api/2/btc_usd/depth from mozilla everything works fine, everytime i refresh the page.
If i send a request to download the string at the same address via my webClient in VB.NET it works only for a very short period of time let's say 5 minutes then their server stop responding to me.
699  Local / Italiano (Italian) / Terracoin on: March 17, 2013, 04:13:13 PM
