But the way these sites were advertising their apps as if it will make us rich was so wrong.
Using popular celebs to advertise such appropriate because there's a large audience that watches them and get influenced.
It is how the celebs sell their influence on common people. There are people who are fanatical about their idolized celebs. They will follow them to death and that is what is wrong but common among the rising younger generation. We old skool people have learnt how this works and hence avoid such influence and it is out job to prevent our known family members from getting trapped here among other things.

We as an individual can make an impact here by showing them how celebs only make money from their signups and that they are least bothered about the customers.
Some time ago there was a gambling app which hired popular celebrities who were promoting the app like anything.
Honestly, I don't believe in such apps and hesitate to download such apps on my phone. I prefer gambling on desktop.

People want to be rich/popular, so all marketing techniques are centered around that. Look at Vimal pan masala ad, I don't think there is any better reason to unfollow celebs.

Very true. All these celebs are just running for money and promote anything they get money for.
As libert19 said about Vimal Pan Masala ad, we know how Akshay Kumar fell for it but then stepped back as people started criticizing him for doing that.
Similarly there are so many celebs who promote anything they get and are least bothered about their watchers.
People should stop blindly following others.

Damn, the numbers have drastically decreased this time. Almost all the categories are reduced to more than half.
Although I kinda had an idea it would be low this time but didn't expect it would decreased by more than half.
Also, I am surprised to see how the Russian board is having so much strength. There's no match to it.

P.S: Pakistan and Bangladesh are way ahead of us  Shocked
343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lack of proper knowledge on casino games increases chance of loss and reduce fun on: December 28, 2023, 06:04:24 PM
I played Roulette on a casino three days ago and it was obviously my first-time playing Roulette, I literally didn't understand my way out and I just knew I should select a number and click on spin. I did that obediently and time after time, I lost. I was really motivating myself with the next spin, and next and next, but all to no avail, I was lost in the ride until I drained my deposit for the day's gambling, that time It dawned on me that my Ignorance has contributed to my parallel losses for the day, I just logged out and ended that day's session disappointed.

Yesterday, I was discussing with my friend on my experience, and it was more obvious that my Ignorance played a major role in my bitter experience days before. It was after I was whipped badly that I went back and saw the demo option which I should've used to learn before I engaged. Also, I wish to advise all new gamblers to visit demo space in the casinos where you can learn before you start playing with real money cos I think it will help people master the games before engaging to have more fun, because not only did I lose money that day, but honestly, I didn't have any fun.

I would like to ask if some people here has experienced this too and what is the possibility that most people who experience repeated losses are Ignorant of the game play patterns.

Even if you had tried the demo option then it wouldn't have made much of a difference because it's roulette.
You spin and if you are lucky then you win the round. It's more of a luck based game.
So doing the demo wouldn't have changed your luck. But yeah, what you're saying holds good when you are playing a skill based game.

BTW, Bitcoin price is in the positive track since last two months. I think Bitcoin price will stay in the range of 45k to 50k at the end of December month. I have placed my bet on that range. Hopefully, Bitcoin will be able to cross the 45k mark within the next few days.

So far, it looks like the BTC price has been stuck around $44k. If we look at the chart, we can see that the BTC price has been consolidating in the range of $43,3k - $44,2k since December 20, which means that the BTC price is likely to go above $45k soon. But at the same time, if we look at the current number of bets on freebitcoin, it seems that many users expect the BTC price to stay in the range of $40k - $45k after all. I mean, there is still a little doubt that BTC will be able to get above $45k before December 31.

Damn, I missed it. Even I wanted to try my luck this time but completely forgot about the BTC price prediction.
I just looked at the odds and betting on the range of $40k - $45k was the obvious choice.
At 1.24x we could have easily got 24% returns in just 10 days if our prediction was right.
Anyway, let's see how it goes. A week left and the range is still intact.
There is no doubt obviously these are good odd@1.24x, but I have feeling most chances in coming days we can cross this and have good chance for the staying between $45K to $50K which is best for having I already have this and other like $40K to $45K to as well because from the start of December my concern was between these two figures and mostly analysis and other predictions were also indicating about this as well now we are in last few days lets watch what happen to this at the end.

