1000w might be a good choice for hardcore overclocking.. time will tell Smiley
How do we know KNCminer chips can be overclocked? Did I miss some announcement from them?
1162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 09, 2013, 09:34:28 PM

Well, that's obvious, and the more pressing issue considering we are fighting difficulty rise isn't a stuffy room. The problem we are trying to overcome is achieving the safest most stable overclock speed possible. I can care less if the office AC has to work harder to get rid of the heat, I want to maximize the potential of my hardware.

[Edit]
The office that my miners will be stored in includes electricity so, no extra cost for additional cooling. Grin
How do you know these devices can be overclocked?

What's with the bots on LTC/USD that close the spread, instantly out bidding your buy/sell orders by the smallest decimal place?

I got a PM from julz yesterday who has taken over from dadj saying the Block Erupters are back in stock. They seem to have gone up slightly to 0.175BTC.

I've been thinking about the cooling solution that KNC provided, and have been trying to figure outa way to cool these things enough to squeeze out another 50GHz/s. I have been considering the notion of stripping the PCB from the case, stripping the fans from the heatsinks, and flipping the board 180 degrees upside-down with the Heatsinks immersed in a mineral oil bath instead of the traditional full board immersion techniques people have tried.

The immersion pool would have a fan cooled radiator and would utilize a large liquid pump such as the kind you would see in a large fishtank providing circulation for the oil. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

if you're going that far, why not watercool? ==>> Not messy.
Water cooling doesn't make your data centre any cooler, you still have to get rig of the heat from the room.

1166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GameCoin (GME) - MANDATORY UPDATE to v0.8.4.0 on: September 09, 2013, 01:07:26 PM
The hash that's been on it today has varied by several hundred percent as TomPool hopped between coins, the response is a little slow, but way better than it was. I probably would have gone for 12% every 10 blocks rather than 10% every 12 blocks.

1167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GameCoin (GME) - MANDATORY UPDATE to v0.8.4.0 on: September 09, 2013, 12:21:10 PM
found another working GME-Pool:

http://ctompo.dyndns.org/gmemine/public/

Port 3339

Only manual payments are enabled, as some of the auto payout addresses people set were to Cryptsy which has GME currently disabled, so it's unknown what would happen to your coins.

1168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GameCoin (GME) - MANDATORY UPDATE to v0.8.4.0 on: September 09, 2013, 07:30:37 AM
OK its running again.. Apparently Petrified added a version check that doesn't allow old clients (<80400) to connect.. P2Pool is acting like a client and sends its own version to gamecoind. That was still at 80100... Sad

@Erk, sure my values are pasted below; but due to above you at least also have to manually change the version in p2p.py

Mind you to change the ports to the correct value..

Thanks, what port are you using for the p2pool network? Are there any other nodes peering on it?

1169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GameCoin (GME) - MANDATORY UPDATE to v0.8.4.0 on: September 09, 2013, 06:33:54 AM
Hey guys,

I waited till 23am (thats 1am here) but I had to go to bed.. P2Pool is stuck saying it can't connect to the client.. no idea why yet.. I'm trying to fix it..

Cheers
Can I get the patches off you for p2pool for gamecoin? Specifically the networks.py stuff. I just want to set up a small p2pool for back up just like what happened today when there were no working pools for several hours.

1170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GameCoin (GME) - MANDATORY UPDATE to v0.8.4.0 on: September 09, 2013, 03:51:31 AM
weird, why i got 1000 GME per block?  Shocked
The block time is back to the original 2.5min, not 1min, so there is no need to divide the reward by 2.5.

1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GameCoin (GME) - MANDATORY UPDATE to v0.8.4.0 on: September 09, 2013, 02:50:52 AM
What's up with GME being removed from Cryptsy?
Fork, 51% attack required new client etc. big job.  No point being on Cryptsy until all happy it's stable again.

I would imagine that BigVern would need a resonable explanation of what went wrong, and what's been done to fix it before he would enable GME again.

ahmed said the following a few minutes ago:
Quote
[12:34am] <@ahmedbodi> IP: 75.156.208.65
[12:35am] <@ahmedbodi> Port: 7312/7313
[12:35am] <@ahmedbodi> website: gme.crypto-expert.com

I've tested and it doesn't seem to be responding. Unfortunately right after the said that he went to bed.

tyrion70's pool should be up to date though
http://gme.p2pool.nl/stats/

TomPool has also updated but as they're a multipool I don't know what the deal is with their site.

http://ctompo.dyndns.org:8083/Tompool/

Tompool is a multi-pool set up for Overclockers Australia members. Normally we point at port 3332 for the multi-pool, however the Gamecoin daemon should be independently on port 3339 I can see blocks being found by the pools wallet address in the block explorer, but GME is not in the multi-pool rotation atm. So it's gone from the GUI, so it's up to you if you want to risk registering and try it, until Tom reactivates the GUI which I would imagine will be when he gets home this evening.

