What is the reason for this drop in the price of a coin? It is said that the main developer of the coin left with Burst!

Not true.  While there has been some drama in burst... all coins/alts are getting hammered.

Crowetic raised some issues in his goodbye message, which look important. Nobody tried to respond. Some claimed that he is a selfish fraud, but this is a very cheap response.

Do not forget that cryptocoins do NOT assume any sort of trust between parties. Being a selfish fraud is perfectly ok, and is rewarded with money on success.

If there is somebody who is really working on burst now, I would like to see a detailed response from them to the issues that crowetic raised, like lack of security and scalability of the network. I want to see an argument, not howls about that crowetic is bad.

Crowetic was not a dev, not a coder he's an organizer and I've personally heard many devs are happy he's leaving.  It's a FACT he used investor money to try and short the coin for his own gain (and failed miserably).  It's a fact he took BURST that was designated to go to BURST developers and was conspiring to use it for another project (non BURST).  It's a fact he was taking investor funds to buy hardware for his assets that he specifically promised investors it would be running for years and paying returns... only to find a few months later he's doing a "buyback" at a fraction and keeping all the equipment.  And you can find videos and endless posts from him pro BURST... saying the tech is great, BURST is incredibly undervalued, on and on... basically the complete opposite of his flaming post.  So which is it?  That's the tip of the iceberg.  Quite frankly if someone wanted to pursue it, this guy could end up in jail.

So if you don't think that has a lot to do with his post, then I guess you've never witnessed a disgruntled employee leaving a company for his next opportunity and taking shots on the way out because he's bitter?  The dude is acting like a complete jerk.

I won't comment on the tech aspects not really my realm.  But BURST is based on NXT.  NXT has what been up to a 250 - 300 million market cap?  Did anyone tell them?  And BURST like just about every other project needs growth and development.  I can post worst case scenarios too... many have for BTC for years.  If I gave you a chance to go back and buy BTC at $2 would you refuse because it will eventually have scaling issues it has to deal with (which it does)?  Point being BURST has HUGE room for growth before anything needs to happen.  And that time it will be addressed.

But if you have technical questions go to burst-team.us I'm sure someone can chime in there.

I think Burst needs a rehaul to get rid of botnets and become more secure, hopefully the core dev team are working on a solution.

Agreed. But people running the show seem to have no interest in doing that. Are the core team even actively doing anything?

As i know, early dev abandon project. Now i don't know if anyone is working on development..  Roll Eyes Huh
I think Crowetic was lead dev, after original dev abandoned the project, but Crowetic said, what he is leaving this project. This is the reason of price drop right now

Meh, Crow was never a "dev". He didn't contribute to any githubs, only created and ran assets.

However, there are indeed real devs, and they are indeed working on some things. BTCtalk is the last place to get good updates though. Check the forums: https://forums.burst-team.us/

Crowetic is a selfish fraud.  Tried to short the coin using investor money, lost a ton of his burst and his position and respect in the community.  Bitter dude blaming his problems on everything and everyone but himself.

Sounds like you haven't heard of his assets' "buyback" price. Literally stealing people's burst.

"Buy my asset for 180 BURST... and I promise it will be one the best performing assets for at least three years on the BURST platform."  "Wait... I got embarrassed in the community and I have the chance to take over a dead coin (again)... so I'll give you 6 BURST back and I'm out in here".

The guy's leadership and decision making is a joke... Qora people should know the truth about him.

Hello Guys,

We start mining Burst few days ago, but when I'm watching this: http://burstcoin.biz/charts/mined-burstcoins
We can see only 16% of burstcoin are unmined, it's really poor no?

thx

Fyi... it will take something like 7 years to mine those.  And then mining will continue through transaction fees as rewards.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternate Proof of Capacity Currencies? on: June 29, 2017, 09:30:44 PM
I'm a small miner of BURST (12 TB)... and think it's great.  Although the difficulty has been going up in recent months (along with the price)... which of course means more and more people are becoming interested.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burstcoin | Efficient HDD Mining | New Version 1.2.8 | Assets | CFs on: June 29, 2017, 12:27:21 AM
web wallet specified on topic start donot work

faucet http://burstcoin.biz/faucet do not work too, 30 minutes trying, the same result - "wrong captcha".

new faucet do not work too http://faucet.burstcoin.info/

why so many problems at start?

There have been a lot of attacks lately impacting things fyi.  Online wallets at burstnation.com (under "burst tools") tend to be reliable to log in.

Faucets get abused and run dry... you might have to post your burst address and have someone send you a couple of coins.

Are there any wallets that do not need the blockchain?
I am a few days trying to make the official wallet work, but the blockchain always the problem at some point of the download and I need to clean the database, nor the online wallet I can access with my access key.

I would like to try to mine that coin, but it's hard to start!

Can I mine without using my official wallet?

Sorry for bad english!

Download the bootstrap blockchain from http://burstwallet.io/burstcoin-blockchain-download/ that should get you going fast.

This tutorial is also helpful https://steemit.com/burst/@jackmanmania/how-to-mine-burst-coin if you haven't figured out all the details yet.