Just 3 days left for the new year and the price is still in the range of $40k - $45k. I still think the price would remain in this range for the rest of the year.
I should have paid more attention to the dates and should have placed my bet on this range but alas I couldn't.
Anyway, I hope the others who have placed the bet on this range wins the round.

It is true, that the value of the tokens has only go downwards and there is no real reason why it suddenly would go up. While I love freebitco.in, I feel like there is not a lot going on with the development of the FUN tokens and I think we all expected more from it.

The market isn't always rational and occasionally we get some really big pumps like the one from a few weeks ago when the price went up by more than double. This has significantly cut my losses and I expect that next year I will turn a profit. The token still needs more exposure and utility. I'm sure they're aware of some of these shortcomings and hopefully we will see some improvement in the new year.

That pump certainly helped and the value is still here than it was before, but compared to the BTC prize, the prize is still very low. Right now, it is again trading at around 18 satoshis, while when it got launched the initial price was above 100 satoshis. While we might see some improvement, I doubt that that price will be reached again anytime soon.

If the freebitcoin team hadn't noticed the FUN token and integrated it into its site, the FUN token's price would have been much worse now, and it's unlikely that anyone would have been interested in it.
Obviously, if users lock their FUN tokens on the site, then 17-18 sats is not the price they would like to see. However, I think there is still a possibility that the FUN token could go back above 100 sats after the BTC halving and the subsequent bull run in the market.

That would be great, but just a bullrun will not be sufficient to drive the prize over 100 satoshis, I think. Because it needs to clearly outperform the bitcoin prize before we will see a prize like that. Everything is possible in crypto offcourse but even if the prize would be able to hit 50-60 satoshis, than a lot of members will already be happy with that.

18 satoshis is still very low considering that it was around 45 satoshis when BTC price was around $45k in Sep 2021.
Right now BTC price is around $42k yet FUN token is still only 18 satoshis.
Even I have locked FUN tokens for a year and I hope the price recovers to atleast above 40 sats.
346  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does signature Campaign Sponsors make their money on: December 27, 2023, 04:11:16 PM
Often times I keep wondering how signature campaigns sponsors get their funds considering the huge amount of money they pay campaign members of their various Signatures and Avatars because some of the Signature Sponsors Refills their Escrow Funds on a weekly or monthly basis.

I want to know how advertising their Avatars and Signatures provides funds for the sponsors or is it that they just actually want their Signatures or their Avatars to be advertised to the public?

Most of the signature campaigns have a product/site to advertise. When a campaign is launched, the product/site is advertised all over the forum.
People start noticing it and then use it. So a little portion of income directly comes from the forum users.
People also start making referrals and eventually the product/site gets utilized more.
As long as they product/site owners are satisfied with the results they keep running the campaign.
347  Local / India / Re: Beware of fake trading apps! on: December 27, 2023, 03:59:16 PM
Not just trading but also gambling apps. There are people trying to advertise gambling apps where people make huge profits.
Once users deposit money in it and win money they get scammed when they try to withdraw the money.

One of my relative has his money stuck in fantasy cricket app (I don't consider fantasy games anything less than gambling). He started using those because in them there is low competition in contests compared to established apps like dream11.
Would not suggest these apps to anybody. I know this becomes like an alternative to sports betting and so on and since the government does not allow gambling openly, these predatory apps are trying to catch the demanding people.

Still, a lot of scams can happen and in general a risk these apps are. Tell them to avoid these, that is the maximum you can do from your side.

Some time ago there was a gambling app which hired popular celebrities who were promoting the app like anything.
Honestly, I don't believe in such apps and hesitate to download such apps on my phone. I prefer gambling on desktop.

You can see different kind of trading apps promoted by influencers in social media platform like youtube, Instagram and most of them won't be available in Play store which itself a red flag and why we should not install them at any cost. But a lot of people install such apps and try trading and lose their money.

