On July 25, FBI  seized all exchange equipment , servers and databases on them. (servers where Encrypted at the moment of seizing)



Strange. How does the FBI have access to and seizure powers in Russia? How can they simply go to that country and seize physical equipment and servers? Foreign governments should be more proactive in stopping these arrogant intrusions. Sovereignty is not something to be trifled with. The US seems to forget their place on this planet. It's no wonder they are despised and derided by most countries.

Thankfully I live in a country that has a strong anti-US position. I support this strongly.




What makes you think the servers were in Russia? I don't think that for a moment.

Both my email addresses that  I used for btc-e verification got that same email in the past 24hrs. it contained a suspicious .zip enclosure which I didn't bother to open.

I am almost sure BTC-E owners just think to compensate their loss . their target is sell alot of worthless tokens to members and make money .

its same thing i experience personally with UINVEST site in 2014 . after liberty reserve gone they didnt close site and continued and they invented a currency that named UPAY . They claimed UPAY WILL BE A great currency in the nearst future but all who buy this shit currency just got big loss and Finally they hidden for always . just remained Hundreds of thousands losers  .

you guys if they relunch just withdraw all your coins and never use them another time .


You obviously didn't bother to read their announcements. The tokens are IOUs that will eventually be redeemed, hardly worthless.

Bitfinex did a similar thing with their BFX tokens which were finally all redeemed in April this year.

What I don't understand is the 45% Token they are offering. I was all in ETH. Does that mean that if 45% of my ETH is worth $10k at current market rates, they are going to give me $10k in their token to spend on ETH or BTC or whatever? So I can just buy ETH again and be back where I was when they crashed? I would hope so...
The tokens are just IOUs, they will trade on the exchange and no doubt some people will dump them to get whatever coins they can fast, spoiling the price for everyone else of course. I will hold onto my tokens until they redeem an appropriate price.

It's a scam email, fishing for info etc, don't have anything to do with it.

It's just a re-post of their official announcement btc-e made on these forums a few hours ago.

What's the problem? (Other than that it suggests more delays before the exchange is active again)

Unfortunately that's what my source told me too . The USA did not get jack sheyt. If they did, it'd have been all over the news as in the past.

The BTC-e admin said that their servers that the FBI seized were encrypted.

I find it very surprising as well that they are issuing tokens for each individual crypto on the exchange.  It just adds so much exchange rate risk for them.  I'm really confused on why they don't just convert all crypto debt to USD debt at time-of-disruption exchange rates.  They'd be saving money and reducing risk.  It's what Bitfinex did, albeit the exchange rates didn't fluctuate as much as in the case of BTC-e.

They most likely think that people will want to trade tokens as if they were different coins. Also some coins have changed price dramatically since BTC-e went offline, so converting them to something like USD equiv would be unfair. It make more sense to say IOU 1BTC than it does IOU 1BTC worth of USD (you are not going to get because the fiat was seized) priced at the stale July 25th. exchange rate.

Also, what happens if they decide to launch without any USD coin pairs for safety?

ps: only if the token is 1/3 of its face value. I would be very happy to buy if it is below 0.33/usd

I bet a lot of people dump the tokens instead of waiting for redemption, that could make for some interesting bargains.

I would recommend staying away from USDT though, it can go under $1 at times and over $1 at times. It is not perfectly par.
USDT works by exactly matching the amount of coins in circulation, to the amount of USD in the Tether bank account. If there are a million USD in their bank account, they issue a million USDT into circulation, when people cash out they withdraw the same amount from circulation that's all. The price "parity" is set by the market on the exchange eg. Poloniex, and varies all the time, just like the value of BTC/USD varies significantly between exchange that accept fiat, and has nothing to do with Tether.

There is a certain amount of trust required that the amount of USDT in circulation does match the bank reserves at Tether, I don't know if this is open to public scrutiny. I think it should be.

Bittrex do some things I dislike, eg. when I move ETC to them, less gets credited to my Bittrex account than what the blockchain transaction says, yet I don't see a mention of deposit fees.

I wish this were the case & I think that this would be fair because most fiat holders were only holding fiat by chance and would probably have been in coin if the timing were slightly different.
However I think they propose to set the conversion date once the exchange is up.

"With a balance of 1000 USD, after conversion you will receive 55% in BTC, LTC, ETH (at exchange rate on the day of conversion) and 450 USDET. By this principle all koins and fiates will be converted. "

It sounds like a reasonable proposal, the first few days of trade will be exciting, I would imagine a lot of people will want to withdraw their 55% in crypto asap out of fear that the exchange may go offline again, however the BTC-e admin sounds pretty serious if they have a legal team and backing from and investor. Didn't see Gox or Cryptsy make an effort to keep going like that.

Trade in the exchange tokens need to do their price discovery. I have seen exchange tokens do very well in the elsewhere. USDET could be a popular hedge like Tether. I will be keen to see how well they trade.

The US government caused the problem in the first place, and doesn't want you to have your coins, else they would not have done what they did. Take it up with them.

I knew BTC-e would never cheat their customers. F the Govt!

At least this shows that btc-e aren't thieves like a lot of people here were thinking, but we must also understand that we're not there yet. I am quite excited that they will give people their full BCC credits as well. In my case, I had 1 BTC in my account at the time they went down, so 0.55 BTC, plus the tokens for the remaining 0.45 BTC, plus 1 BCC. Now it's waiting for trolls such as mayax to start posting here -- I am actually interested what type of nonsense they will come up with now. Cheesy

It's a good start, what I want to see is BTC-e have a sustainable exchange again. Firstly so we can trade the tokens to redeem our coins, and secondly because it was a good exchange, and I miss the trollbox.

I keep hearing this kind of justification on how a bloated blockchain should not be a problem because hard drives are now cheap. But really now that hardly means that Ethereum is efficient. It has not been a long time since it went online and we see how a bloated blockchain will be a problem in 5 years time.

How big is the ETH block chain now? Last time I looked it was well over 100GB.
That means it will pass BTC in a matter of months, whereas ETC block chain only seems to be about 1/5th. of the size of ETH.

Very true, if you let someone else control your money, there is a good chance they will run away with it, that's why we have this massive global infrastructure to stop people running away with money. It works sometimes.
