861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Reference R9 290 for ethereum, avoid at all costs? on: October 07, 2016, 12:29:47 PM
I'm seen some really cheap 290s around, but they're all reference models. about 150 bucks per card.

Should I avoid the reference cooler at all costs? I've heard it's really bad, noisy and doesn't cool well. on the other hand, I'm willing to undervolt for anything that would give me more than 25Mh.

What do you think?
862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ICONOMI - Fund Management Platform ❘|❘ ICO CLOSED on: October 07, 2016, 11:56:26 AM
I don't really get it. do you HAVE to send your ID even when you only have small amounts of tokens? I really don't want my ID ending in the darknet.
863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] OPAIR | Decentralized Debit Cards | OCaml | New Blockchain Platform on: October 07, 2016, 05:43:54 AM
Hi,

I dont understand all this drama. I know the price go really low but this is not our fault. About the beta we always said that we expect to be ready on the second half of the month.

About bittrex, we talk with them but they found a lot of FUD (or "opinions") on our thread and after that they never reply again.

Tomorrow we are going to send the pending requests.

Regards

Bittrex are not dumb, they would have found shady things about the project with the "FUD" or without it. and you need to pay the listing fee. but what's the point in having an exchange when there's basically no project to back it up? people are not going to buy coins above ICO price before the actual wallet is released.
864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] OPAIR | Decentralized Debit Cards | OCaml | New Blockchain Platform on: October 07, 2016, 12:18:02 AM
Guys, I definitely would like someone to find wasserman and pressure him into returning the ico funds he scammed, I just think using the opair distribution for another coin gives the ico investors the best chance to get something out of this. zcash is launching in a few weeks, so why not make opair the first fairly launched zcash clone? Crazier things happen in the cryptoshere everyday

I'm not sure how many people truly understand the zcash protocol. better off forking another coin for now.

I heard Monero went under???
Eitherway, how do I use those links to mine?
Monero is okay, the price went down after it was dislisted from darknet markets.
To use those miners, you need a pool and a wallet, I recommend ethermine.org and myetherwallet.com, there's a guide in Claymore's thread on how to setup the miner after you have those two.
Would I be better mining Monero then?  If so, where do I get that information?  Also, which claymore do I downloan, I am using windows 10

Download the latest windows version. and yeah, I think Monero is more profitable with your card.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=638915.0 - this is claymore's cryptonote miner, which can be used for Monero. you'll need a wallet and a pool, as well.
866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] OPAIR | Decentralized Debit Cards | OCaml | New Blockchain Platform on: October 06, 2016, 11:38:54 PM
I doubt wasserman is even following this thread anymore. this coin was a complete scam, we said so a hundred times but were called fudders.
He didn't deserve a single bitcoin to be invested in this project, a few LinkedIn accounts and two BTCtalk accounts cost pennies compared to what he scammed. but people preferred that SJ will forward the bitcoins to wasserman's hands. He played the nice guy until he got all the bitcoins from escrow. now all that's left is a cloned wallet he copied from github.

He's gonna run all the bitcoin's through bitmixer, and enjoy the free money. and people are happy the coin is listen on YOBIT. they list, literally, every coin.
To those of you looking to find his real identity, the first step would be to find the person who made the voiceover for the Opair video.

It's going to be hard finding his real identity. The voiceover is your best hope.. As he used anonymous domain, hosting, email etc.

No point finding wasserman, what crime did he commit?  He's obviously a dishonest guy who never intended to fulfil his stated roadmap, but people voluntarily sent him money, and no prosecutor would ever charge him, what jurisdiction?. He got away with 100k usd, nobody will take expensive legal action for that amount. Maybe someone finds him and chops off a finger, but then does anyone expect that guy to refund all the ico victims? Comon guys, this was a successful scam, move on

Best outcome for victims is an NFD styled reboot, probably have 7-10 days to organise before everyone moves on. Use the Opair distribution with wasserman 9% to pay a new dev. Zcash seems obvious choice, but could be many others too. It's the best hope to get some return from this sorry situation

I'm not expecting him to be brought to court ofcourse, but finding his identity might make him repay the investors. nobody wants their name and details publicly available as ones who scammed dozens of people out of bitcoins.

Mining is getting too difficult now is there any way to work out how many miners are on the network?
Trade secret. But I am near the output of an Antminer s1. Grin.

I'd be surprised, an AntMiner S1 is 180 GH/s, and based on the network's current difficulty, it's hash rate is somewhere below 230 MH/s Wink

Math for anyone interested: current difficulty is 23A79E4A
For ballparking this, we only care about the first two digits (23). Let's add 1 to it, so that we overestimate instead of underestimate: 24.
24 is, in hex, the number of zeroes that need to be at the beginning of a winning hash. In decimal, that's 36.
Therefore, you need 36 zeroes at the beginning of a hash for it to win. Only 1/(2^36) hashes will, on average, meet this requirement. That means, on average, the network produces 2^36 hashes every time a block is produced (5 minutes). As such, it does (2^36)/300 = 229,064,923 hashes per second, or (229,064,923/(1024 * 1024)) = 218.45-ish MH/s.

Thanks for making the calculation. can ASICs be used with Pascal, theoretically? is the algorithm double SHA256?

870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Access Old Bitcoin Account on: October 06, 2016, 09:15:31 PM
I must be wrong about when I started mining.
I am pretty sure it was after 2010. Since bitcoin started open source mining in  2009 I must be way off.
I know  where the old hard drive is where I remember downloading bitcoin to "solo mine" exactly as you stated. I will try to get it and go from there.
I recently found a password and email that I had written down from  back then, thus sparks flew in my head in hopes I could have a small "fortune"  Grin
If I am able to access that hard drive I will post for advice!
Thanks all!

calkob, you are right as I have no clue how wallets worked, you are wrong in everything else

I'm not 100% sure, but there might have been a lite-client in 2010. I know blockchain.info offers such a service since 2011.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NVIDIA 750Ti Help on: October 06, 2016, 09:11:34 PM
Try using Claymore's miner or sgminer-gm.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1433925.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1612329.0

Both miners should give you higher hashrates than Minergate, but don't expect much out of a 750Ti, I've been told they are not good for ethereum anymore. you might want to mine Monero instead.