Even though Indian government is trying to ban such apps and give strong warning to the people who are promoting them, still we can see stories, and I am reminding you this now after reading such story on reddit.

Quote
Hello fellow members of CryptoIndia , my dad is super new to crypto and was introduced to it by a certain friend of a friend roughly 2 weeks ago. Even in these novice stages he bought-sold usdt worth 50k-100k inr multiple times and claimed to make a profit of 3-4k inr each time.

So please ask people to stay away from these scammers who are constantly targeting Indian youngsters who are just starting their trading/investment career.

Not just trading but also gambling apps. There are people trying to advertise gambling apps where people make huge profits.
Once users deposit money in it and win money they get scammed when they try to withdraw the money.
Same goes with trading apps. There are people who promote trading apps which offers huge bonuses but are apps to scam other users.
Every newbie should do a research on which app to use before they decide to deposit their money in any app.

350  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Starting as a Bitcoin Blogger on: December 22, 2023, 02:54:35 PM
Seasons greetings to all members of the forum and happy Christmas in advance. Not too long the year will come to an end and I have been thinking since I started this forum and have started learning much about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I have decided to take a bold step in starting a life as a blogger in Bitcoin specifically. It's difficult to know how to start, but i have started watching video lessons on blogging and the first thing I was asked to do is to create an account on some blog sites like Medium, Wordpress, Wix and Tumblr. I know some people may be wondering why i have to share it here.

The thing is i need encouragement, insights and resources that will help me grow and successfully achieve this goal. By next year i want to be officially a Bitcoim blogger because am proud and i feel like one now  Cheesy

Perhaps i can find a mentor here.

Blogging is more like writing content. Content creators have a good scope especially these days where people are earning huge through platforms like YouTube and Instagram.
It doesn't necessarily have to be blogging sites alone. You can also create short Instagram posts where you can upload a very small summary about your blogs.
It all depends on how creative you are. Do something unique and people will start following you.
351  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A piece of advise to everyone. on: December 22, 2023, 02:49:13 PM
I've observed a little mistakes that newbies like me usually make during conversations here in the forum. I have made this mistake here before, I suppose it was my first thread I created in this forum where I was arguing about some rubbish I thought I knew about.

Newbies/beginners and senior colleagues too do make this mistake of arguing with people in conversations that are not worth arguing about. Instead of responding to some quote where you were corrected you can just learn and remain silent than make some blind arguments that can lead to more wilder conversation that will either be out of point from the actual discussion.
Most times I see people creating enemies for themselves because they want to prove a point that they know some bull shit.

I will advise my fellow beginners to respect some correction and not make arguments just to prove yourself knowledged. instead of arguing you can just learn without quoting them back and blabbing rubbish. even till now some senior colleagues are still arguing with themselves because they feel they have the knowledge which someone is try to inculcate in them.

Don't make a fool of yourself trying to prove a point for some nonsense reputation that nobody gives a fuck about.

Just a friendly advise..

Lol  Grin That is quite true. I have myself come across few people on this forum who blindly get into a discussion and start arguing.
I don't even care to reply them but some times such debates also convert into a healthy discussion where one gets to learn a lot of things.
Whenever there was someone correcting me, I used to give it a thinking and reconsider my post and do a little research.
I would gladly accept his point if it was valid and there's no harm in doing that.
352  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New crypto stealer: Rhadamanthys Stealer malware on: December 22, 2023, 02:41:59 PM
This Stealer malware has improved throughout the years and now it's getting more dangerous than ever, from banking trojan to crypto stealing wallet.

Quote
Highlights

- The Rhadamanthys stealer is a multi-layer malware, sold on the black market, and frequently updated. Recently the author released a new major version, 0.5.0.
- In the new version, the malware expands its stealing capabilities and also introduces some general-purpose spying functions.
- A new plugin system makes the malware expandable for specific distributor needs.
- The custom executable formats, used for modules, are unchanged since our last publication (XS1 and XS2 formats are still in distribution).

