Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NET] - The Browser Based Blockchain - Main net December - Liqui

Hope this is marketed well, nobody seems to know about it. Obviously hated electroneum's marketing but they did get a ton of people convinced that they were going to be able to mine on their phones and it wouldn't be controlled by giant mining pools etc. Which is kinda the initial niche Nimiq was going for.
We like to be a bit under the radar while we are fully prepared to launch the Mainnet. Our niche is not web mining, is a simple and scalable decentralized payment protocol native to the web, browser mining is just a feature Really good updates and engagement with the community. Very happy to see the project is going live soon (although the community expected it this month!). I am very curious to see all the features of this platform!

With bitcoin having such a big position in the market, in my opinion is pointless to dispose of money in ICOs, especially with those lacking of a clear project, roadmap and team support. Coin differentiation in strong projects is fine, but investing in something brand new and with no product development is quite risky at the moment.

Wouldn’t it be better for cryptokittens to have their own platform and blochain to run their game? Or won’t it have such a massive resonance it is receiving right now? Perhaps something like that on the waves platform would have been just right.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WooHoo - Bitcoin is taking a dive

Big media attention = fresh cash in the market -> price skyrockets. Two days later, whales sell and profit for a nice Xmas present. In two more days, new investors panic about their loss, they will sell at lower price and whales will get back in till 20k price.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No need for concern regarding volatility of prices

Volatility is good from a business point of view. Trades make their income with such swings. On the other hand, inexperience traders might see this as a bad thing and would prefer a more steady price to preserve the value of the assets. I would not be concerned about it, as long as you believe in the decisions made in the right selection of your coins.

Altcoins are not dying at all! However, there is too much correlation with the former bitcoin and they difficultly will decouple this bond. Nevertheless, if you look at the dollar/robust coin pairs, you will see a steady increase in price (ETH, LTC and dash for example), which translate in stron community support. Moreover, those altcoins are quite useful indeed for the overall environment.

The last two days have been horrible for the majority of cryptos. Even the bigger and more robust ones have lost pace against the escalation of the bitcoin price. The research into the next profitable coin has become more and more time consuming, but sometimes very worthy (see emc2 for example). I recommend to keep reading and up to date to gain steadily.

Economy / Web Wallets / Re: High fee to transfer from blockchain.info ($1.3k fee!!)
|
on: December 07, 2017, 10:49:31 PM

If you send your bitcoins from blockchain.info, just set the fees as custom and chose 183 sat/byte. You will pay only 0.00041 BTC as transaction fee, which is quite reasonable for a single transaction (or do you have ~300 wallets?). I am pretty sure the transaction will go through smoothly. See this chart below. As long as you don't pay 10 sat/byte, you should be fine, even though the recent number of txs has skyrocketed). https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#30d
