161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Burstcoin [BURST] Price Speculation on: January 24, 2017, 11:14:49 PM
Wow Burst up almost 15% right now!
(Not even taking into account the rise in price of BTC.)
Any news/ developments?

Burst for me is a big discovery,I have been to to many altcoins but I'm not mining any of them via pow all my coins are pos algos but the discovery of Burst made me want to mine I'm planning to set up my mining rigs,it's not actually complicated because you're going only to use your hard drive to mine Burst.

You're going to kill your hard drive mining burst. I burned out 2 external 1TB drives, good thing they were under warranty.

After that I stopped mining burst since you're mining pennies unless you invest in 60TB or more. Its just not worth it, cheaper to buy the coins outright.

Sounds like you got a bad hard drive.  I've been mining 12 TB 24/7 for about the last 4 months...100k coin approximately.  Not a single hiccup.

i really like this coin.. its the only coin that can be mined by your average joe with a computer. Definately holding some longterm

No question it has longterm potential.

Thought I'd revive this thread a bit, because there are some interesting things coming for BURST, which I think will make people very happy.

What does everyone think about BURST in 2017, I for one, though biased, am very positive Cheesy

Care to be more specific on what's coming in 2017?

I have told everyone that I will not be doing any more pre-announcements. But There is a video that I did recently with mention of a few new platforms that I am having built now, that are almost complete.

There is much more, that I will mention more when it gets closer. But it's going to make people very pleased, I'm sure.

I've also got some very big partnerships that I'm forming, and new assets coming to the market, which will have not only a solid return, but also a price-supporting mechanism by default.

New features in the wallet, new sites with exploration for assets, statistics for assets, and a new site that has that and more for specific assets.

Promotional campaigns, and more how-to videos, and simpler interfaces are also on the list of things that are being done now. I will post more information when other things are finalized and being started.

Sounds great.  Thanks.

It's worth doing if you already have the spare hard drive space, but it does NOT make sense to buy additional drives for BURST mining - even the low-cost-per-TH drives like the Seagate Archive series (which should work VERY well on Burst) would take FOREVER to pay off, with a significant chance of "dead drive" before it managed to do so.

I guess it depends on short term vs long term perspective and where one thinks BURST is going.

By dead drive...you mean strictly from mining BURST?  I know of people that have resold drives after mining a ton of BURST over time.   So that has to be factored in as well.

Not specifically from mining burst, but just that drives DIE over time - and drives made in the last decade seem to be a bit less reliable on a long-term basis vs many older drives.
Burst doesn't seem to put a lot of load on the drive once it's plotted.

Yeah...I don't think at all based on my experience.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is anyone actually turning a profit with BURST mining? on: January 19, 2017, 05:28:51 AM
I've been mining BURST for about eight months now and found 214 blocks as of today.  http://burstcoin.biz/address/17643277032552720391

Built a multi-coin mining rig with three video cards and 60TBs of drives shoehorned in a full tower case.  ETH or ZEC on the GPUs, BURST on the HDD, and whatever is profitable on the CPU.  That tower is also staking CLAMs and running various Poloniex bots!

Most of the drives I found cheap on eBay.  Spent more than I should on a few enterprise-grade drives but they keep their resale.  The payout per day in dollars is low and getting lower.  Block reward drops 5% every month.  Like all things the rich are those who got in early.  I tend not to keep the coins but prefer to either invest in the BURST marketplace or flip them on Polo.  Bots ignore BURST as it isn't traded on margin.  I'll flip any given amount by 1.5-2% every few hours when the market is sideways.  Converting to BTC isn't all bad as long as you find another way to reinvest the BTC.

BURST is energy efficient as long as the computer is already on for other reasons.  Don't power a PC for BURST alone.  Mining on a phone is dumb - you'll see way more from faucets.

No moral to this story; just sharing my experience.

You're using the BURST marketplace to buy thing or investing on the BURST asset exchange to get a ROI?

If the price doubled, that would change, but at this point the ROI payoff is measured in YEARS.

If you're building a new machine anyway, it might make sense to "oversize" the drive a bit, but otherwise no IMO.

On the up side, for those few of us that still have some 32-bit OS machines, the Java client WILL work on a 32-bit Java installation - one of the very FEW coins mineable at all on a 32-bit system.