And it has evolved to target more crypto related wallets:

And as per usual the methods to spread this is thru torrents, warez, malvertizing, Youtube videos and other channels.

So as much as possible stay away from those sites, do not download any fake softwares. Everyone should be very careful more than ever as criminals are very much into our space right now and we don't want to be the next victim here.

https://research.checkpoint.com/2023/rhadamanthys-v0-5-0-a-deep-dive-into-the-stealers-components/

Good to see that Mycelium is not on the list but the list is huge and many other popular names are included in the list which is quite concerning.
It's good that you have shared the list because many people download these wallets like Electrum, Atomic wallet, Exodus etc...
Fake softwares are all over the internet and this is reason why it is always recommended to download softwares from official websites only.

It's best to stick to what you are doing and avoid any unnecessary chats with crypto strangers.
That we would eliminate half of the scams approaching us. Also, we have to stay with the trend and keep reading news.
By doing that we can stay up to date with latest scams and hacks. Yes, we have to do our due diligence to save ourselves from scams.
354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin miners extorting people that are making transaction? on: December 21, 2023, 05:17:25 PM
My friend wanted to make a transaction but it was in the midnight and I was unable to respond to him fast as he was looking for a cheaper way to do it. In the morning, I woke up and he told me that he used almost $10 to make the transaction. He said that miners are extorting people.

I can defend almost everything people are talking about bitcoin before but I was unable to say anything today. We can say it is not really caused by miners but bitcoin developers which have been unable to make bitcoin mempool not to be too much congested.

Did what my friend said somehow right? Is high transaction fee extortion?

Some people will say that the more money miners see the more they will want to increase their hash rate and the stronger the blockchain.

Bitcoin is decentralized and if bitcoin transaction fees is getting increased it means there are people on the other side who are willing to pay higher fees.
As long as there are people paying higher fees to get their transactions processed then the miners won't take low fee transactions for processing.
In such cases, we can only wait till the tx fees are back to normal or increase the tx fee ourselves.
We cannot call it miners' extortion but the demand for bitcoin transactions and that's how it works.
355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is fun, watching with bet or without a bet? on: December 21, 2023, 05:08:58 PM
Just trying to get the communities opinion based on their experience about the topic.

Personally, a a bettor, I find it very stressful when watching the game you are betting especially if it will end up a losing bet.

If we have the same experience, how do you cope up with that problem, after all, gambling should be fun but why we have this kind of feeling that we feel disappointed when our bet loses?

Ofcourse we will feel disappointed because at the end we think of a probability to occur and hope that it happens and when it doesn't then it creates a short term impact on our mind.
But it also depends on us whether we let it affect us or not. We shouldn't bet high amounts which creates huge impact on us.
Betting limited amount so that we can actually have fun watching the game is more preferable.
356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Local Base Or International Based Online Casino on: December 21, 2023, 05:03:13 PM
Two years ago e-sabong or online cock fighting has become so popular in our country that many people who do not play online learned how to play online because of this game after our government shut down this online betting a new local online betting game will soon launch that is expected to make millions of profits from the same creator of online cockfighting and this is called Apple white or Apple Red a spin-off from the popular color game or slots

Quote
The rules are simple: participants select either a red or white apple, and the outcome is determined by three spinning wheels. A P100 bet can result in a P280 win if all three spinners land on the same color.

Similar to E-Sabong, players are faced with only two choices, and matches unfold every five minutes, running continuously for 24 hours, with a brief one-hour break. However, in contrast to E-Sabong, every match concludes with a clear winner, with no draws, and importantly, no fighting cocks are harmed

From cockfights to cocktails

This local online game will soon become so popular that local gamblers who play on international online casinos will prefer to play here because it is easy to fund the app and there are physical betting stations too like karaoke bars and gaming hubs.

