41  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin's Weak Points on: October 23, 2019, 05:01:56 PM

We are always talking here the many benefits, advantages and power of Bitcoin, but we know that for every coin there are always two sides. Bitcoin, am sure, also have its own many weak points that may or may not need some good attention or focus.

Please share here some weak points of Bitcoin that you know and feel...let's discuss them one by one and see how solutions can be applied into them.

Unfortunately there still are many weak points.
For example:
- High fees. The fees needed to confirm a transaction may very even dramatically over a short period of time. But in general it is not so cheap, especially for micro payments.
- Long confirmation time. This is somewhat correlated with fees, but in general remember Bitcoin transactions are not instant.
- High volatility. This peculiarity of Bitcoin make it more used for speculation and long term investments, as a digital asset, but not as currency. To become a real method of payment Bitcoin's volatility should be less dramatic, otherwise merchants will never be prone to accept it.

The proper section for currency exchange is this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0
Anyway, it is very very uncommon to exchange fiat currencies here on bitcointalk, so I suggest you to post your thread on another platform. You will have better luck.
43  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Health and Religion on: October 23, 2019, 04:51:17 PM
I think the most deleterious effect of atheism is depression, often correlated with anxiety and apathy. If you look at suicide rates, you will notice many low-suicide rates countries are very religious. For example, suicide rates in Morocco, Pakistan, Kuwait and even Syria are far lower than Japan, South Korea or Finland (countries with high atheism rate).
44  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do politicians take us for granted? on: October 23, 2019, 04:36:59 PM
This happens not only in African countries, but almost all over the world.
Why? Because it works. People are so naive and silly that always fall for some politician and then vote him/her. They just believe any promise politicians made.
Politicians, on the other hand, are masters of communication and marketing and thus are very skilled in manipulating people for their own benefits.
45  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Would you accept money backed by happiness? on: October 23, 2019, 04:32:14 PM
So lets say someone is trying to turn your laughter data (like how much you laugh throughout your day to day interactions) Into a encrypted digital collectible that could be exchanged globally throughout the world 24/7.

Would you participate in the open market of happiness?

I think that would be kinda dystopian, because, in order to do that you will need two things:

- a reliable A.I. software which will distinguish between fake and sincere smiles
- a tracking platform which will follow you 24/7 (a big brother, in short.)

Better to work hard and try to earn some dime the old fashioned way, in my opinion.

I voted for Los Angeles Clippers because it's my favorite team. I really hope this will be their season.
Kawhi Leonard is a fantastic player and he could be the leader the Clippers needed to become stronger and more competitive.
47  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Often Do you Bet on Politics? on: October 23, 2019, 08:14:16 AM
Politics seems predictable most of the time but looks like few people actually bet on it. Example, you know Joe Bidden has probably 50% chance of winning the Democrats primary. What stops you from picking and betting on that? Do you bet on politics and what are your winning stats.

Some time around October 2016 after the Access Hollywood tape was released, a certain betting site gave 108 to Trump winning the election. I believed strongly that Trump was going to win despite everything thrown at him. I had $5,000 and wanted to pick the odd. Somehow, I didn't follow through. That could have given me over half a million dollars in winning.

How often do you bet on Politics? Any reason why most people don't really bet on Politics? Do you know any trusted betting site that offers good odds in American Politics?

I agree with your point of view. Betting on political events is a fun way to bet and I think it's often easier to win compared with sport betting.
But unfortunately bookmakers are more prone to offer sport betting than politics one. So it's not easy to find a reliable bookmaker for doing that.
48  Other / Off-topic / Re: Match making. on: October 23, 2019, 08:10:48 AM
This is quite fun, but I think it's unlikely you will find a mate here on bitcointalk, especially if you're looking for girls.

50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You own a decent amount of Bitcoin, How would you increase it on: October 23, 2019, 07:08:48 AM
Greeting all,

I own a decent amount of Bitcoins which were made honestly with right investment & timing since 2012.
During 2017 until 2019, i invested in many different projects and 99% of my investment got wiped almost instantly during 2019.

I did recover some of my losses with the IEO hype but it seems the IEO hype is over now.
I know the right answer is to HODL and just let the sit back and relax but it wont grow my Bitcoins amount.