How long does it take for plotting?
I am plotting 2 TB hard drive

little bit impatience  Cheesy

Have to be patient ...it takes time.  You can also plot some, start mining and continue to plot if you like.

Please tell me how to start mining that currency? I would gladly tried to do so. I liked it and get these coins I would not be opposed. Do I need a powerful computer to do this or you can do this on any website or server?

Main BURST forums - http://web.burst-team.us

You can get a wallet there and a lot of info and links to videos to start mining (you can do a Google or youtube search also).

Basically you need to plot free hard drive space....the more the better.  It takes a little time to plot, but the process is pretty easy.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is anyone actually turning a profit with BURST mining? on: January 18, 2017, 01:37:26 PM
So I have to allocate loads of storage for mining, but not for the burst coins themselves correct?

I could easily plug up 2TB's into my computer for but unless this has promise to grow in value it doesn't seem like its worth setting up

Not you don't store the coins on your computer.  It does take some time to plot your hard drive but overall I found it very easy.  I mine 24/7 and even mine BURST in the background of one of my work computers I use day to day.  Have mined about 80,000 coin in about 3 months.

To others.  Yes...if your just looking to mine and dump  BUSRT the price is not that high today.  But I happen to think it's a project with great potential and the price may rise significantly in the future.  Just my opinion.

if you think so then just buy the coin, no need to waste time and money for few satoshi

you can easily buy 100k burst with 0.075 btc and wait for the pump

I have bought a bunch of it as well.  Mining is a fun way to participate in the community for me...although I may ramp up my TB (currently only 12 TB)  significantly at some point.

I love Burst, its an amazing project with a great GUI wallet and some really cool ideas,
but I'm wondering if anyone out there is actually MAKING money by mining this coin, or if its purely for speculation that the price will go up?
(Price is currently 63 satoshi on Poloniex as I write this.)

Even with the decreasing cost of hard drive storage, you need many Terrabytes of space to get any results.
Hoping someone with a large setup can post their cost of equipment, the amount of coins they are getting, and their expected ROI.

I don't have a big rig (12 TB), but I'm mining, strategically buying quite a bit....and I'm holding.  I see big things coming from BURST, seems like a missed opportunity just to dump on an exchange.  The HDD mining is very cool though.

I know that doesn't answer you question, but just my view.

Hello,

A have one 2TB hard drive over and i am plotting the miner for mining.
Meanwhile i am looking around at burst like the Asset exchange.
Looked around on the burst website and burst forum.

When i was on the burst forum i saw not so much activity on the topic assets.
Are the most assets dead right now or are there some assets alive.
Can somebody give me some hints for assets to look at.

kind regards,

Huh?  I looked at the forums today...there's huge activity, many posts about assets.  Are you sure you were in the right place?

https://forums.burst-team.us/category/6/asset-exchange

watched this forum

Yes...there are all kinds of posts on current assets on there.  Scroll down...there are some things thumbtacked to the top....recent posts are below.

What about reducing the tx fee, any thoughts about it?
This would be awesome for the future, but without a fork it's generally not possible right?
Often i think the high fee is the only "bad" thing at Burstcoin.

I really love Burst, but i wonder how it can survive with this high fee... maybe i am wrong?  Huh

Greets  Kiss

To send 100,000 BURST from the wallet, the transmission fee is 10 BURST I think.  In terms of USD it's  .005...in other words a fraction of a penny right now.

But I think should BURST suddenly rise a lot the TX fees can be reduced.

selling approx 40 external hard drives please note these were bought at an auction less than a month ago all packaged up, i have opened to mine burst and sell while mining

long story short I bought these from an auction in the packets and since I have opened them and commenced my BURST mining, its a mixed lot of well branded external hard drives

I am also looking to pass a few on, If anyone wants some please contact me

http://imgur.com/a/oZi9w

1TB: External Hard Drive Shipped World Wide: 0.05btc
2TB: External Hard Drive Shipped World Wide: 0.085btc

there is definitely wiggle room if someone wanted a bulk order

Escrow not a problem

Out of curiosity...so you stopped mining BURST?  Or cut back on the rig you were building?