Do you have similar games in your country and if there are popular local online games what will you prefer local or international-based
snip

As far as I remember the government stopped esabong  because of animals getting harmed isn't it ?
Playing games like red apple and white apple are similar to flipping a coin but the major concern is whether the outcome is truly random.
There are casino sites which scam their users and so we should always play on those which uses the provable fair algorithm.
I am not sure whether the casinos in my country has similar games because I prefer online casinos for gambling.
I usually prefer casino sites which has the provable fair algorithm in place.
357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risk management and responsible gaming on: December 21, 2023, 04:56:25 PM
The government's role in gambling addiction is complicated. Our legislators must defend public health, but their reach is limited. Your thesis about society influencing gambling is correct. Certain actions were accepted in our upbringing, affecting our views and choices. Not merely warning about dangers, but identifying the core reasons.

As you say, parent collaboration may be crucial. Many parents notice changes in their children's conduct first. They can prevent addiction first. Effective communication and awareness are key to this technique. Parents must know how to spot gambling addiction and get help.

Gambling addiction demands complex treatment. The community, not just the government or parents, is involved. Educational, supportive, and accessible mental health treatments are needed to address this issue. Never underestimate the power of collective action to improve society.

While children's gambling habits can still be monitored by their parents, it becomes difficult when adults fall addicted to gambling.
In most cases, their family only identifies the habit when he has already become addicted to it.
The best thing is to do is for the individual to become self aware and manage the risk appetite.
Either we should become responsible towards gambling or never gamble at all.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are successful gamblers seen as addicts? on: December 21, 2023, 04:26:56 PM
I wish I could have posted this in a more better place but since the thoughts came from gambling addiction, I thought it wise to ask this question over here and I hope we can discuss and get this straight.

Just as the tittle already ask, I really want to know if people who are successful in gambling also seen as addicts because I believe  for one to be successful in gambling or whatever they choose to do, there must be some good amount  of time and effort invested in it as well as money and we know that a successful  gambler must have invested  both time, effort and even money to make any reasonable  winning  and these also are features of an addict as there are always excessive time spent on a betting site.

Now let's be sincere, will you also classify a successful gambler as an addict?
In today's society, people who are addicted to gambling are very little trusted and liked by people. And when people see a successful gambler, society thinks that he is addicted to winning and has lost his physical and mental balance inside. But actually this is not the right thinking at all because a successful gambler is never an addict because he spends both money and time to win and also puts in a lot of effort. Both gamblers only try hard to succeed and invest their money for that purpose, but here they are not so much addicts. If they had become so addicted, they would never have gone ahead and invested such money and efforts, and I think a gambler always aims to succeed by putting his own efforts into action.

Even I think that those who are successful gamblers cannot be seen as addicts. In fact they are the survivors.
If they were addicts then they would be keeping on playing and losing money.
Since they have become successful, they would have found way to control their emotions and manage the risks in gambling.
Such people cannot be called as addicts from my perspective.

Perhaps the word success is meant in this context and more precisely is success or success in managing the gambler's own finances and self-control which means that they know what to do and what not to do when in certain situations, the success referred to is not success in general which is like people achieving success in the business world which means that there is a high point that has been reached, because of course in gambling there are no stages other than coming with money as capital and going home with an answer between winning or losing.

Another thing is that of course I quite agree with your idea that successful gamblers cannot be called addicts, which actually there is a significant difference if we dig deeper, successful gamblers are as I and you have mentioned that they manage their gambling activities well so that they do not cause many problems in their lives, especially in their finances, while addicted gamblers they simply cannot miss a single time not to gamble, which means they are excessive and have an approach that can be said to be aggressive, so maybe I think another word for successful gamblers is those who are smart.

Certainly. Success in gambling can have different meanings. For some, being a successful gambler can be just winning money.
For some, it can be managing their expenses and not lose a lot of money. For some, it can be playing regularly.
A lot of it depends on the context and a lot of it depends on the players perspective. So the answer to OP's question cannot be really answered.
The question itself depends on ones' perspective and so the answer would determine the context of the question.

Child boards (except Mining) are filled with spam which is the reason why many of us here tend to avoid it.