Thank you xizmax

I'll try with this blockchain and see if I will not have more error

The process itself, I managed to understand already seeing some videos, but my doubt is, can I mine without having the blockchain?

You can also use the online wallet.

So let me see if I am missing something.

Do I need minimum of Bursts coints to be able to get revenue?

To invest in assets you do.  Think of the asset exchange on BURST like it's own stock exchange.  You can buy into projects with the expectation of a ROI.  You are giving up your BURSTS for shares in the asset.  Like any investment do your due dilligence and make sure you know what you're investing in.

This is like an entire world..

So every one can make assets? how do you decide who to invest on? is it like a platform?

Anyone can make an asset.  As far as what to invest in... people have reputations... you need to do some research.  Like on eBay would you deal with someone new that was selling with no reputation?  Or a bad reputation?

A lot of the projects are mining operations right now... mining BURST or other coins and converting to BURST. People buy shares and share in the profit.

That being said... you don't have to buy or do anything with the asset exchange.  It's just one aspect of BURST.

Android wallet does not work, neither the web wallet. On android I have just a blank screen all the time, while the web wallet, during registration, claims that a passphrace I've entered is not the same I was provided with.

Why isn't burst more popular? I believe it's a great idea.

Web wallets at burstnation.com seem to be up (It's under tools I think)... as someone else said there can be a delay once paraphrase is entered.

Regarding paraphrase... make sure it's EXACT when you enter it... no extra spaces etc.  The paraphrase is your wallet.

Regarding why BURST isn't more popular... it really had no marketing up until 4 - 5 months ago.  I still think it's tremendously undervalued.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: June 22, 2017, 12:48:03 PM
I was not able to find any infos on what Burst is trying to accomplish other than being "green" while minting.

What can you do with it? I don't get it. It looks like a snowball scheme tbh

What do you mean... what can you do with It?  It's a crypto coin, you can buy and trade on the exchanges... convert to BTC and USD if you chose.  There are a couple of gambling sites you can use BURST .... BURST Casino and Bitsler.  BURST has its own asset exchange where you can invest in projects and earn a ROI.  There's a marketplace (still needs developing).  Of course the cool mining aspect... and more in the future.

This is what I mean. There are already 80% minted. We have a global value of around 26Million Dollar, and this only because of the general increase of all alts.

9-12 weeks ago it was around 2-3 million market cap.  You don't have retail stores using Burst, you don't have a function like PPC or NMC where you got a "real world problem" solved by using these coins.

The only value you have (as i see it) is for trading and even that is more or less only profitable the last 3 months.

Having 2 casinos  (maybe more) accepting Burst (or maybe they are based on burst) is not really a success story of the coin, especially if its on the market for years....

Thats why I ask. The only positive factor I can see so far is that the minting is done on very very low electricity, making it somehow green.

But please tell me if I am wrong and there are in fact more real life usages for this coin except trading and gambling on it. If that is all for the long run, I don't see a reason to invest in HDD or the coin itself.

And this is not a rant on it, a friend asked me about it and I just want to learn more about it. I am not familiar with all the sub 500m$ Coins.

But what you're saying... how many crypto coins can it be applied to?  How many retail stores accept any crypto coin?  Heck I've never walked into a store anywhere and saw that they accept Bitcoin even.

I guess we evaluate thing differently.  I started mining and investing in BURST (and am up 30x) because it is unique.  The HDD/green/eco friendly is a big thing imo... and I'm a very small miner, but as an investor I see it as an angle that will attract people to the coin.  BURST also has a very strong (and fast growing community)... which is huge imo.  If you haven't browse the two BURST website/forums and see the activity and ideas for yourself.

Add in the fact BURST had almost zero marketing efforts until 4 - 5 months ago and I still think it's a coin at a fraction of it's potential.  Just one man's opinion.

No one knows how high the price will go.  60,000 sats is probably a little ambitious ... then again what will the world look like 5 years from now?  I've learned never to say never in crypto.

But in general, put me in the camp of BURST having huge upside... we'll see where it actually goes.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to mine any coin right now with laptop/computer ? on: June 18, 2017, 12:27:32 AM
Look into BURST/burstcoin... it uses free HDD space to mine.  Very energy efficient and eco/green friendly.  Two best sites for info... http://www.burst-team.us and burstnation.com.

How long is Burst still mineable?

Available/Total Supply
1.79 Billion / 2.16 Billion

Thanks

Estimate is until around 2024 (or maybe a bit longer)... after there will still be mining as the rewards with be the network fees.

Hi all, how does one join a Faucet to start mining with my hard Drives ?

2,158,812,800 coins total. It looks like too much, isn't it ?

That is also what it's capped at and won't get there for several years.  Currently at 1.7 billion+ in circulation.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burstcoin | Efficient HDD Mining | New Version 1.2.8 | Assets | CFs on: June 10, 2017, 12:40:01 AM
BTS Bitshares at 2.6 billion circulating supply at 9000 satoshi vs Burst (with smart contracts) at 1.7 billion circulating supply at 650 satoshi... Price  so low? What's going on?

It's called an investment opportunity.  Smiley

BURST has been growing significantly, it's not like it's going backwards... still a TON of upside imo.