I read about many so called Bitcoin Banks, Projects,  who promise you 3% interest annually, simply don't believe in holding your bitcoins in one place for such a long time.

So how would you increase your bitcoins?

Trading and gambling are among the most used methods to grow Bitcoins nowadays. But they are both quite risky and dangerous if you are not skilled enough. So my best suggestion would be to first study and then practice on a demo account or with low amounts of money. Then, when (and if) you will become more experienced and skilled, you will be able to invest your Bitcoins properly and make them grow.

I want more UpVote on my Reddit post. Help anyone. Thank You.

You should post something more useful to the community, otherwise you won't get many upvotes or comments.
54  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why are some countries still so rich and others so poor on: September 26, 2019, 03:10:33 PM
History plays a great role about that. Countries which were rich 40-50 years ago are still rich despite the recent changes.
55  Other / Off-topic / Re: Pros and cons of KYC and the alternative logic on: September 26, 2019, 03:08:18 PM
I see a lot of negative posts about KYC procedure and how the exchanges are losing their reputation when requiring user to go through KYC (even if only suspicious transactions are obliged, like it works with coinbase, changelly or binance).
I think people are overreacting. Sorry for being Captain Obvious, but at least, you should know how the internet works before you might actually start to worry about your anonymity during the exchange procedure.
I may not understand something, but what's the difference between sending your passport photo and being registered on facebook or instagram? You'll be surprised to know how much info they have on you even if you didn't name it.
In a world of big data people are afraid of KYC, but at the same time they aren't afraid to be registered in social media or using google. I mean... Could you explain, how this logic works?

I think the vast majority of people who don't want to submit to KYC procedures on exchanges aren't registered on social media websites. They just want privacy everywhere they go.

I was thinking about joining their affiliate program, which seemed very nice and profitable. Now I gotta move to another company.
57  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Little sad story about Crimea and Upwork on: September 26, 2019, 03:02:04 PM
In recent years, I am mainly in the Crimea. It is not very warm here, like in Costa Rica. But so sunny and lower prices in shops.

And so I get a message from Upwork:

- Your account is blocked, because the IP you are writing from, is located in a territory prohibited by US law.

Here it is!

VPN did not help me - they recognized him.

Now I have difficulty finding a job.

Why do politicians prevent ordinary artisans, like me, from quietly earning a living?

Thank you for reading to the end.

This is very sad. I think they won't unblock you, so you should move to another platform.
Even better, put down a good SEO strategy to make interested people visit your website and then contact you by email or telegram.
58  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Did we actually really land on moon? on: September 26, 2019, 02:55:31 PM
Ok, don't throw me into the same basket for the believers of conspiracy theories.

I believe Earth is NOT flat. I don't believe there are aliens in Area 51.

But this question is factually not very convincing and it is, did we actually land on moon in 1969.

There are many compelling evidences, facts etc that proves that indeed we landed on moon.

But even in 21st century where there an accident with Kalpana Chawla who merely went to space and came back, it sounds too good to be true that in 1969, we landed on the moon which is around 300000 kms or 186000 miles from the Earth with those time of technologies and successfully came back. Remember, the first apple computer was launched in 1976.

I'm not saying we didn't, I'm just saying that it's not really a question that can be debunked like other theories which says Earth is flat.

I think the most convincing proof of the Moon landing came from the former Soviet government.
No one from the U.S.S.R. has ever claimed the U.S.A. astronauts didn't land on the Moon.
59  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nigeria going cashless on: September 26, 2019, 02:51:22 PM
Punishing cash users is very bad, because cash money is the only way to have full control of your (fiat) money. I think governments acts this way for 3 main reasons:

1. Surveillance and control
2. Raising banks' revenues
3. Raising taxes' revenues

Instead, cash is the only way I know to not pay fees (both for the sender and the receiver). Banning cash would be the ultimate dystopia.
60  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stock Market vs Crypto Market on: September 26, 2019, 02:45:44 PM
Hi all, I'm new to crypto market. Would like to ask is Crypto market correlated to Stock market ? And can we apply Stock investment strategy & technique  in Crypto market Huh

Crypto market is far more volatile, so there are many differences you should take care of because implementing your trading strategy. Also, since Bitcoin's dominance is so strong, any other altcoin is related to it.