1173  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs announcing new preorder marketplace on: September 09, 2013, 12:53:23 AM
BTW, I gotta believe for every one miner that the new ASIC vendors ship, they're gonna put 6, 8, or 10 on line for themselves.  It's a good use of their NRE paid by pre-orders.

Sounds legit. BFL self mine - check. Avalon self mine - check. Bitfury self mine - check. Only one of these actually conducted themselves with integrity. Bitfury announced months ago they'd be self mining their hardware, the other two specifically said they would not mine main net with customer gear.
BFL never said the would self mine, where is the proof of that? Avalon said from day one they intended to self mine and the reason the entered the hardware market was to respond to BFL to try and balance things out. ASICminer self mine you missed them.

There are far more BTC to be made by selling your mining hardware for BTC than there is mining with it. If BFL can manufacture a  Jalapeno in 10min and sell it for a couple of BTC, and make a BTC profit on each, there is no way that device is going to mine a  BTC for them in months, let alone in 10min.

1174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GameCoin (GME) - MANDATORY UPDATE to v0.8.4.0 on: September 09, 2013, 12:06:13 AM
tyrion70's pool doesn't seem to be accepting communications on the port advertised by his page either.

Guess it's just solo mining unless TomPool start mining it.
TomPool seems to be mining on the direct port but gamecoin is not showing as one of the multipool options so I don't know if the work I am submitting will be credited. He did say last night that all was ready to go with the current client, but unfortunately all this is happening during work hours Australian time (Mon 10am atm), and it's a after hours project so I don't expect Tommo to be around.

1175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GameCoin (GME) - MANDATORY UPDATE to v0.8.4.0 on: September 08, 2013, 11:57:55 PM
It's a real shame that the pools are down, had I know I would have set up a p2pool to get started. Takes me a couple of hours to work out the p2pool patched for a different coin, so no point starting now unless someone already knows the patch strings.

1176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GameCoin (GME) - MANDATORY UPDATE to v0.8.4.0 on: September 08, 2013, 11:47:23 PM
No pools are working. that I can see.

EDIT: Ridiculous they haven't updated.  I couldn't even log into ahmed's pool at all today!  WTF
Same problem cgminer reports ahmeds's pool as dead on port 7102 he must have changed it.

1177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GameCoin (GME) - MANDATORY UPDATE to v0.8.4.0 on: September 08, 2013, 11:34:33 PM
Can anyone tell me which pool to use atm?
1178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 08, 2013, 10:44:03 PM
yeah. hopefully we get 100% of what our contracts are worth soon.

emmanuel, any updates on your 110TH machines?  we would love to hear about it.

thanks.

Hi,

The plan is to keep adding servers over the next few weeks. The 110 Terahash mine is on schedule for deployment between the 26th to 30th this month. We are well on schedule.

Worst case, July contract owners will be at 100 % capacity once the 110 Terahash mine comes online. As far as cloud hashing service companies go, we are the only ones paying out.

Will keep you posted.

Thanks

Emmanuel
O

I read that as cloudhashing is getting 110TH/s from knc equipment. What you guys think?
KNCMINER have not shipped any equipment so that's false. I would imagine the wafers have only just been completed if they taped out early July.
1179  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs announcing new preorder marketplace on: September 08, 2013, 09:47:41 PM
The one thing I have to say is that BFL as a company concerning their tactics don't reflect very well on BTC as a whole considering US lawmakers are looking at what sort of regulation should be in place.I don't think BFL will last 2 more years and some might actually be prosecuted under US law.

That shouldn't be a long term issue, so far only BFL and Avalon have failed to ship as promised, the other ASIC vendors will have an easy opportunity to outperform those two, which should bring back some credibility to the BTC mining hardware industry.

1180  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 2GH NinjaStick USB Miner powered by Bitfury on: September 08, 2013, 02:21:12 PM
These were selling for less than 1BTC, 2BTC for a Bitfury thumb is a ripoff.

Bitfury chips were selling for $20ea in reels of 3,000, so if you charge 2BTC what's the other $180+ for?

who said anything about a price (of 2 BTC or whatever) yet ?!

It's in the first post of this thread. Obviously something people don't read.