...

The problem is with Geth, it was a updated recently. Download the latest mist/geth combo at: https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases/download/v0.8.4/Ethereum-Wallet-win64-0-8-4.exe
Should fix your issues, especially with such a quick internet connection.

The last geth is this one (for windows) https://github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/releases/download/v1.4.16/geth-windows-amd64-1.4.16-4fced097.zip

He should replace his currently version (I suppose Geth 1.4.14 or .15) with the new one '1.4.16' and reopen mist or ethereum wallet, remember also to delete the chaindata folder and run again geth but with the fast mode: geth.exe --fast --cache=1024  or more cache=4048

Yeah but it was not yet packed with Mist. I'm assuming the current Geth that is bundled with Mist works as well because it runs pretty well on my computer, but newer versions have a few more DoS patches.
873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Access Old Bitcoin Account on: October 06, 2016, 08:49:24 PM
I started mining in the early days of Bitcoin, roughly 5-6 months after Bitcoin started. I signed up and mined for a very short period of time and my computer broke down. I never accessed my account again. I recently found my UN and PASSWORD that I used when I originally signed up but I don't know where to access my account as of today. Any suggestions? Is there an original bitcoin wallet still active?

The ONLY wallet that existed in May of 2009, five months after Bitcoin started in January of 2009, was the original wallet.  Today it is known as "Bitcoin Core".  It didn't have any username, and it didn't have any accounts.  Just wallet software and data on your hard drive that was encrypted with a password.  There were no mining pools, you would have been solo mining on your computer.

This means that if you don't have a backup of that wallet file, and you no longer have access to that computer, then those bitcoins are permanently lost forever.

It think he might be referring to address and private key as username and password.
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 0.25 BTC reward for helping me transfer Auger REP tokens on: October 06, 2016, 08:37:39 PM
Dude, you win turns out I was using the wrong JSON file every time I tried that https://www.myetherwallet.com/#send-tokens

Anyhow I am a man of my word you solved this for me please send me a bitcoin address.

BTW people it turns out Ethereum Wallets do not fucking work!  Today created a Microsoft Azure windows box and installed the Ethereum wallet to see if it was my internet.

Proof on Microsoft Azure all ports opened nada....

Notice how it took up all the memory and CPU and gave the end user shit on a stick as the blocks where downloading soooo slowly that you would never catch up to the network.

Eth downloaded the first set of blocks but did not do the rest and is behind by days and will never catch up at the rate it's downloading blocks.

Just my rant since this coin has the second largest market cap?  Something stinks.

The problem is with Geth, it was a updated recently. Download the latest mist/geth combo at: https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases/download/v0.8.4/Ethereum-Wallet-win64-0-8-4.exe
Should fix your issues, especially with such a quick internet connection. Basically the high CPU usage is a result of ongoing DoS attacks on the Ethereum network for the last few weeks. new Geth versions don't use nearly as much RAM and sync with the network at the decent rate.
875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 0.25 BTC reward for helping me transfer Auger REP tokens on: October 06, 2016, 03:10:37 PM
Hi I have a lot of Auger Rep tokens and my Ethereum wallet is syncing so slowly it can't catch up to the network.

I am looking for any solution that allows me to transfer my auger REP tokens that means a solution to my slow syncing or just using my private keys and eth block explorer to do the transfer.
I am good with command line stuff I have 10 different computers.  I will pay to have this god damn problem solved and I will never look back at Eth or it's tokens a beyond a trade on a exchange ever again.

Who ever gives me the solution I choose to be the fastest way to get my REP tokens out will get paid the 0.25 Bitcoins.

Thanks.

Hello Sir,

Pls follow this guide from the official blog

http://blog.augur.net/2016/10/04/augur-rep-is-live-access-guide/

Hope it helps Smiley

Thanks dude appreciate you trying to help however when I give them my file and enter my password it does not work yet I am able to send ETH from that file without syncing using my password.  Not sure why it does not work but if I could see my Private key I would use that.

Thanks again.

You should be able to export the private key using myetherwallet after importing the json wallet file. Are you using Mist?
876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 0.25 BTC reward for helping me transfer Auger REP tokens on: October 06, 2016, 02:37:58 PM
Do you have a router?
Yes I have opened all ports 30303 and 30301 nothing.

Just use MyEtherWallet if you are looking for a quick withdrawal. Decentral just announced they support Augur with Jaxx as well: http://decentral.ca/jaxx-first-multi-platform-wallet-to-offer-augur-rep/
BTW: which Geth version you are running? there were a few updates recently, try updating your wallet to the latest version.
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethpool on: October 06, 2016, 01:37:50 PM
I'm not sure what's going on with ethpool, but why not migrate to ethermine? you can withdraw your balance anytime and they have a few more servers. never had any issues with them except when the Geth issue occured.
878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 0.25 BTC reward for helping me transfer Auger REP tokens on: October 06, 2016, 01:33:53 PM
Myetherwallet.com supports Augur tokens, import the private key or the json wallet file and transfer them to your favorite exchange. you can import a Mist wallet to the website.
Make sure the URL is correct, there are a ton of imposters for myetherwallet.

I found a few cheap 750TIs locally and wondered if they still produce the 10Mh/s on ethereum they used to.

Anyone has some fresh figures?
