281  Other / Off-topic / Will the new BFL SC ASIC units work with p2pool? on: June 29, 2012, 12:07:43 PM
Will the new units have the same problem as the old Singles where it wouldn't stop working on a problem for 5 seconds making it useless for p2pool?
282  Other / Off-topic / Will the CGMINER developer get a loaner unit from BFL? on: June 29, 2012, 12:06:44 PM
Will the developer of CGMINER (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.0) get a unit to facilitate the development and testing with the ASIC hardware? It would be nice to have working third-party software when the ASICs ship so we don't have expensive paper weights.
283  Other / Off-topic / Re: Wondering where your BFL Singles are? on: June 28, 2012, 05:56:27 PM
FYI - this is a non debate.  Ours is an ESD protected environment.  I would agree with Inaba in terms of scale of concern, but it's not an issue either way.  Open board work is done with ESD Matts & pretty blue wrist straps.   (I feel icky for having stepped in to answer this at all)

Step 2 - forbid any photography by visitors because it might result in bad publicity.
284  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL refused to issue refund because it was paid with bitcoin (via Bitpay) on: June 27, 2012, 05:54:56 PM
After 9 days, the refund was received for the bitcoin (Bitpay) payment. Thank-you BFL.
285  Other / Off-topic / Re: Clarifications on BitPay invoice and receipt for BFL purchases on: June 26, 2012, 05:45:13 PM
This is an article that explains one of Bitcoin's advantages quite well (no fraud risk). Well done Bit-pay!

I also notice it is the first time that the name of Butterfly Labs CTO is disclosed in full: Nasser Gh Moeini. A little more transparency from BFL, like disclosing names of executives, would help increase trust...

First thing I did when I saw that is print a copy, just in case.  I believe his name is Iranian. Anyone confirm?

It "should" be easier

That's the problem with BFL. Yes it should be easier, but they don't respond to emails for days/weeks. This causes me to be placed at the end of the ASIC waiting list, even though I placed the order 2 hours after pre-orders went live. It has gotten to the point where I might just cancel my ~$5k worth of orders from BFL. Their customer service is absolute shit.

Your $5k is an insignificant drop in the ocean for them, there are people investing $100k each, and BFL spent atleast $1.5mil designing the ASIC, just because $5k is big for you doesn't mean it is big for them.
Like I said, if it's not about the money. Why don't they just hire somebody that could help them with the customer support?
I just find this all very shady.

They did hire somebody, but it seems like the customer service hasn't noticeably improved since the days when Sonny answered the emails.

Change thread title to indicate resolved status?

No refund has been made. I'll change it when it is really resolved.

Did you end up getting your refund?

No, at least they emailed me and said I would get one, but I'm still waiting. In the mean time, I can't order the SC's until they refund my bitcoin.

Dear Bitcoin Daddy,

We apologize for the time it has taken to process your request. This is mainly due to the huge number of emails we've received lately.
I must say that if your intention is to convert Bitcoin to SC, then you will not loose your place/priority as time goes by.

Regards,
BF Labs Inc.

I still haven't gotten the refund, it's been 8 days
Not sure what you mean - I have no place in line and when I finally get the refund, everyone else will be ahead of me.

The BFL Single has been sold. Thanks to everyone who bid.

Here's a more representative picture of the hash rate after running all night. You can see how much more it can do compared to a 5850 video card. I'll leave the bidding open until this evening.

290  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] BFL Single (Rev3) [SOLD] on: June 24, 2012, 06:50:55 PM
I have one BFL Single for sale, received May 31st.

It operates the 832 Mhs firmware and is stable. It includes the power adapter as supplied by BFL, although I've been running it off of my power supply.

Minimum bid is $599 (converted to Bitcoin - please bid in Bitcoin) since that is the trade-in value at BFL. I will sell to continental USA members only. Shipping and insurance is included.

PM me if you are interested.

My solution:

Open up a pre–order list from Monday till mid–july, then close it.

This will give everyone ample time to order

Make an inventory of what has been ordered and start producing exactly that amount

When all the pre–Orders have been produced, pack them and ship them off at the same day in october, be it jalapenos, singles or rigs.

That way everone will receive their products around the same time

This is the most fair proposal I've heard.

Faulty after 1 day ? not very impressive. Now what if the buyer is in Europe.

Yeah, doesn't inspire much confidence of their extensive "burn-in" testing...

It could have been jostled in shipping. The burn in may have went just fine.

Just to clarify, the refund policy applies to all payment methods.  Our CS clerk is only familiar with how to do this with PayPal as it's a simple click.  BTC, Bank wire & Dwolla require calculating the cost of transaction and subtracting that amount from the sum sent.  Our CSR has *NOT* refused anyone a refund, she only said she'd have to ask how to do it.

So, once again...  if you are looking for a refund, you can get one no matter the method of payment.

Glad to hear that she was misinformed. However, she never said she was looking into it. This is the only communication my brother received:

Code:
"I have refunded your PayPal order for 5 singles. The Bit-Pay order, however, is not refundable. --Jody"
296  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL refused to issue refund because it was paid with bitcoin (via Bitpay) on: June 21, 2012, 03:28:38 PM

We have processed refunds only if the merchant agrees.  And the refund is NOT the amount of bitcoins you initially paid.  It is the dollar equivalent.

Yes, that's clear. But I wonder if BFL understands they could issue the refund in dollars or by some other method. Since they won't return my phone calls and won't reply to email, I'll probably never know.
297  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL refused to issue refund because it was paid with bitcoin (via Bitpay) on: June 21, 2012, 03:03:38 PM
A few others had mentioned BFL not refunding for BTC purchases.  Caveat Emptor and all...

Would be pro-active of BFL if they more clearly noted that BTC transactions are non-refundable...
Then why the f*ck do they have a guarantee? And where was it stated on their webpage or the order form that there is no cancellation if you pay with bitcoin?
298  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL refused to issue refund because it was paid with bitcoin (via Bitpay) on: June 21, 2012, 03:02:36 PM
If you don't mind sharing, WHEN were your orders placed ? What was the Order Confirmation date for both orders ?

April 17.
299  Other / Off-topic / BFL refused to issue refund because it was paid with bitcoin (via Bitpay) on: June 21, 2012, 02:49:40 PM
My brother ordered 5 BFL singles with Paypal and 5 singles with bitcoin using Bitpay. He tried to cancel both orders.

BFL refunded the Paypal one, but refused to refund the Bitpay one saying it was non-refundable because it was paid with bitcoins.  WTF?  Angry
They missed their delivery guarantee by a lot. Can't they just issue a check? They could do Paypal too.

I also noticed they quietly removed the delivery guarantee from their website. Didn't it used to be on the right side of the order form?
Are they pretending it never existed?
Does anyone have a screenshot they can send me showing the guarantee for the inevitable lawsuit?
300  Other / Off-topic / Is this proof BFL mines real coins during testing? on: June 16, 2012, 11:54:36 AM
It shows them burning in the unit at Eclipse pool with userid burnin_butterfly_labs.