Until now I do not know about the transaction explode, because in a single burst transaction can take 1-4 hours, it is very inefficient in the currency and if in the future be used as a means of payment I am sure this will not succeed. Sorry I just ask, and do not intend to Fud, thanks

Not my experience at all.  As others have stated withdrawing from Poloniex can take some time, but that's on the exchange.

Every other transaction I've done with BURST the max time was a couple of minutes.

Interesting opinions.  Can I ask how much BURST you own (roughly if you care to share)?  Are you mining?  Have you invested in any assets?

Just trying to get an idea of your actual involvement in BURST.

I own a small amount of burst: at least 1 million
I don't mine and I own 0 assets

Burst, the same as bitcoin is a decentralised project, so anyone can be involved whether they own the coin or not

Yes, I understand that (decentralized project)...just wondering your situation as you had some strong opinions.
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] -NEW BURST OP- MINE ANY FREE SPACE-(HDD MINING)- ATs, AE, P2P MARKET+MORE! on: January 10, 2017, 04:50:56 AM
How many more assets are you planning to release Crowetic?

It doesn’t make sense imho to keep releasing one asset after another without actually looking at whether the assets that you have released in the past are actually benefiting the asset holders (apart from the usual I am gonna pay out a bonus BS). It would be nice if you could actually take a step back and publish some sort "financial details", so far your main selling point seems to be "trust me I am crowetic, invest with confidence"
I am sorry to break it to you but many people myself included are in crypto because of the decentralised and trustless nature of it.

I took a quick look at few of the assets you run and it wasn’t a pretty sight so I am quite intrigued to find out what gives you such a high level of confidence in that you are a “ successful asset” owner and operator.

Byteent: the most that you can return to investors over the next 10-12 years is 2,410,803 burstcoins (based on a pool fee of 2% and 25% of the network) and the current market cap of the asset is 70,000,000 burstcoins

Bsilver: is beyond dishonest in my opinion, it currently has a market cap of 100,000,000 burstcoins, you are telling your investors that they can claim 1000 assets for 1oz of silver, using the current prices that works out to be around 100*1000*0.00000058 * $905 (coindesk BPI) = $52
1oz of XAG with 20% premium currently costs  $20

The other thing that bewilders me about this asset is that every sane and insane person in crypto expects that bitcoin, burstcoin et al will outperform all precious metals and more so when you are valuing your silver at $52 given that the all time high was actually less than $50, isn’t that funny

Burstaker: has a market cap of around 60,000,000 burstcoins, this asset is quite astonishing for mainly 2 reasons, the first one is actually the quality of the coins you chose to stake, Viral and DMD, both coins have been on the bittrex removal list quite few times, they have negligible amounts of volume on average. And secondly who in their right mind would sell burstcoin for those two. The cynic in me tells me that you were bagholding both and you couldn’t sell so you decided to dump your dead bags for an asset and take the more liquid burstcoin from a trusting community.

I won’t get into your worldmine asset as I want to give you the benefit of the doubt

There are other sorts of behaviour that I think are quite dishonest too, trading your own assets and also transferring quite big amounts to people without actually going through the asset exchange nor announcing the sales on forums for the sake of transparency, never talking about actually how you would go about liquidating these assets and what % of burstcoins will go back to the asset holders, how much of the assets' burstcoins you have sold, and what price  and not adhering to Haich's list of asset issuance requirements .....etc

I believe that you have done quite a lot for burstcoin and I am pretty sure that you have done quite well with it too

I like the idea of the asset exchange but I honestly believe that it is in a huge bubble and ultimately the bubble will burst (no pun intended) and when it does it will be the small shareholders who will suffer the most and my fear is that burstcoin will suffer as a result of that just like what happened with dogecoin and Moolah aka Ryan Kennedy.

Unfortunately the exponential rise in price in september has attracted a lot of bad characters so my humble advice to my fellow burstcoin holders is do your due diligence, don’t get caught in the hype. Invest your burstcoin in projects that bring added value to the coin and there are few good examples such as burstize and burst casino and few others.

Best of luck to you all and happy new year

I would say buy all burst you can get while is still so crazy cheap!

I agree because we may never see these low prices again. I buy as much Burst as I can each week and have been for 6 months now and have built up a nice stack as well as a nice amount of assets.

Me too.  I've been mining, but buying up a ton of BURST at these low prices!
